Don't think it's going to chuck it down today, Oliver. Those clouds look fairly pleasant in Montreal at the moment.
Alex Albon in seventh is leading of five-car pack of his Williams, George Russell, Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas.

Former Formula E driver
I wouldn't count out any precipitation here in Montreal, there is still a very small chance.

The Red Bulls have won every race this year by about 25 seconds or so, but this time Alonso is only four and a half seconds behind. Now it's obvious from the message from Max Verstappen's race engineer that Verstappen is not extending himself, but then you have to ask yourself how much was he extending himself in the previous races as well.
Lap 52/70
The five-second penalty for Lando Norris is for "unsportsmanlike behaviour". Oh dear.

Stuart Mitchell: The rain that was at Edgbaston earlier needed to be falling here. Based on how Canadian GPs have gone in the past, this is one of the more boring ones.
Sho: Montreal used to be the most exciting race of the year. Another track that's been ruined. What a boring race.
Graham Wright: They've had a lot of flak this season but Ferrari not stopping during the safety car appears to be a great decision.
Lap 50/70
George Russell is another driver getting some friendly advice from his pit wall. The Mercedes man is told his best mate, Alex Albon, is in defensive mode but the Mercedes has the pace, so get on him.
Lap 48/70
The latest radio message from Fernando Alonso sounds a little bit frantic as he questions a bit of lift and coast advice. "Yeah, I want to win the race man," the Spaniard tells his Aston Martin engineer.
Lap 47/70
A few moments ago, Lando Norris was handed a five-second time penalty for an infringement during the Safety Car period. The McLaren driver is in 11th place.

Sam Hartles: Can we just accept Max is gonna win most the races and the championship and just give him the title and let him go on holiday for the rest of the season to see how the races go without him. It would be way more exciting
Oliver Askew
Former Formula E driver
Lewis Hamilton loving life so far on that new set of medium tyres, lighting up the timing screens, goes purple on that last lap.
Lap 46/70
Red Bull are keeping a watch on how the action is unfolding behind Max Verstappen. They tell the two-time world champion there is a race going, clearly enjoying the prospect of Fernando Alonso versus Lewis Hamilton like the rest of us.
Lap 45/70
George Russell gains another place and sends Esteban Ocon on his away to grab eighth place. His team-mate Lewis Hamilton, in third, is clocking fastest laps with ease.

Jack: The stewards are clearly making things up as they go along. Steiner was right about them. They are a joke.
Jeremiah Kariuki: Devries and Tsunoda leading one another astray. Both losing so much time but luckily not bringing out the Safety Car.
Hu: De Vries just isn’t up to this sport is he?

An update from the stewards room, the incident involved Nyck de Vries and Kevin Magnussen, no further action, which is a bit of an interesting call I think.
Lap 43/70
The two Ferraris and Fernando Alonso are on the hard tyres, Lewis Hamilton is on the mediums and Max Verstappen, who also comes in for a pit stop, is another yellow runner.
Verstappen still leads the Canadian Grand Prix.
Oliver Askew
Former Formula E driver
They (Mercedes) are clearly just reacting to the two Ferraris pitting behind them covering off that undercut opportunity for those two drivers in red, so we can expect Fernando Alonso and then Max Verstappen to come in in the coming laps.
Lap 42/70
Lewis Hamilton is told to box by Mercedes. Good stop.
Aston Martin follow suit. Fernando Alonso is in. Another good lap.
Alonso stays second, Hamilton is third.
Lap 41/70
Well done Ferrari. Charles Leclerc also makes his first pit stop and is able to come back out in his original fourth place. Both Scuderia drivers have retained their pre-pit positions.

That is a really good call then for Carlos Sainz who retains position now with fresh rubber on the hard compound tyre.
