  1. 'Rafa hungry for Ryder Cup'published at 20:21 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    Holmes/Moore v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello 2UP (5)

Emma Cabrera-Bello speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "Rafa is really enjoying it. He came here and was hungry for this Ryder Cup.

"He wants to make a statement, he wants to play and he is confident. His game is showing it.

"I think this is the strength of pairing two people form the same country, especially the Spaniards - we could have one of the future top Ryder Cup doubles."

McIlroy at the par-three fourth and he's half a club out. He's chip isn't much cop either and he misses with his long par putt. Over at five, Willett plays a peach out of the rough, while back at four Pieters bends in a fine birdie putt to go one up.

  4. 'Americans dovetailing well'published at 20:19 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    A/S Spieth/Reed v Stenson/Rose (6)

    Des Smyth
Former Ryder Cup vice captain on BBC Radio 5 live

The American team are dovetailing very well and if it's not Patrick Reed it is Jordan Spieth.

We had another situation where Jordan was out of the hole and Patrick made an opportunity for birdie.

They are fantastic kids and have moved up to the top of the world rankings. Anyone would want them on their team.

  5. Can't split thempublished at 20:18 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    A/S Spieth/Reed v Stenson/Rose (6)

Jordan Spieth hits one of the worst shots you will see a professional deliver on the sixth. His third blow is sliced wide of the green and he ends up making bogey.

It's down to Henrik Stenson and Patrick Reed. The Swede goes first, a putt of around 15ft, that's joyous. A big, big make. Heart of the cup too.

Can Europe pinch the lead here? Nope. With a clench of the fist, Reed drops one in dead weight.

  6. 'A dream start'published at 20:14 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    USA 4-0 Europe

US captain Davis Love III on Sky Sports: "I think we're all really excited. You can see it on this first tee, everyone swung for the fence. It's a good start and we have to keep going. It's a dream start.

"We have put two different teams out there, some new excitement. We have everybody out there, everyone on the course.

"The problem is sitting guys out. I had to sit out four guys that won this morning. Our guys are willing to do whatever is asked. We want everyone in the game, but also everyone rested for Sunday."

    USA 4-0 Europe

We are finely poised in this second session. Two matches at all square, Europe two up in one, the US two up in another.

If this tips the wrong way for Europe, we could be staring a mauling square in the face. How are you feeling from the sofa/pub/car/office/bed? Tweet us on #bbcrydercup.

McIlroy with a good up and down at the third, halves the hole to keep the match bubbling under at all square.

  9. Feisty reception for Willettpublished at 20:11 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    2UP Snedeker/Koepka v Kaymer/Willett (3)

    Iain Carter
    BBC Radio 5 Correspondent

It is feisty and there is no doubt about it. Coming off the fourth green, there were a lot of spectators clad in stars and stripes who have spent a few spells in the beverage oasis - otherwise known as the bar

There were one or two rather nasty calls just on the edge of what you would call acceptable and some chanting as well. But Willett looks strong willed and got up and down in pretty hostile circumstances.

It's going to be on a knife edge throughout the afternoon and if it gets close, we will have to watch very closely to see how the crowd deal with Danny Willett.

Bubba Watson did say 'come on guys, we don't want this'.

  10. Europe uppublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    Holmes/Moore v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello 2UP (5)

Ryan Moore, to save the hole on five with Sergio Garcia already in the cup. Moore expects some break, it doesn't come. Europe lead by two. This match looks very much under control.

  11. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    2UP Snedeker/Koepka v Kaymer/Willett (4)

Pieters has a 10-foot birdie putt at three and he's pushed it wide. Koepka has a longun for birdie at four, which he misses, meaning Willett has a putt for a half. Well made by the Masters champion, but the USA remain two up.

    Holmes/Moore v Garcia/Cabrera-Bello 1UP (4)

Sergio Garcia stands over his ball on the fifth fairway. He has a very upright stance. There's probably 100 yards to work with here and that shot is sensational my friends. Just a foot left. Pick it up Sergio, no need to putt thank you.

JB Holmes or Ryan Moore must find birdie now to remain one down.

  15. Iconic moments - The wait is overpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    United States 4-0 Europe

    Sam TorranceImage source, .

Sam Torrance sinks a putt and the pattern of the Ryder Cup changes.

The event was not even televised live in the USA at the time, the country's dominance had ensured interest remained minimal.  How things change. Only three times had USA lost the tournament prior to '85, they have won it just four times in 14 outings since.

  16. Postpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 30 September 2016

    2UP Snedeker/Koepka v Kaymer/Willett (3)

Snedeker playing his second from the sand at the fourth and it's a little bit heavy. Actually, it's very heavy. Koepka is the only man on in two, Willett is also in the white stuff... what a shot that is, landed it about a foot clear of the sand and has a good chance coming back. Iffy chip from Kaymer, his short game has been poor so far today. Door open for Koepka.

Did you think Jordan Spieth was about to wobble after that missed putt on four? Me neither. He knows playing partner Patrick Reed has a birdie chance but decides to take care of proceedings himself, dropping one in from 20ft or more. Big break, big putt.

Justin Rose now has to hole from a few feet to share the hole. Well done sir, stand firm.

At the third, Koepka has a putt for eagle, misses right but it's conceded for birdie. Willett doesn't make birdie and neither does Kaymer, the USA open up a gap on their opponents.
