Lap 63/71
Daniel Ricciardo is eating up the Alpines for fun. Esteban Ocon is digested next and he's now up into seventh place. Thank you very much, soft tyres.
Unbelievable mate. What a season.

I think Fernando Alonso might have an issue.
Lap 62/71
Fernando Alonso is disposed of by Daniel Ricciardo and the McLaren takes eighth place from the Spaniard. Alonso then radios his Alpine team and sounds not in the best mood. Problems on the horizon for the two-time world champion?

Fernando Alonso might get a penalty. He has just held up Lewis Hamilton, really quite badly, through the first sector. He saw him in the mirrors as well, I am sure.
Lap 61/71
The medium tyres are catching the eye of Lewis Hamilton. He's back on the radio asking if those yellow compounds can go until the end?
I am still not happy with this tyre.

Lap 59/71
Sebastian Vettel, on the medium tyres, tells Aston Martin he's finding it difficult on that particular rubber. The German finds himself in more bother as Zhou Guanyu swoops in to take 14th spot.
Same lap time for Max Verstappen. He has been running in free air. Only two cars left.
Lap 58/71
He is indeed, Jolyon. Daniel Ricciardo has picked off McLaren team-mate Lando Norris and the Alfa Romeo of Valtteri Bottas. The Australian, who has that 10-second penalty, is up into ninth.

This is a cracking drive from Daniel Ricciardo. It is hammering home the point that the soft tyres are working - even if they might fall apart before the end of the race.
Lap 57/71
The opponent Lewis Hamilton is up against is Sergio Perez. The Mercedes is holding tight in second but it's only a slight advantage of 1.526secs. Perez is once again the man in purple with another fastest lap.
Lap 56/71
Max Verstappen is creeping closer to becoming the driver with the most wins in an F1 season. The Dutchman is in cruise control while Lewis Hamilton stays behind and team-mate Sergio Perez sits in third.

Rachel T: I know how you feel Lewis, I’m having drop outs in power too
Jeremiah Kariuki: Whether Mercedes keep Hamilton out to the end of the race and Verstappen stops, that Red Bull will still cover the time and pounce on the Merc for the win.
Stan: I guess Merc had to try something funky. The over budget RB is a rocket ship in the hands of an average driver. Most boring F1 season ever.

Those soft tyres just seem to be the ones to be on now. They allow people to race.
Lap 55/71
Just before that penalty was announced, Sebastian Vettel is under the cosh from Zhou Guanyu. The Alfa Romeo man gets the better of the four-time world champion to take 14th place but Vettel is soon on the prowl and picks off the rookie to take the spot back.
Hamilton: "Are we on the wrong tyre?"
Mercedes: "No, we think we are on the right tyre. We will get to the end on this, no sweat."
