The Haas has been notorious for its poor race pace this year so far and a lot of that is to do with excessive tyre usage so perhaps that's what we are seeing on Hulkenberg.
The tangle was at Turn One, enabling George Russell to swoop through and steal a couple of places. Kevin Magnussen picked up a bit of a knock from the Alpha Tauri. He comes into the pits for a check-up and new tyres.
Lap 35/70
Kevin Magnussen is under pressure from the Alpha Tauri of Nyck de Vries. The Dutchman is through but as the pair grapple for position again, they end up having to take the escape road. Both are stuck in sector one.

I don't understand that pitstop for Nico Hulkenberg, that's the second pitstop and they are not even halfway into this race, obviously struggling out there to get the grip on that car.
Lap 34/70
The green strike graphic is tracking Kevin Magnussen attack on the Williams of Alex Albon. The Dane is eager to get 11th place back off the Williams man after he was passed a few laps earlier.
Lap 33/70
Is Max Verstappen through the worst of his tyre woes? The world champion extends his lead to five seconds over the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso in second.

Lap 31/70
Once again, Max Verstappen informs his pit wall his tyres have no grip. His engineer's response is a short, 'yep, we've got that. Head down.'

A little update on the British driver George Russell involved in a incident of his own earlier on in this race, running about a second behind Pierre Gasly in P18 but he's not making much ground, he's two seconds off the last lap of his teammate Lewis Hamilton.
Lap 30/70
Fastest lap goes to Fernando Alonso, who is still keeping the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton at bay.
Lap 29/70
Carlos Sainz is being told to pit but the Spaniard says nope, not happening, mate. "Stay out," comes the reply from his engineer.

I'm wondering whether Ferrari are trying to one stop this race, 26 laps into the race, they are saying they want a clean and fast stint, no racing between them. Leclerc is now a gap to Sainz of 1.3 seconds, I think they are going to try and extend this and do one stop and that would potentially bring them into play of the podium positions.
Lap 29/70
Even as the race leader, you can still find something to be annoyed by. "Low grip on this tyre," says Max Verstappen to his engineer.
Lap 27/70
George Russell is still at the back of the field in 19th place after that earlier a crash which caused damage to his W14.
Lance Stroll is the latest driver to come into the pits for a tyre changeover.
