  1. 'There's a 61 or 62 out there'published at 16:49 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

This major is not the one missing from Phil Mickelson's mantelpiece - that's the US Open - when he won here at Baltusrol in 2005, rain forced a Monday finish.

The left-hander nails his birdie putt to get to two under.

Heavy rain continues to fall but Lefty thinks that will only help low scoring.

Speaking after completing his third round on Saturday, he said: "There's a 61 or 62 out there because it's par 70, the greens are pristine - they're rolling beautifully - and they're soft.

"There's just a lot of birdie holes."

  2. Harrington par savepublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -6 Harrington (7), -1 Mickelson (10)

Padraig Harrington gets up down from a greenside bunker on seven to stay six under.

Another former champion, Phil Mickelson, is wearing two gloves for his final round. The approach is clearly working for Lefty who pings one at the flag on the 10th. Birdie chance to get to two under for the American who won his US PGA title when Baltusrol last hosted, in 2005.

Now that all the third round guys have finished, we get an idea of timings for the final round.

A few are already on the course under way in their fourth rounds, but a quick look at when the ones flying high on the leaderboard will tee-off:

19:40 BST: Hideki Matsuyama (-7), Harris English (E)

    19:49: Brooks Koepka (-9), Patrick Reed (-5)

    19:58: Henrik Stenson (-9), Martin Kaymer (-4)

    20:07: Jason Day (-10), Emiliano Grillio (-4)

    20:16: Jimmy Walker (-11), Robert Streb (-7)

A long wait, so be patient.

  4. Walker leads after three roundspublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -11 Walker (18), -7 Streb (18)

Jimmy Walker and Robert Streb were joint leaders after two rounds on nine under par.

The Americans have just finished up on the 18th and their third rounds could be summed up by their final hole.

Walker finds the par-five green with his second and two putts for a comfortable birdie that lifts him to 11 under par and the outright lead after three rounds.

Streb found a greenside bunker with his second and splashes out to seven feet. However he misses the birdie putt and the par putt coming back, so instead of finishing on nine under, he drops back to seven under and is muttering away to himself from underneath his umbrella.

  5. Spieth seven adriftpublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

What of world number three and last year's runner-up Jordan Spieth?

A steady round, but a bogey on the fifth left him with work to do, managing only two further birdies to finish the third round in tied-15th place.

"We were moving nicely and knew we would get the round in," he said. "I am going to need a historic round to pull this off. I will be seven off so it will take something special.

"If there was ever an opportunity, it is this golf course."

  6. Day shares leadpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    Jason's Day?

The world number one is in to sign his card after completing his third round, and my, he has put down a marker.

Despite the torrential weather conditions, the defending champion completed a bogey-free round with birdies on holes six, nine and 18.

It means the Australian climbs to joint-top of the chart on 10 under and he'll take some stopping in the final round.

  7. Harrington holing birdiespublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -6 Harrington (5)

Round four, of course, is already well under way and the man making the biggest move is Ireland's Padraig Harrington. The 2008 US PGA Championship winner is two under through his first five holes and six under for the tournament.

If he can knock a few more in over the next couple of hours he could set a challenging clubhouse target. He is looking at a 40-footer on the sixth but he's pushed that a foot wide and is staying at six under.

  8. Koepka coming goodpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    -9 Koepka (18)

Brooks Koepka carded a bogey-free four-under 66 to go on nine under, one shot behind top dog Jimmy Walker.

The American said: "It was fun out there, the course is wet but we managed not to get any mug balls. I struggled with the green speeds though.

"I feel fresh mentally. That is nice. I have been playing really well. Hopefully we can throw a good one out tonight."

  9. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

    Iain Carter
BBC Radio 5 live at Baltusrol

"The prospect of a second successive Monday finish to a US PGA Championship at Baltusrol looms ever larger.

"The storms were no surprise, begging the question of why players were not sent out in threes off two tees on Saturday morning.

"As it is the championship is massively behind schedule and there is a worrying forecast for the coming days.

"Some players are already speculating it could take until Tuesday to decide the final major of the year."

Not meaning to be a doom-monger, but I just took a peek at the weather forecast in New Jersey and more thunderstorms have been forecast for Sunday.

It says there's a more-than 50% chance of rain, but make that 100% because it is lashing down at the moment. Umbrellas up all over the place but the spectators are making the most of seeing some golf.

Does that mean we will  be on and off again today? There's no guarantees but just one delay will see us heading for a Monday finish and there have even been rumblings of the major spilling over into Tuesday.

  11. Walker leads but Day & Stenson closepublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

It's been a mixed bag of a round, but American Jimmy Walker is setting the pace at the top of the leaderboard on 10 under.

It was going pear-shaped on the opening nine for the Oklahoma man, as he made three bogies around one birdie, but three further birdies from holes 10 to 15 has put him top of the pile.

In the chasing pack? World number one Jason Day is on his tail, just a short further back through 16, while Swede Henrik Stenson, who won The Open at Royal Troon last time out, has just birdied the par-five 18th to also get to -9.

  12. Sunday funpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 31 July 2016

So how did Saturday pan out and how much disruption was caused?

Well, of the 86 players to make the cut, only the top 10 had been unable to start when play was suspended at 19:15.

Thirty-seven players had completed their third rounds before the klaxon sounded to suspend play, which was finally called off for the day around four hours later.

The action did get under way again on Sunday, and as things stand, Brooks Koepka is the clubhouse leader on -9.

"Everybody inside, come on, quickly get back indoors in an orderly manner."

In chaotic scenes on Saturday, round three of the US PGA Championship was called off because of the threat of lightning.

It means a frantic and congested final day is in store...I say final day, the final major of the year could go into Monday.
