    J Thomas -5 (8), J Rahm -6 (11)

Justin Thomas makes no mistake with his birdie putt on the eighth... can Jon Rahm move up alongside McIlroy, Fowler and Leishman on seven under? It's close but it's not quite right. The Spanish world number three watches his ball hit the right lip and circle the hole before staying up.

Not only are these two playing for the Green Jacket, they are also playing for the right to become world number one.

    I'd pay to watch this.

    J Thomas -4 (7)

Justin Thomas rubs his right temple with his index and middle fingers. Safe to say that isn't a good thing. He lags his eagle putt on the eighth, making a birdie far from a formality.

Elsewhere, Jon Rahm knocks his approach on the 11th to makeable birdie distance, while Henrik Stenson splashes in from the sand on seven for a birdie.

Action everywhere you look at Augusta.

Justin Rose uses the ball number 99. I don't know whether he likes ice creams but there must be a reason for it.

  5. 'Great to hit a green'published at 20:44 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    M Fitzpatrick E

Matthew Fitzpatrick shot a five-under 67 to bring him back to level for the tournament.

"It's great to hit a green," he tells BBC Two. "I drove well all week and today with it being a little softer it was easy to get a few pins.

"I played two great shots (on the 15th for eagle). We were concerned we wouldn't get it there in two, it was nice to get a bit of revenge."

Asked how he expects the course to play later today, he adds: "It depends on the weather, if it dries out a bit I'm sure it will get firm."

    J Rose -3 (8), J Thomas -4 (7)

Justin Rose can't continue on the birdie train, instead having to settle for a par five on the eighth. When he clears off the green, another Justin - surname Thomas - gets the nod in the group behind. He wallops a fairway wood over the brow and onto the green. He can't see it but let me tell you... he's got a 25-foot eagle putt. Splendid stuff.

Rory is swinging beautifully, the sound of the ball coming off the club face is delightful.

    P Reed -9, M Leishman -7 (6)

That's almost perfect from Marc Leishman, dinking on from just off the green and watching his ball gently swerve towards the cup for what would be a birdie.

It settles up a few inches from its target. He stays seven under.

Patrick Reed is looking at back-to-back birdies. It's a mid-range putt down the slope, but that was never dropping.

The greens are a little slower this morning, there is a bit of moisture on them and they are not quite as quick as we've seen them on a Saturday.

  11. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    D Johnson -4, J Spieth -4 (7)

All these marvelous shots, it's like Dustin Johnson craves some attention of his own. He drops an approach to within his imposing world number one frame of the cup from 127 yards at the seventh.

Can he convert for birdie? Ah, it drifts right. Par.

Jordan Spieth offers up a birdie serving of his own, and feasts on it from six feet to return to level par for the day and four under for the tournament.

  13. Birdie for Fowlerpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    R Fowler -7 (8)

You almost need a referee to separate Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy at the moment. They're trading punches at a ferocious pace. Fowler sinks another lengthy putt on the par-four eighth - he's only needed eight putts so far today.

He makes it a threesome with McIlroy and Marc Leishman in tied second.

    H Stenson -4, R McIlroy -7 (6)

Oh. My. Word. Rory McIlroy is in the zone. He almost aces the sixth. Perfect swing, fantastic flight, one bounce, a little roll and it nearly has the legs to drop in for a hole in one.

McIlroy jigs on the spot, willing it to drop. It doesn't but leaves him with a simple putt that even you or I could knock in one-handed.

  16. Birdies for Reed and Rahmpublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    P Reed -9 (5), J Rahm -6 (10)

That's the composure of a potential Masters champion.

Patrick Reed, 19 feet from the pin, trots up to his ball and confidently pops it away for a birdie that takes him to nine under and a two-stroke lead.

Jon Rahm is also sneaking into the conversation! It's a birdie at the 10th for the Spaniard.

  17. Fowler & Rahm on charge with magnificent shotspublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

Rickie Fowler sinks a magnificent birdie on the sixth hole and Jon Rahm chips in for an eagle on the eighth to move up the leaderboard in the third round of the Masters.

    D Johnson -4, J Spieth -3 (6)

Jordan Spieth saves par, after a wobbly first putt on the sixth. He endured a pretty tricky start to Friday's round and it's not been that easy going so far for the American on day three.

BBC Radio 5 live's Alistair Bruce-Ball is heading to a commentary position between the 15th green and 16th tee with PGA Tour winner Andrew Magee.

They, and the rest of the team will be live on your wireless in about 30 minutes.

And if you've not seen the Morning Drive yet, I urge you take a look...ABB and John Murray are joined in the car by Mark Chapman to discuss whether they actually want Patrick Reed to win and bumping into Alan Shearer on the first fairway on Friday.

    H Stenson -4, R McIlroy -6 (5)

Rory McIlroy is certainly enjoying himself out there, looking as relaxed as we've ever seen him at Augusta. Last year he said Masters week made him "stressful", This week it looks stressless.

The four-time major winner evens manages a wry smile when that birdie putt on the fifth grins to a halt about six inches short of the hole.
