  1. Poulter in the moodpublished at 21:23 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

That was a huge par save from Poulter on the ninth. The fist pump was reminiscent of past Ryder Cup heroics. He looks in the right mood for perhaps the biggest back nine of his career.

  2. Super save for Poulterpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Big moment for Poulter. Superb.

He saves par on the ninth with a difficult long putt.

The Englishman loved that, a big fist pump followed by a fist bump with the caddie.

  3. Double bogey for Holmespublished at 21:17 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Holmes -5 (7)

JB Holmes almost chips his way in at the seventh.

His approach bypasses the green and finds some longer grass and he can't find a route out.

Eventually, it's a deft dink back towards the pin from the American and it flirts with the cup before staying up.

He's dropping shots, down to five under.

  4. Last year's bogeys tally beatenpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Iain Carter
    BBC golf correspondent at Sawgrass

Last year, the field made 40 triple bogeys or worse at The Players, the third most in the 2015-16 season.

By the end of the third round this year that total had been surpassed, as 46 triple bogeys or worse had been recorded.

Today the hole on the par-three 17th is located in its usual position only three paces from the right edge of the green. There were 10 balls in the water yesterday.

  6. Garcia's fall from gracepublished at 21:11 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Level par after 9 holes

Sergio Garcia started the day so well but it's been all downhill since then with four bogeys and a double bogey in his opening eight holes, as his scorecard on the PGA Tour website shows.

  7. Poulter on parpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Poulter -8 (8)

Ian Poulter makes short work of the par-three eighth.

He reaches the green and two putts for back-to-back pars.

The Englishman is one shot off the lead and has now not dropped a shot in 36 successive holes.

  8. Big-swinging JBpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Holmes -7, Stanley -8 (6)

JB Holmes confidently swings his tee shot at the seventh left before watching it cut right on to the fairway.

"Where are you going to hit it?" asks his caddie. Holmes answers with his club, the green. Just.

Kyle Stanley, after a birdie at the sixth, is back in the sand. Someone get him a bucket.

"Keep right ball," he shouts after he chops out of the bunker.

  9. Kim takes the leadpublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Stanley -8 (6) Kim -9 (7)

Hello, who's that muscling in on the leaders?

It's Kyle Stanley. After a tricky start to Sunday, the American gets his eye in on the par-four sixth with a confidently taken birdie.

But not for long... Kim Si-woo has just sunk a superb birdie putt on the seventh to take the outright lead.

And there's the emotion! A big fist pump from the youngster after that drops in from eight yards.

  10. Kim focused on the taskpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Kim -8 (6)

Part of me wants to witness Kim Si-woo win the Players Championship just to see if he shows any flicker of emotion...

Perhaps that's mean, but the 21-year-old has been so focused throughout this weekend that he's barely managed a smile.

Maybe this will make him grin... a steward has just chased a turtle (or was it a tortoise?) off the course and into the water.

I tell you what, it could move too. So much for the stereotype.

  11. Cashing in on Poulter?published at 20:59 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Iain Carter
    BBC golf correspondent at Sawgrass

A colleague in the media centre is getting excited texts from his 19-year-old son who had the foresight to back Poulter each way at 175 to 1 at the start of the week.

  12. Ronan has spoken ...published at 20:57 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

If you don't know who Ronan Keating is, he was the lead singer of that famous Irish boy band that isn't Westlife.

  14. Poulter makes par at sevenpublished at 20:54 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Poulter -8 (7)

Can Ian Poulter take the outright lead? He's not far away with a long, ranging putt on the seventh.

It starts left, before looping right towards the cup and stopping a tad left. Poulter grits his teeth, but there's not too much wrong with that.

Should be an easy par, and it is.

  15. Holmes bogeys fifthpublished at 20:52 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Holmes -7 (5)

You may notice from that leaderboard that JB Holmes has dropped another shot.

Well, that fifth hole that he took so long to play only ended with a bogey.

That's three in the first five holes for the American, and one birdie.

  18. Poulter finds the greenpublished at 20:49 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Poulter -8 (6)

"Sit!" Ian Poulter barks at his approach to the seventh like a man training his dog.

It obeys, a long way from the pin, but that's all green. He's on in two.

  19. Will Poulter end his title wait?published at 20:47 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Iain Carter
    BBC golf correspondent at Sawgrass

Ian Poulter has two PGA Tour wins - both World Golf Championships - but has yet to secure a strokeplay title in the United States. He won the 2010 WGC Matchplay in Tucson, Arizona and two years later secured the WGC-HSBC Champions which is held in Shanghai. That was his last victory, might the wait end tonight?

  20. All done for Mickelsonpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 14 May 2017

    Mickelson +3 (18)

Phil Mickelson hasn't had the best of weeks but he made amends for a poor showing yesterday.

After scoring 78 in round three, he finished his final round earlier with a one-under 71, ending the tournament on three over par.

He made time for the fans before heading back into the clubhouse.
