    McIlroy (E after 17), Rahm (-1 after 17)

Finally, one goes in for Rory McIlroy.

A fine birdie for the Northern Irishman at the par-four 17, sinking his putt from 12 feet.

He's out alongside the promising Jon Rahm today, with the Spaniard currently one under heading towards the 18th.

Today is harder than yesterday - not least because it is cut day.

The conditions are different - the wind is different direction, there's no humidity, which makes the greens firmer and faster. Some days you have a feel at tournaments and you wake up the next day and you don't just feel the same. You might wake up and your hands feel  different, the touch you had is not the same, the adrenaline is different. Every day is a different day in the golf course. Sure, sleeping on a lead on Thursday is not like sleeping on a lead on Sunday - but it can still be difficult.

You can listen to live commentary from Augusta on Radio 5 live from 21:00 BST.

  4. Same old Sergio...published at 20:34 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Garcia -4, Westwood +3

    Oh no, Sergio.

Such a superb approach as he nonchalantly strokes one to within six feet, but the Spaniard's putting lets him down.

A shake of the head from Garcia as fails to convert a birdie opportunity that would have given him the lead, before tapping in for par.

Not to be outdone, Lee Westwood bogeys the last to head in at three over.

  6. Westwood stops the rotpublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Westwood (+2 after 17)

Lee Westwood stops the bogey rot.

Those past three holes have been about as welcome to the Englishman as talk of his failure to win a major.

He heads towards the 18th at two over par, having begun the day at two under.

Justin Rose cannot get up and down from the sand on the fourth and he gives one back. He left himself a long, long putt after escaping the white stuff on this par three.

Adam Scott is going the other way. He bends a putt in there with loads off break. That's birdie and he has picked up four shots in nine holes. Scotty is in the groove ladies and gents.

Fellow Australian Jason day briefly loses his mojo. Birdie-birdie-birdie and now bogey.

  8. Superb from Sergiopublished at 20:26 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Garcia (-4 after 17)

Wonderful from Sergio Garcia on the 18th as he sends an approach soaring into the Augusta sunshine and watches it drop 10 feet or so above the pin, before spinning back down the slope.

Garcia makes the walk up the 18th knowing a birdie would send him in with the clubhouse lead.

    Hoffman (-4 after 18)

Clubhouse leader Charley Hoffman speaks to Sky Sports: "I got out of position in the middle of the round and didn't make the putts I needed. I'm happy with how I finished and have a chance going into the weekend."

On advice from friends: "They said you have to believe in yourself. Everything looks good. The only thing holding you back is your attitude."

  12. Not dropping for Rorypublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    McIlroy (+1 after 15)

It's just not quite dropping for Rory McIlroy on the back nine.

His birdie putt on the 14th slips narrowly wide, and it's a similar scenario at the following hole.

McIlroy tickles one up to within 12 inches from 39 feet on the par-five 15th, but he'll have to take the five.

  15. 'Tough to hit greens'published at 20:18 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    McGirt -2

William McGirt went out on Friday in second place at three under, but his one-over-par 73 second round sees him back in the clubhouse at two under and currently tied for third.

"I didn't feel like I played any worse today," he told Sky Sports. "I scrambled really well, made a couple of lengthy par putts on the front nine. It was tough to hit greens.

"The wind gusts make it really tricky out here. It was really tricky on the greens."

  16. Hoffman home but lead tiedpublished at 20:15 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Garcia (-4 after 17) Hoffman (-4)

As Charley Hoffman shows his will to scrap - finishing up on four under after a really poor spell during the middle of his round - Sergio Garcia draws level with the overnight leader.

Hoffman is in the clubhouse at four under. He rolls home a four footer for par on 18 and that means he played the back nine to level par, recovering after being three over after 10.

Garcia makes hay on the 17th green after a stunning approach.

  17. Bogey, bogey, bogey...published at 20:12 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

    Westwood (+2 after 16)

    Oh Lee, Lee, Lee.

Take a deep breath and settle yourself.

That's three bogeys on the trot for Westwood, who has slipped to two over.

The par-three 16th this time proving costly.

A brilliant start. The former world number one's most recent birdie coming courtesy of a stunning fairway iron which lands within a foot. On to the fourth tee, a par three... there'll be no birdie here as he leaves it well short of the green.

  19. Movers...published at 20:06 British Summer Time 7 April 2017

Mickelson (-2 after 3) Scott (level after 7)

One or two signs of players making a move - though Justin Rose fluffs a putt from six feet for birdie, leaving it high and the break doesn't come.

Adam Scott has picked up three shots in seven holes, Phil Mickelson with magic from the sand on three. From a long way out he whips one off the fluffy sand and it's four feet for birdie. After bogey on the first he's gone birdie-birdie.
