Here comes JB Holmes.

Bogey at the first, but the American has pulled it back on the second with a birdie.

I thought this might hot up in the final few holes, but it's already searing at Sawgrass.

He gave himself an eagle chance by making the par-five second green in two, with a long-range putt skipping its way towards the pin and settling some five feet away.

No problem for JB, he's back at the top.

Sergio Garcia is having bunker issues, having just bogeyed the third.

He's just had one of those wrist-jangling sand shots that looked to reverberate through his Masters-winning arm while the ball jumped all of a foot forward.

A shake of the head from Sergio. Knees bent, he's ready to go again, this time it's flush towards the pin.

Patrick Cantlay was the standout prospect in the 2011 US Walker Cup side, a team that included Jordan Spieth. 

But his professional career faltered, first with a stress fracture in his back and then in February 2016 tragedy struck. Cantlay’s best friend and caddie Chris Roth was killed by a hit-and-run driver 10 feet in front of him during a night out in Newport Beach, California.

It has been an understandably slow process in putting back together his life, but now the 25year-old Cantlay is starting to look on course to fulfil his his potential.

Lucas Glover is making his move.

The American has strung together three successive birdies which, along with one at the second, has seen him soar to seven under par and just two shots off the lead.

Can you believe world number one Dustin Johnson has never finished better than tied-28th at the Players Championship? 

Well that should change today - he finished two under par after a round of 68 and is currently tied-17th.

Louis Oosthuizen has given himself a chance of taking an outright lead with a fantastic approach at the par-five second that takes him to within six feet of the pin.

The South African steps up, rolls his putt pin-wards and down it goes for a birdie.

A doff of the cap, he's the new leader.

Well, we have a four-way tie for the lead!

We said it would chop and change on Sunday, but both Kyle Stanley and JB Holmes have bogeyed the first to spring Louis Oosthuizen and Kim Si-Woo back into a share of top spot.

It was a nervy start from the round-three leaders, Stanley in the sand and Holmes overhitting his approach to the first green.

And that puts Ian Poulter just one off the lead.

We reckon JB Holmes had 13 practice swings before duffing his chip on to the first green. Could be a long day.

Co-leader Kyle Stanley finds himself having to play off the up-slope following his tee shot, playing partner JB Holmes has a better lie on the fairway.

Stanley can only pick out the sand, while Holmes is on the green... and off it again, it clips the slope at the back of the smooth stuff and rolls down the bank.

Holmes clips on, but it's not got the legs. A tricky putt for par to come.

Saying that, Ian Poulter then finds the green in two on the par-five second and has a chance for eagle.

He rolls one up to within two feet of the pin and surely it will be a birdie at the second for the Englishman.

Poulter has started as he played most of yesterday's round and the worry is that he was not able to convert a decent birdie chance on the first.  

His putter will need to warm up - he had 29 putts yesterday and ranks only 40th in the field for shots gained on the greens.  

His long game still looks very reliable but he wants to see some putts disappear if he is to contend down the stretch.

Sergio Garcia is in the longer grass to the left of the green at the second, but it's a tidy lie for the Masters champion.

He chips it up on to the green, but it runs on and leaves work to do for Sergio, but it's a fantastic putt for birdie.

Meanwhile, there's also an early birdie for Kim Si-Woo, who moves to eight under par.

A confident putt from the South Korean at the first, he finds the centre of the cup from seven feet and moves level with playing partner Louis Oosthuizen.

As the leaderboard chopped and changed around him, JB Holmes' consistency down the front nine kept him in contention before three birdies after the turn sent the American into the clubhouse with a share of the lead.

The only blemish on that back nine was a bogey at 14, where Holmes did well to only drop one stroke after sending a wayward tee shot into the trees.

"Until the last three holes it was very windy and very tough. It was hard for me to hit fairways," said Holmes, adding that he was used to hitting recovery shots from tough positions. 

"I grew up in the woods playing golf... it was just a throw-back to how I played junior golf."

He's about to take to the tee.

The putts weren't dropping for Ian Poulter yesterday, when he only made one birdie in a bogey-free round - that came at the second.

The Englishman has a chance to pull a shot back on the leaders at the first, but he can't convert. Poulter leaves it short and left, and will have to settle for another par.

That's 29 successive holes without dropping a shot, mind.

We've seen plenty of shots find their way into the water this week, but Ryan Moore nearly became the first player in the drink...

If Ian Poulter is feeling any nerves on Sunday, he certainly isn't showing them.

A 275-yard opening drive is followed up with a fantastic approach that clips the fringes at the right of the green and scuttles down towards the pin.

Poulter has around a seven or eight-foot putt for birdie.
