  1. Love making a move...published at 16:04 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Poulter (-1 after 5), Watson (+5 after 5), Willett (-2 after 1), Love (-2 after 6)

Danny Willett under way with a solid par. He will be itching to contend here fresh from becoming a dad for the first time last week.

Ian Poulter is hunting birdie on five and he snakes a putt from left to right... it's a long one... it's in is it? No. A fraction short.

Bubba is going to drop is he? A full 12ft for par and it slips away.

And look who is making a move, Davis Love is three under for the day and playing some lovely stuff.

Chris, I get your logic but my word these trousers look like something you'd find at the back of a fancy dress shop which shut down in 1960. They look like something a remote tribe has designed. We don't like to use the same image twice in a live text but on this case we will. Just look at them...

And Chris, I'll salute you if Spieth appears at 17:55 in a pair of these.

    Keep in touch on #bbcgolf.

  4. Putt them on the naughty steppublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Who has the putter hot?

Ken you cheeky monkey.. we liked this image.

So who had the hot putter yesterday? Jordan Spieth of course, averaging 1.39 putts per hole - tied with Chris Wood and Angel Cabrera.

Chief sinner was Ernie Els (2.17) but Russell Knox of Scotland was a naughty boy too (2.11).

Key rules at Augusta, putt well and nail the par fives.

  5. Postpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

Day (level after 3), Poulter (-1 after 4)

Not enough juice on Jason Day's birdie putt on three and he taps in for par.

Over to Poulter: "HELP IT WIND," he yells with his ball in the air on its way to the green on five. A solid shot and leaves an outside chance.

Poulter has an air of anger about him today, he just looks furious with the world in many ways.

Ernie putting for birdie on three... oh that's close.

  6. Birdie for Leepublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Lee (-4 after 5)

Hats off to you Danny Lee.

That double bogey hasn't wobbled you too much yet eh?  A 13ft putt drops on the fifth for birdie and the 25-year-old is back to within two of Jordan Spieth.

  7. A day out at Augustapublished at 15:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

It seems the backpack is a big seller at Augusta National Golf Club.

And did you know the use of mobile phones is prohibited at the famous course. How often do you see a queue for a pay phone these days? You will here.

  8. Bogeys for everyonepublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Poulter (-1 after 4), Watson (+4 after 4), Grace (+8 after 4)

It's getting ugly on the third hole as Branden Grace takes a double bogey on this par three. A short tee shot did for him. Ian Poulter, can you save par from distance? No you cannot.

Bubba Watson will also make bogey. The three pay for perhaps not taking note of the wind strength off the tee.

The word to sum up the day-two play so far... struggle.

  9. Ouch!published at 15:45 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Els (+10 after 2)

  10. Birdie for Daypublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Day (level after 2)

Jason Day is back in the birdie game. He maximises the opportunity a par five presents by taking two putts to eventually convert from around 4ft. Back to level par for the Aussie who does seem to be fighting against the tide a little.

Ernie Els misses a putt for birdie. We must stop zoning in on him - the poor fella is putting miserably in his head, and his hands now stand no chance.

  11. Short, short, shortpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Poulter (-2 after 3), Watson (+3 after 3), Grace (+4 after 3)

I do get a small quiver of joy when professional golfers look like us amateurs at times. This time it's the trio of Ian Poulter, Bubba Watson and Branden Grace on the fourth tee.

This hole - Flowering Crab Apple - is 240 yards long and they all come up short of the green, well short in fact.

They resemble that friend you always play with who thinks he can hit it further than he actually can. Club up gents, club up.

Ah James, you are a kind man. Rarely do we get such praise.

I fear you have built us up and now the only way is down. You can tweet us messages like this as many times as you wish.

  13. Just how good is Jordan?published at 15:36 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

Spieth (-6) Tee time: 17:55 BST

He fist pumps. He kisses his putter. He shouts at his ball.

    Jordan SpiethImage source, .

But just how good is this Texas dynamo? Relentless is the word I'd use when it comes to his approach to this tournament.

Yesterday's 66 was his ninth straight round of par or better at Augusta. In leading, he became the first champion in 50 years to return and lead after round one.

How do you knock someone so comfortable in his surroundings off course? It feels like a player may well need to dig deeper than ever before to get the job done.

  14. Day in pain?published at 15:35 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Day (+1 after 1)

Jason Day is down on the ground stretching his back out on the second fairway. He can set up eagle here with a good whack.

Day rotates his hips while flat on the ground and takes care of the 206 yards to the green to leave a long putt.

  15. Dear me...published at 15:33 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Horschel (level after 7)

Ladies and gents, the trousers of Billy Horschel. He is two over for the day.

That's what trousers like this do for you kids, they ruin your game. Stay well clear.

  16. Double bogey for Leepublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Lee (-3 after 3), Els (+10 after 1)

Ernie Els misses a three-footer on the first and he is now 10 over.

Danny Lee was moving nicely but drops two on the third. He too got a touch of the Ernies and started missing when within a bin lid of the cup.

Honestly, what's up with these guys on the greens?

Another great comparison Dave, like Arsenal in a title race Poulter is looking for trouble. I believe he supports them doesn't he?

He has a five-footer for par on three.

  18. Finding it hard gents?published at 15:27 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Augusta fighting...

    Graeme McDowellImage source, .

Graeme McDowell is about to tee off and walk on to a course which is biting many who dare take it on. G-Mac is level par and a solid round would see him in the mix to add to the US Open win he achieved in 2010.

  20. Bogey time...published at 15:20 British Summer Time 8 April 2016

    Day (+1 after 1), Poulter (-2 after 2)

We have some early movement and it's getting worse for Jason Day. Have the wheels fallen off this slow-moving golfer?

He leaves about 10ft for par on the first but looks for too much of a break and it does not turn.

Over to Ian Poulter on the second, this is a big putt for birdie... drops. Fine putt indeed. Poulter, the grinder.
