    J Rahm -6 (12)

Jon Rahm is having a little wobble on the 13th. The Spaniard pushes his tee shot into greenery reminiscent of the beautiful forests in his native Basque Country, then knocks his second into the water in front of the green. Looks like a dropped shot is coming...

  4. Back-to-back Stenson birdiespublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    H Stenson -6 (8)

There's just birdie klaxons going off all over Augusta - not literally, that would very much be against protocol.

Henrik Stenson is the latest to get involved, following up his chip-in on the seventh with another birdie at the eighth.

    And breathe...

    T Fleetwood -5 (14)

Royal blue is the chosen colour of Tommy Fleetwood today, a baseball cap to match his polo shirt - but it's simply red on the Southport man's card in this third round.

He lashes an approach some 230 yards over the water hazard lurking in front of the 15th green and hands himself an outside chance of eagle from 24 feet.

    R McIlroy -9 (8)

Augusta is bubbling. If Patrick Reed doesn't know why there was a huge roar from up ahead then he will when he next glances up at the leaderboard. He's got company...

I haven't heard a roar like that for Rory since 1986 when Jack Nicklaus was turning the tables.

You could give him another 50 balls and he wouldn't pop one in like that, what a shot!

  10. McIlroy takes share of the leadpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    R McIlroy -9 (8)

Rory McIlroy has 267 yards to go on the par-five eighth, giving it a good wallop greenwards. Unfortunately it kicks off the right side of a mound in front of the green. Our man Ken Brown describes that as "being in Alcatraz".

Well Ken, Rory has just busted out, swam across San Fran bay and escaped... he's only gone and holed a 23-yard chip for eagle. Incredible!

  11. Fleetwood on the risepublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    T Fleetwood -5 (14)

Tommy Fleetwood sees what's going on at the top of the leaderboard and decides he fancies some of that.

The Englishman makes it three successive birdies through 12, 13 and 14 to move to five under - not a blemish on the Race to Dubai champion's card today.

  13. Who is going to win?published at 21:03 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

Our colleagues on Radio 5 live have stuck their necks on the chopping block. Let them talk you through the last few hours play - coverage just getting under way at the top of this page...

Correspondent Iain Carter - Rory McIlroy - Has always had the game and now he has the mentality to master Augusta.

Presenter Mark Chapman - Jordan Spieth - he’s been there and done it.

Alistair Bruce-Ball - I think Patrick Reed will see this though. Dream pairing on Sunday would be Reed and McIlroy.

Commentator John Murray - Jordan Spieth. His record here is so good. He is clearly in form and I think the other players will fear what he brings to the table.

    P Reed -9 (7)

Patrick Reed is ticking off the pars. He'll be happy with that as rest of the field take the spotlight with a flurry or birdies and bogeys.

The American maintains his two-shot lead heading into the eighth.

    R Fowler -7 (9), J Rahm -6 (12)

After having to settle for a par on the ninth, Rickie Fowler puts his foot on the pedal again on the par-three 10th. He flights a wonderful approach that gives him another look at a birdie...

Back on 12... Jon Rahm leaves his chip on a little short. Here's a test of his mettle... ah, no bother. A firm clenched fistpump tells us exactly how big a hold that is.

  17. Birdie for Johnsonpublished at 21:00 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    D Johnson -5 (8), J Spieth -4 (8), B Watson -4 (10)

It's hard to tell what Jordan Spieth is thinking, that poker-faced expression doesn't give much away.

He's got a five-foot putt for par on the eighth, and makes it. But birdies are the order of the day...

And that's just what playing partner Dustin Johnson has done, helping one home from 12 feet. Lovely.

Bubba Watson's just served one up at 10 as well! Cancelling out one of the back-to-back bogeys he made at eight and nine.

    J Rahm -6 (11)

"Sit. Sit. SIT!" Jon Rahm gets increasingly tetchy as he watches his tee shot on the 12th head towards the bushes at the back. It does listen, however, landing on the grass just short of the shrubs. Not an easy lie, though...

    T Fleetwood -4 (13)

Tommy Fleetwood is coming up on the rails. Back-to-back birdies for the Englishman to move up on the shoulder of the leaders. They will call a day's holiday in Southport if he wins here...
