    Fleetwood (-7), Koepka (-7)

Tommy Fleetwood stands over his third shot on the first...that's solid, spinning back close to the hole.

His partner Brooks Koepka has an outside chance of eagle and the lead...nope but good effort to set up a birdie chance.

    Louis OosthuizenImage source, EPA

The Louis Oosthuizen charge takes a body blow on 17 as he three putts to bring up a double bogey. He had to chunk his third shot from the rough stuff and was always chasing things but it got worse on the green.

To the first tee and Paul Casey launches off with some draw to hit the fairway. All the players are now out there....

    Reed (-7 after 15)

Nope, we're straight back up to a seven-way tie for the lead.

Patrick Reed takes his latest birdie chance. He's having a round for the ages out there. What can he do on the last three holes?

    Thomas (-6 after 10)

Ack, after a sublime front nine, Justin Thomas comes undone at 10, missing a par putt and having to settle for bogey.

Well done to James Lowrey, Kev007, Jed Court, An, Ben Hughes, John Bocking, Mitesh Chavda, Robert Mitchell, Megan Stagles and Andrew Priestley.

    You guys nailed the teaser.

Tiger Woods, Webb Simpson, Lucas Glover, Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson are the five Americans to win the US Open in the last 13 years. Glover seemed to catch a few of you. I'd likely not recognise him if he sat next to me.

    Fowler (-7 after 1)

At 331 yards, Rickie Fowler will be frustrated if he does not lead on his own by the end of the second hole. Crushes it off the tee and is within 20ft of the dancefloor.

    Kim (-6 after 2)

We could've had an eight-way share of the lead but Si Woo Kim slides a birdie chance wide to leave himself a nerve-jangler for par.

But he makes it and stays at six under.

    Hoffman (-7 after 6)

Oooshk, Hoffman slides a birdie chance just wide to miss out on taking the outright lead.

He's looking in fine fettle out there, if a little sweaty. No sign of those storms yet thankfully, sun still streaming down.

    Fowler (-7 after 1)

Seven men share the lead. Rickie Fowler the latest to join the gang of happy chaps. Drops in from four feet on one.

Brooks Koepka and Tommy Fleetwood are on the first tee, ready to get their round under way with a remarkable 14 players either leading or within one shot of the lead. Busy.

    Fowler (-6)

Will we see the Rickie Fowler who had it all going for 28 holes or the one who struggled late in round two?

From the middle of the first fairway he takes dead aim with a wedge. This of course is a par five so it's crucial to start well. Confident clip, the ball plugs next to the pin. Perfect. Birdie surely?

    Kim (-6 after 1), Holmes (-5 after 1)

South Korea's Si Woo Kim has birdied the first to reach six under.

He's playing alongside JB Holmes, who made a bogey at the first to slip back to five under and swap positions with his partner.

Scrap what I said about a five-way tie for the lead. It's now a six-way tie.

Charley Hoffman has made his third birdie of the day to join Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Paul Casey, Brooks Koepka and Brian Harman on seven under.

    Na (+1 after 14)

Kevin Na - remember him? The guy who posted the video moaning about the fescue, external earlier in the week. Ah yes, him. He's one over now but about to be one under as he just lamped a stunner on the 15th. The par four has little resistance and his tee shot is a foot away from the cup. A beauty. Eagle putt coming.

    Thomas (-7 after 9)

Justin Thomas is wearing bright pink trousers but his golf today is showing even more flair.

The American drills a lengthy birdie chance at nine - his sixth birdie of the day.

He bogeyed the fourth, otherwise he could've had the lead outright by the turn.

We've got a five-way tie for the lead. The last two pairings will be out soon.

    Schauffele (-6 after 1)

OK, well Ed might not quite have nailed it. But on the subject of slightly surreal American golfers' names, Xander Schauffele has birdied the first to move to one shot off the lead.

    Oosthuizen (-6 after 15)

The Ooosthuizen charge continues! Louis nails yet another birdie on 15 and is now just one shot off the lead.

That's six birdies today and no bogeys. Can he pull level with the current leaders? Could he even surpass them?

    Thomas (-6 after 8)

Justin Thomas is playing some magical golf today - a crafty birdie putt earlier on and a wonderful, inventive approach just now on eight to set up an easy birdie. He's one shot off the lead.
