    1UP Spieth/Reed v Stenson/Rose (3)

    Carin Koch
Last year's European Solheim Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

You have that putt and it's here and now. It is make it or not. Sometimes when you are on a roll, like Patrick is now, the hole is like a bucket.

    1UP Spieth/Reed v Stenson/Rose (3)

Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Patrick Reed and Henrik Stenson all have birdie putts on three. All of them are makeable, Spieth...fractionally out. Reed... a touch right to left... makes it and punches the air.

Over to Europe, one of these must now drop to prevent slipping two behind. Rose with a confident roll in. He makes a putt, not something we have seen at all from him today.

  3. USA overconfident?published at 19:21 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    D Johnson/Kuchar v McIlroy/Pieters

    Andrew Magee
American PGA Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 live

I'm wondering if the Americans are bit overconfident after that whitewash this morning. Both have missed the fairway off the tee and it could be a quick lead for the Europe team in this one.

Mark: We've holed more putts in the last ten minutes than we did all morning. Comeback is on.

Jeremy Leese: I can see games 1 and 4 to USA and 2 and 3 to Europe. Rory/Tommy need to blast away and snatch last one to give us a lift.

John Armstrong: Is this the bit where Poulter turns things around?

    D Johnson/Kuchar v McIlroy/Pieters

On tee, it's Dustin and Kuchar against McIlroy and Pieters. The former team coming off the back of a crushing victory this morning, the latter team coming off losses. Pieters, a tall, willowy lad, lumps his drive down the middle, and Rory follows him down there. Dustin pulls his, gets a lucky bounce off a tree but still ends in deepish rough, Kuchar finds sand.

    A/S Snedeker/Koepka v Kaymer/Willett (1)

Willett with his second at the first. That's OK, but no great shakes, Snedeker is closer. Some top bantz on the first tee, captain Clarke joshing with Woods and Mickelson about something or other. Presumably not about Mickelson's opening tee shot in 2004. Willett with a monster! That's the way to do it, Danny, and that was for a half.

    Holmes/Moore v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello 1UP (1)

Rafa Cabrera-Bello's sister, Emma, who plays on the Ladies' European Tour, was pleased with his winning putt on the first hole. She told BBC Radio 5 live: "That had the right speed and the proper aggressive speed he likes to play with."

  12. What reception will Willett get?published at 19:07 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    United States 4-0 Europe

    Iain Carter
    BBC Radio 5 live correspondent

It will be fascinating to see what reception Danny Willett gets, but even more fascinating is how he responds.

It has got to go well this afternoon both on and off the course to keep Matthew Fitzpatrick and Chris Wood's confidence up. They have earned their place here and don't want to be going into the singles on Sunday low on confidence

    Holmes/Moore v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello 1UP (1)

Rafa Cabrera-Bello drains a 12ft putt to win the opening hole after watching Sergio Garcia miss from similar range. JB Holmes and Ryan Moore trudge away. Abysmal drives left them buried there. Can Rafa be the man to ignite Europe? Someone has to, why not a fearless rookie?

    Snedeker/Koepka v Kaymer/Willett

Willett's first drive in a Ryder Cup is a ripper, he's clothed one straight down the middle. All four safely away, hope Willett has packed his earplugs...

    1UP Spieth/Reed v Stenson/Rose (2)

Henrik Stenson is putting for both he and Justin Rose it seems as the latter couldn't win a one-ticket raffle right now. The Ice Man makes a big putt after watching Jordan Spieth roll home for a birdie. Spieth clenched his fist, Stenson kept a grip on proceedings to halve the second hole.

James Payne: Yikes 4-0 after the foursomes, got to try and pull it back to 5-3 after the four balls, come on Team Europe!!

Teresa Hudson: Makes it a do or die session this afternoon. We've done it before they don't call it Miracle in Medinah for nothing!

Noel Fitzpatrick: A penny for Peter Willett's thoughts right now.

    Snedeker/Koepka v Willett/Kaymer

Here's the third match of the afternoon, Brandt Snedeker and Brooks Koepka up against Masters champion Danny Willett and Germany's Martin Kaymer. A few boos for Willett, which will happen if your brother pens an article calling American golf fans a "baying mob of imbeciles".

  19. Postpublished at 18:59 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    Holmes/Moore v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello

Rafa Cabrera-Bello must like the gym. His biceps are bulging. His iron play is booming too. Just a few feet left for birdie on one. That's more like it. Where was this guy this morning Darren?

Sergio Garcia is also close in, he takes a huge divot which sticks to his club face on follow through, a great shot from the right rough. Europe will surely take this hole.

  20. 'Don't let them get away'published at 18:59 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    Des Smyth

You don't want to let these guys get away again. They are very hard to peg back. You saw what happened this morning.
