Jordan Spieth is a polite young man and is in the habit of calling everybody (men, anyway) Mr. So he talks of how Mr Crenshaw and Mr Nicklaus gave him a few Augusta tips this week.

Asked what his age cut-off for calling people Mr is, the 20-year-old replied, "Anybody older than me." So will he call Bubba, "Mr Watson"?

"Yeah, Mr Watson for sure. Just because it will mess with him."

Bubba Watson looked a little crumbly in the top two inches over the homeward nine yesterday.

Is it time to leave Rory McIlroy to finish his tournament in peace? Perhaps, so I'll keep it brief. Bogey on four, one over for the day, four over overall, chances of challenging nil.

  3. In your life have you seen anything like that! - Masters commentary gemspublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Here's the insight of American Masters commentator, external Verne Lundquist, who lists the moment Jack Nicklaus rolled in his memorable putt on 17 in 1986 to become the oldest major winner at 46 and Tiger Woods' chip en route to victory in 2005 as his biggest calls.

Not a patch on our own BBC team obviously.

Anyway, Lundquist has headed for the commentary tower overlooking the par-three 16th the past 15 years. Could the last of the course's short holes once again provide some Masters magic?

"The hard thing is when you wake up and tee off at 2.40 or 3pm, you think about the negatives or what could be. The building up to it is so difficult. Tiger worked out how to do it better than anyone."

"This is one of the world's great sporting events, not just golf. You try to explain it, but it's very hard unless you've been there."

Five of the past 11 winners of the Masters have been left handed, but if Augusta National, with its unusually high number of right-to-left doglegs, offers an edge to left-handers, it took until 2003 and Mike Weir until one of them won the tournament.

Weir has picked up a rare birdie at 11, followed it up with another at 12 and handed a stroke back at 13. All that adds up to one under for the day and seven over for the tournament.

Here is a stat for you to ponder.

The Masters champion has come from the final day's last group in 19 of the last 23 years. However he has come from elsewhere in the last three years.

I'm not sure where that leaves Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson who will be last off the first tee today.

The Danish tennis star's hair is more or less back to its natural blonde colour after she turned up with a bright pink barnet to match the azaleas this week.

After struggling on day two, McIlroy has re-set his sights on securing a best Masters finish, to beat the 15th last year.

He smacks a good one up the first and his entourage stroll along with the crowds.

  12. Langer to +1published at 18:22 British Summer Time 13 April 2014

Bernhard Langer has come out of the clubhouse swinging. The German veteran, a two-time winner, picked up a birdie on the first, an eagle on the second, before blotting his copybook with a bogey on three.

That eagle will earn him a pair of crystal goblets from the Augusta committee. Which will be great for Bernhard to sip mead from while he chews on a chicken leg and relaxes watching some top-class jousting.

Rory McIlroy has got his final round under way with pars on the first two holes. The Northern Irishman is eight shots off the pace on three over and has 24 players between him and the lead. Surely too much to be in contention.

From how far away could a challenge come from? Leaders Jordan Spieth and Bubba Watson are five under, so are those starting on evens the players in with a realistic chance?

Louis Oosthuizen, starting at three over - is he too far away? You'd have to say so, but he's started the day by birdieing both the the first two holes. He's gone to one over.
