  1. Bogey for Kisner at 16published at 23:37 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -6 Kisner

Kisner cannot hole this one from 10 feet for par and he drops to six under, three behind our leader, who has a very nice cushion at this stage of the proceedings. Five players are sharing second.

    Thomas (-9 after 17)

Squeaky bum time, as Sir Alex Ferguson would say, has arrived.

Justin Thomas still has that slightly anxious look across his face as he tees off on the last, his teeth clenching even more as his pushes his ball into the fairway bunker on the right.

This one is not over yet...

  3. Splash!published at 23:35 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

The hand comes off the club again and this time it's justified as Matsuyama's tee shot flies left and into the little stream that winds its way up the 18th fairway. Surely his race is run now?

That drive was as good a shot as ever you are likely to see from Thomas. What a couple of hours of play it has been. All the cards are in his hand now.

  5. Birdie for Thomaspublished at 23:33 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Thomas (-9 after 17)

Is there any better feeling in golf than striding onto a green and marking your ball on a par-three green ahead of a birdie putt? Certainly not for a 15-handicapper.

And if you're within touching distance of your first major then it must be a similar feeling for one of the world's best.

Justin Thomas sticks a dime behind his ball then crouches down to assess the task ahead.

Here we go... his ball scampers towards the hole, threatens to veer left, but clings on to the left lip... and drops!

Thomas is two shots clear going down the last...

  6. Birdie finish for Oosthuizenpublished at 23:32 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -6 Oosthuizen

They are flying in from all over the place now, that must have been a 45-footer for Oosthuizen and he finishes six under.

  7. Matsuyama stays two backpublished at 23:30 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -6 Matsuyama (16)

Kisner is on in two at the treacherous 16th but he is going to have a similar putt to the one Oosthuizen had, a daunting 90 feet from the flag. A hole ahead, Matsuyama rolls up his own long range putt neatly and he records a safe par three to stay at six under.

    Level Casey (after 18)

England's Paul Casey on BBC TV: "Holes like 17 are going to be pivotal today.

"I'm happy with the way I ground it out. But it's a course where you have to be on top of ball striking and I wasn't."

    Thomas (-8 after 16)

Next up for Justin Thomas... the island hole that is not quite an island. The water between tee and green on the par-three 17th will look as big as an ocean for the American...

Or maybe it won't! What. A. Shot. Under intense pressure, Thomas perfectly executes a draw off the tee which hits the dancefloor and sidles up to the hole like a confident lothario.

  10. Reed finishes six underpublished at 23:23 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    67 for Reed

It's a closing bogey for Reed, he cannot hole from 15 feet and he finishes level with Molinari at six under. Those two may not win but they have both carded 67's today, pretty good going under the pressure.

  11. Par for Thomaspublished at 23:22 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Thomas (-8 after 16)

Justin Thomas looks like someone who is just about to go into an interview for the job of his dreams. Slightly stoney-faced, trying to mask that he isn't nervous.

The world number 14 studiously looks over the course planner with his caddie, making sure that they're reading this six-foot par putt correctly.

Indeed they are. Thomas confidently sinks it. Nerves? What nerves?

  13. Matsuyama drops backpublished at 23:19 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -6 Matsuyama (16)

After three rounds of the Championship 76 balls had been in the water at the three Green Mile holes, 16, 17 and 18. Matsuyama stayed afloat at 16 but his putt for a par from four feet lips out and he drops to six under, two behind his playing partner Thomas.

    Thomas (-8 after 15)

Thomas looks a bit tense on the 16th. Funny that seeing as he's within touching distance of his maiden major.

The American marches up the green after assessing his lie in the bunker, sussing out where he is going to land his ball.

He's got a plan. Can he execute it? Yes, he can. A brilliant flick ends up within the length of a flagstick from the hole.

    He's scrabbling...

  15. Kisner birdiepublished at 23:17 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -7 Kisner (15)

Calmly done for Kevin from two feet for birdie. He is up to seven under now, one of three players just the one shot behind our leader Justin Thomas.

    Thomas (-8 after 15)

Justin Thomas is walking up the Green Mile. The leader sizes up his approach on 16... 184 yards to go. Oh no. His iron gets snagged in the rough, ball squirting out before trundling into the bunker in front of the green. Hope for the chasing pack here...

  17. Matsuyama in dangerpublished at 23:13 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    -7 Matsuyama (15)

Matsuyama's approach from above his feet in thick rough bounds through the green but comes to rest in the thick stuff only a couple of paces from the lake. He will have a tough up and down for par to stay at seven under.

  18. Clubhouse leader Rickie Fowlerpublished at 23:10 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

    Fowler -5 (after 18) - 3 behind leader Thomas

Fowler speaking to Rishi Persad on BBC TV: "It's so fun to put together a good back nine and make some good par saves coming in.

"We'll wait and see the boys finish up. JT's out there in front and I'm looking forward to him playing well. I'm not rooting against anyone - there's a lot of golf to be played.

"I felt like I had a good chance and this would have been a good place to get my first major but the last three holes put me too far back yesterday."

    Rickie Fowler

    Reed (-7 after 17), Thomas (-8 after 15)

Patrick Reed is not going away quietly. A testy par putt disappears down the drain and leaves the American just a shot behind Justin Thomas.

Thomas on the 16th tee... he's walking after his ball to pick up his peg. That's when you know he likes it.

A 322-yard drive sails over the bunker on the right-side of the fairway, ending up in the first cut on the slight left-to-right bend.

  20. Final pair at the 15thpublished at 23:09 British Summer Time 13 August 2017

Kisner, having made back to back bogeys from the 11th, puts himself in fine position for consecutive birdies as he launches a full-blooded three-wood to the back of the green in two at the par five. A birdie here would take him to seven under, one behind Thomas. Stroud, who is five under, is just short of the green in two.
