The rain has stopped around the 15th green and the Tiger Woods crowds have arrived.

I wonder if Tiger was thinking about the year he hit the pin and went into the water. He's so far back there with his third shot he might be 20-25 feet from the pin.

He's got an uphill putt and he's got a chance but this isn't your local club event where you can bash putts in from 25-feet.

    Woods -5, Rahm -5 (14)

Cautious, very cautious. Woods is well short of the pin on the 15th, meaning a tough two putts to save par lie ahead.

Rahm looks like his about to turn green and burst out of his shirt like the Incredible Hulk.

The patrons pick up their seats and bags, forming a corridor for Rahm to punch through back to the green. But he's not given it enough and he's still short of the dancefloor.

  3. Garcia going home?published at 23:35 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Garcia +4 (18)

Sergio Garcia looks to be on the next flight home. The 2017 champion bogeys the last and drops through the trapdoor that calls itself the projected cut.

    Woods -5, Rahm -5 (14)

Safety first from Tiger. He lollops a short iron high over the trees ahead and lays up in front of the water on the par-five 15th.

Rahm is more cavalier, however. The Spaniard sprays his second, from the middle of the fairway, way right.

Patrons on the turf next to the grandstand overlooking the 16th tee have to cover their heads and hope for the best.

    As, we suspect, Rahm is.

  6. Momentum maintained...published at 23:32 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Schauffele -5 (15) Oosthuizen -7 (16) Fleetwood -1 (15)

Some momentum-maintaining putts are downed. Louis Oosthuizen on 16 - comes up short off the tee and two putts uphill, the second one a good hole out from 12ft.

Xander Schauffele on 15 rolls a long one for eagle and comes back with eight feet or so for a good birdie. That's three in a row for the California-born dude.

Tommy Fleetwood follows Schauffele into the cup for birdie and he is back into red numbers.

If there was a swear box with Jon Rahm and Tiger Woods then it would be overflowing with dollar bills.

Woods is the latest cursing after pulling his drive left... again. Another hole, another spot of lumberjacking for the GOAT.

    Thanks for heckling me...

The Masters looks a real picture doesn't it. It never disappoints does it? No wonder players go all gooey when it comes to talk of the Augusta National... in this case former world number one Luke Donald....

    Here's his story:

My very first Masters in 2005 with my bro (@mrjean68, external) on the bag. I couldn’t have been more excited to be finally playing in The Masters, something I had dreamed about thousands of times as a young boy growing up.

On Sunday I went out in 1 over par and on the 10th hole, hit my approach left of the green and made a sloppy double bogey and for the first time all week I was over par for the tournament. .As I walked off the 11th tee, my head slightly down, a fan (sorry patron!) heckled me from the crowd. It caught me off guard to be honest. I was playing with Tim Herron that day & I will always remember his caddie Scotty Steele (RIP) went straight over to the patron and gave him an earful. I always appreciated what Scotty did that day!.The point of the story is that in a weird way I want to thank that heckler - I went from feeling a bit down and sorry for myself to being fired up. I chipped in for birdie on 11, eagled 13, eagled 15 and nearly made a hole in one on 16, tapping in for birdie. After double bogeying 10, I played the next 8 holes in 6 under, finishing 5 under for the event and T3rd. It was probably one of the greatest stretches of golf I’ve ever had on a golf course & it came on Sunday on the back nine of my very 1st Masters. What dreams are made of.....#talesfromaugusta, external

Adam Scott has set himself up with a best possible opportunity from where he was. He could not have done much better than that.

As a player you ask yourself can I control my iron shots around here to give myself the best possible chance. You cannot afford to miss your target around here and hope to have any success at all.

  11. Postpublished at 23:24 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Scott -7 (17)

Adam Scott bounces back from that error on the 16th green with a par on the next. The Aussie is the thick of that five-man tussle for the lead.

  12. Woods attracting all the attentionpublished at 23:22 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Woods -5, Rahm -5 (14)

    Peter Scrivener
    BBC Sport at Augusta National

As I strolled back from the course a little earlier, it was impossible not to drop on by the second green. There were thousands of patrons crammed round, which could only mean one thing. Tiger Woods.

After Woods holed out for par, hundreds swarmed across to the third tee, where those of us squeezed in with the best view behind the players, were suddenly squeezed some more. A thwack with the driver and he was gone. And so were the patrons. The few us left looked on, slightly bemused before I sauntered off back across the ninth and first fairways.

Now the media centre is usually a quite reserved and quiet place. There's a low hum as a couple of hundred journalists file copy, chat to neighbours and scurry off to player news conferences.

This afternoon the peace has been punctuated several times by ooohs and aaahs as Tiger Woods plots his way round the course. It's not everyone, just the odd few but it's abundantly clear who some want to win on Sunday.

  13. Bogey for Rorspublished at 23:21 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    McIlroy +1 (13)

As we told you, Rory McIlroy played into water on 13 - a par five. He can't escape without doing damage and now moves above par. The cut line is close and he will be absolutely raging.

Tee shot on 14 is good though, up the middle.

  14. Birdie for Woodspublished at 23:21 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Woods -5, Rahm -5 (14)

Tiger grimaces that grimace that we've seen all too frequently from a man who has had more surgery than an ageing Hollywood star.

A slight limp as he wanders to safety on the fairway, but I think he's OK as he lines up another birdie putt.

He's definitely OK! Woods almost nonchalantly knocks in from 15 feet, sneaking in down the left side of the hole... he's two off the lead!

And the former world number one is alongside playing partner Jon Rahm on five under - the Spaniard producing a save which David de Gea would be proud of.

It was one of the police officers they have around here and he slid on the ground and took out Tiger's right ankle.

It did not look anything like what you expect at Augusta National.

  16. Postpublished at 23:17 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Woods -4, Rahm -5 (13)

Strange things happen in the trees... and it is all going off on the 14th.

Jon Rahm is getting tetchy as someone chirps up behind him, but then settles down to knock short of the green.

Back to Tiger... he spots a gap in the branches and uses his iron like a stencil to draw the perfect line on the shot-tracker.

That's only half the drama. The boisterous crowd race after the ball, causing panicking course marshal to run in and protect Woods.

Unfortunately he loses his footing on the wet surface and almost takes out the 14-time major champion with a sliding tackle that Eric Dier would be proud of.

Definite yellow card, possible red after VAR review.

  17. We have five leaders!published at 23:16 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

    Oosthuizen -7 (15)

This guy isn't messing around today. He doesn't try to air mail one down the 15th off the tee, instead shunting down the par five drag before laying up.

He pitches in to within three feet and blows home. No need to smash it off the tee when you can take a classy route like that.

  18. Birdiepublished at 23:13 British Summer Time 12 April 2019

We have someone on the move. American Xander Schauffele - a winner on PGA Tour and an impressive young player - fizzes into 14 and leaves eight feet. Putts it, walks immediately as he knows it's good.

That's birdie-birdie and he has a par five next. Just 25 years of age and four wins on the PGA Tour. He's worth respecting now.

Dave: If the organisers want to avoid a Monday finish they could use another Adam Scott birdie that would reduce the weekend field by six.

Andrew: By the time Sunday afternoon comes around the Leaderboard at the Masters allows the cream rise to the top, but already at this stage it reads as a who’s who of professional golf.
