There's a very low score out there somewhere, Joost Luiten of the Netherlands is in with a 65. Here's Grace to get to nine under... doesn't hit it, stays eight under after six.

    -6 Harrington

No umbrellas, no rain. The weather looks like it's clearing up.

2008 champion Padraig Harrington's tournament is done with a final-round 68 and he is currently the clubhouse leader on six under.

A bogey on the 10th the only blemish on a scorecard which contained five birdies.

And as Harrington comes in, I go out. Enjoy.

  4. Day to defend?published at 19:00 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -10 Day (20:07 BST)

Defending champion Jason Day is in the building. The Australian world number one looking sprightly as he leaps up a flight of stairs, two at a time. Careful there Jason, there's been a bit of rain and they could be a touch slippery.

Day is in the penultimate group, teeing off at 20:07 BST - he is just one behind leader Jimmy Walker.

He is looking to become the first man to defend his title since Tiger Woods followed his 2006 win at Medinah with victory at Southern Hills in 2007.

  5. Hatton floored?published at 19:00 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -4 Hatton (7)

The highest-placed Englishman Tyrrell Hatton looked like he may make inroads into the leading pack and he started steadily with six straight pars.

He looked like doing the same on the seventh, but a long putt lipped the hole, round the edge and swerved back out. Hatton looked on in horror as he made his way to the ball for a tiddler for bogey.

A dropped shot, a knockout blow to his hopes?

  6. On targetpublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -8 Grace (4)

Two birdies in the opening four holes and Branden Grace looks like he may well set the target for the rest today.

The South African takes of his cap and punches the air after downing a 10-footer on the fourth.

Can he keep it together for the rest of his round?

  7. Phil finishes with a flourishpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -3 Mickelson

An excellent finish by 2005 champion Phil Mickelson, who birdies the last to complete his round.

The 18th didn't start too well, as he found himself in brown, muddy stuff left of the water hazard on the 526-yard hole. To make matters worse, his black shoes and trousers will need soaking in a bucket of water when he gets home. Yuk.

But Mickelson recovered brilliantly with his following shot and almost chipped in for eagle on the next, but had to settle for a three-under-par finish - that's just one shot more than he took to win at Baltusrol 11 years ago.

  8. No dis-Gracepublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -7 Grace (2)

South African Branden Grace is out for his final round and has already picked up a shot on the second to go seven under, four behind leader Jimmy Walker.

His 17-foot putt is beautiful, keeping the ball high of the hole before it curls down and in. More of those today and he'll be a force to be reckoned with.

  9. Scenespublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    E Johnston (3)

It must feel like playing at home for Andrew Johnston. The American crowd absolutely love him.

Beef gobbles up a lovely 30-footer on the third for birdie, picking up the shot he dropped on the opening hole and is level again for the day and the championship.

Wild celebrations as well, throwing both arms in the air and taking the acclaim of the fans. #scenes.

  10. The gloves are offpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -1 Mickelson (16)

He had the look of an MMA fighter before, but Phil Mickelson means business now as he rips off his black gloves with a couple of holes left to play.

It doesn't quite help him on the 16th, though, as a 15-footer goes straight on when he needed a touch more angle on it down the hill.

A little smile but he has had a frustrating day.

  11. That's incredible!published at 18:04 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -4 Vegas (7)

Oh my. This is madness from Jhonattan Vegas.

The Venezuelan holed a 40-footer on the sixth, and goes even bigger on the next hole.

This one is 52-foot and in it goes. Vegas enjoys that one with a fist-pump. He is charging up the leaderboard.

  12. Bad start for Beefpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    +1 Johnston (1)

Not a good start from the bearded, tubby Andrew Johnston, dropping a shot on his opening hole.

He had a six-to-eight footer to save par, but the line was wrong and Beef watched the ball roll right of the hole.

Taking a look at his page on the PGA Tour website,, external he looks almost unrecognisable without the facial hair on his profile picture.

  13. Monster puttingpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -3 Vegas (6)

Johnny Vegas, the Venezuelan version, is enjoying his time at Baltusrol and he loves this one.

He's picked up his second birdie of the day and this one on the sixth is an absolute monster from around 40 feet out.

It looked to have too much pace on it and nearly popped out of the hole, but Vegas clicked his fingers as he watched it disappear.

    Lovely stuff.

The two Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Andrew Johnston get their final rounds under way.

"Beeeeeef" shout the crowd as Johnston launches his opening shot down the fairway.

The big man is turning into quite a cult hero.

  15. sun

It's sunnypublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -1 Mickelson (13)

The spectators are going to need a good wash when they get home, trudging through the muddy pathways of Baltusrol.

The rain is clearing up on parts of the course though, especially where Phil Mickelson is on the 13th. Dare I say, there's even some sunshine creeping out of the clouds.

Lefty groans as he misses a downhill putt on the green and then is off target again from around eight-feet when looking for par.

A dropped shot and he walks away in disgust, handing his club to his caddie without any eye contact. Oops.

  16. Postpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    E Watson (5), +2 Els (18)

Bubba Watson, who was runner-up in 2010 to Martin Kaymer, recovers on the fifth after finding himself close to the trees. He holes a putt to maintain level par.

Meanwhile, South African Ernie Els has only managed a best finish of third in this tournament and has just completed his final round on two over.

  17. One up, one downpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    +6 Willett (10), -5 Harrington (10)

Masters champ Danny Willett may be way down, but he can afford a smile on the 10th after holing an impressive 10-footer to pick up a shot.

The Sheffield man showing plenty of steel.

Meanwhile, playing-partner Padraig Harrington drops a shot after missing a putt for par. Disappointing for the Irishman.

Still coming down heavy in New Jersey and it will need something special if predictions of a "61 or 62" from Phil Mickelson are to come true.

Plenty of boggyness in the rough stuff, but there's little surface water on the greens so if they stay down the middle and hole the putts, who knows.

Left-hander Mickelson is off the pace, though, on two-under, as is 2010 runner-up Bubba Watson, who is level par but in a bit of trouble on the fifth.

  19. 'Chilling'published at 17:02 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -9 Stenson

Back-to-back major victories for Henrik Stenson? Don't bet against it.

The Swede won his maiden biggie - The Open at Royal Troon - a couple of weeks ago, and is slap-bang in the chase in New Jersey after a third successive round of 67.

"It wasn't the best day with the long game but there were some spells where I hit some great shots," said the 40 year old. "I finished on a strong note and my putting kept it together.

"I will stay patient and we will see if we can continue into the fourth round. I'm chilling."

He comes back at 19:58 BST for his final round with Argentine Emiliano Grill, who has dropped back to -4 after a three-over 73.

  20. That's ugly!published at 16:56 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    +7 Willett (8), +8 Dredge (4), -6 Harrington (8)

It's one to forget for Masters champion Danny Willett, who seems to be sinking in the puddles at Baltusrol. The Sheffield man is currently on seven over, having started with two bogies in the opening six holes in the final round.

While Willett falls the wrong way, Ireland's Padraig Harrington has not dropped a shot since being paired with the Englishman for round three - to try and catch up, tournament organisers have kept the same pairings for round four.

Harrington had a bogey-free 65 on Saturday and has picked up two birdies in his opening eight holes to get to -6 and is five shots off the lead.

Welshman Bradley Dredge is also struggling in the gloomy conditions. A double bogey, birdie, bogey, bogey start sees him back at +8.
