This is a long Grand Prix, it takes a lot out of you, you don't really get much rest. Yes the cars have power steering but the mental capacity to drive these Formula 1 cars around such a tricky circuit with changing conditions, as well as a totally new environment for him (Lawson), there's a lot that he's got to take in on the steering wheel, he's travelling the fastest he's ever been in a single-seater.

The dance music has started again to entertain the crowd and they are getting right into it again with ponchos bouncing around everywhere.

It's quite wet I have to say the rain is still coming down the race control car has just come back into the pitlane in front of me and there are rivers running down the start/finish straight, and as the wind blows there are quite a few gusts you can see where the standing water is.

I just want to give a shout out to Liam Lawson who's driving this weekend for Alpha Tauri, last minute replacement for Daniel Ricciardo. He's currently 16th and this has been such a difficult weekend, the race has been challenging, qualifying has been challenging. You have to think of Lawson as a well done for keeping it on the road.

15 minutes was the expectancy of this rain.

While thankfully Zhou Guanyu was unhurt by that crash it was nevertheless scary looking as he basically just sailed over the standing water and into the barrier.

I don't think that is the worse decision because the rain is torrential now in the first sector.

  15. yellow flag

The wet track is causing havoc and now Zhou Guanyu is into the barriers. He is okay thankfully but the virtual safety car is deployed.

    Oh nightmare for Sergio Perez!

He locks up and goes straight on at Turn 1 and Fernando Alonso gobbles up the opportunity presented to him to move up to second!

Esteban has boxed for the wet tyre, he's the only driver that has gone on the extreme tyre, everyone else is on the intermediate so we will have to keep a close eye on Esteban Ocon's pace.

Everyone has pitted now, everyone on inters apart from Esteban Ocon who has gone for wet weather tyres.

Some left pitting a lap later and that could really cost them in these closing stages.

  19. Postpublished at Lap 63/72

Esteban Ocon looks like he wants to stay out but he is warned that the rain is going to be "massive".
