Cheers Alex. Actually I have a lovely single-breasted jacket which is a fetching shade of racing green. I'll wear it to the office on Sunday.

    So where are we…

Sandy Lyle on the leaderboard? Hang on. Is this 1988?!

Oh no, it can’t be. Jordan Spieth is about to tee off. He wasn’t even born when Sandy slipped into the Green Jacket all those years ago...

  2. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

OK, it's nearly time for another champion to take to the tee as Jordan Spieth gets ready to go out alongside Martin Kaymer and Matthew Fitzpatrick.

With that in mind I'll introduce you to a man who'll never get anywhere near a Green Jacket, but is a champion of the live text circuit.

    Mr Jonathan Jurejko...

Just as I say that, fellow countryman Scott Piercy birdies the seventh to join him.

Kevin Chappell had strung back-to-back birdies together but then dropped a shot at the par-four fifth.

Sandy Lyle, meanwhile, is steadily hanging in there at one under.

Six-time Masters champion Jack Nicklaus has tweeted, external after his ceremonial tee shot.

"Even though my friend Gary Player and I are a year older and maybe a few yards shorter, this first tee time on Thursday of the Masters never gets old.

"It was wonderful to pause and pay tribute to our dear friend Arnold, and I hope from above he offered us a thumbs-up for finding the fairway.

"It's not important but I must have also found a little extra as I might have nipped Gary.

"Perhaps I should give Rory McIlroy some credit and thanks for the little driver tweak the other day on the range at The Bear's Club. Best of luck to him and the rest of the field in the 81st Masters."

    A renaissance from Sandy Lyle?

The 59-year-old Scot, who won the Masters back in 1988, is one under through three after a birdie at the third.

It's not proving such a fruitful debut for English amateur Scott Gregory though, who is currently four over.

The 22-year-old triple-bogeyed his first ever Masters hole.

  14. Johnson's team 'acted very quickly'published at 14:43 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

Johnson is not due on tee until 19:03 BST this evening, which gives the world number one a little more time to recover from his fall.

  15. World number one Johnson has 'got mobility'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 6 April 2017

Christian Gregory:  Its got to be either Fowler or the herculean Jon Rahm. Both on great form running into.

Paolo: Got my man Hideki Matsuyama. Really good showing last year, he's got my fiver.

Dean Moffat: If DJ is badly hurt, it would be good see McIlroy complete the slam. Mrs backing Garcia just cause of the name.

I've heard that approach in horse racing, Dean, but not golf before?

    Gregory +3 (1)

Maybe I was a little harsh on Brian Stuard earlier, because Scott Gregory has just followed suit by also triple-bogeying the first.

Strong winds? Uncontrollable nerves? Either way, it's not the start the English amateur will have been dreaming of.

Unfortunately, those YouTube clips can't replicate the blustery conditions at Augusta.

The American birdied the second and fourth, but dropped a shot at the par-four third.

A long way to go, of course...
