  2. What a shot!published at 17:57 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy +1 Leishman +1 (8)

It's feast or famine for Marc Leishman right now as he sticks one to within a foot from the middle of the fairway. His round so far has two birdies and three bogeys but he will bring the scores level with a tap in.

Rory meanwhile is having problems. His swing looks good but suddenly only one hand holds the club, it's a look of frustration and he watches his ball land in the bunker.

  3. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Langer -1, Cabrera Bello E (2)

Easy does it for Bernhard Langer. He ticks off successive pars to remain at one under par through two today.

Rafa Cabrera Bello bogeys the par-five second, not the start he had in mind.

  4. Cantlay can playpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Cantlay -3 (11)

American Patrick Cantlay cutting this place up right now, rolling home birdie on the horrible 11th hole. So many struggle there, not him. He's got five tweet tweets today. There's a very low score for someone.

    Who wants it bad enough?

  5. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Spieth -1 (3)

Nothing simple about Jordan Spieth's round so far today.

Birdie, double bogey, birdie... and after three holes he's back where he started.

The American almost found the green off the tee, before guiding on a deft chip and scuttling a putt in for three.

  6. Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy +1, Leishman +1 (8)

Rory goes left again off the tee, but manages to avoid the woodland this time.

His drive settles in the second cut, and Marc Leishman follows him in.

  7. Par for Rorypublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy +1, M Leishman +1 (8)

Straight into the cup from Rory McIlroy for a welcome par.

No such luck for Marc Leishman, mind, he falls back to one over with a bogey at the eighth.

  8. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy +1 (7)

Purposeful stride from Rory as he makes the green in three, having taken the scenic route through the trees on the left of the fairway.

Some 20 feet or so to make birdie from there though. He leaves it slightly right, but that should be down in par to bring to an end his run of bogeys.

  9. Double bogey for Spiethpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Spieth E (2)

Nightmare for Jordan Spieth at the second.

The American slightly overcooks his approach to the green, but didn't look in too much danger on the par five with the pin position in the top left corner.

However he three putts to card a SEVEN and drop back to level par for the tournament.

    Ouch.

  10. Tree magnet!published at 17:39 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy +1 (7)

Meanwhile on the other side of the fairway to Marc Leishman, Rory McIlroy is hugging trees.

This pairing are all action. He simply chips to the fairway while Leishman fizzes a low ball flight under trees and up the fairway.

  11. Good luck!published at 17:37 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Leishman E (7)

Marc Leishman here, on a patch of Augusta National where no one wants to be.

Good luck my friend. Hit it and pray.

  12. Rory drops anotherpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Leishman E (7) McIlroy +1 (7)

Rory McIlroy and Marc Leishman make a pig's ear of the testing par-four seventh.

Rory doesn't take enough club out and ends up short of the green while the Australian goes over the back. They take different paths but end up at the same place - dropped shot.

  13. Cantlay on the chargepublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Cantlay -2 (9)

Cracking opening nine for Patrick Cantlay.

The 27-year-old American has rattled in four birdies already to take him from two over par to two under.

Keep this up after the turn and he could force his way into contention.

  14. Langer under waypublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    B Langer -1, R Cabrera Bello -1 (1)

Now then, 61-year-old Bernhard Langer has been rolling back the years this week at Augusta.

The German has two Green Jackets in his wardrobe, with the first of those coming before playing partner Rafa Cabrera Bello had even turned one years old.

Langer tees up an early birdie chance, but tickles his putt just past the flag and will tap in for an opening par - Cabrera Bello follows suit.

  15. Phil's top video...published at 17:26 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    Mickelson -4 (18:45 BST)

A quality bit of video uploaded by Phil 'The Thrill' Mickelson.

In it he references Matt Kuchar not quite paying his bag man enough and also details why there is one course on earth where you could do with hitting "bombs".

This is well worth two minutes of your time...

  16. Birdie for Spiethpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    J Spieth -2 (1)

Ding, ding... no messing around from Jordan Spieth.

The 2015 champion rolls in from 11 feet to kick off his weekend with a birdie.

    Watch this space...

  17. Spieth on the firstpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    J Spieth -1 (17:05)

Jordan Spieth is just getting his third round up and running.

The former world number one recovered from an opening day 75 to shoot a four-under-par 68 on Friday.

The American is on the green in two, a lovely wedged approach to within 11 feet of the pin.

  18. Bogey for Rorypublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy E (6)

    McIlroyImage source, Getty Images

That knee-knocker I just mentioned for Rory... yep, the knees rattled and he missed it. That's a drop on six and back to level. Just can't get it going. He has his silly string, some party hats, a few balloons, but no music to bring the whole thing together.

  19. Double for Si Woo...published at 17:11 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy -1 (5) S Kim E (4)

Poor old Si Woo Kim. Starts his day with two smart birdies and then hits the sand on four, chunks one a few inches while in the trap, two putts and that's a five on a par three. Wave goodbye to those shots. Plenty of time to get them back sir.

Rory goes over the sixth green like a missile and has to chip back. A knee-knocker remains for his par though...

  20. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 13 April 2019

    McIlroy -1 (4) Leishman -1 (4)

Marc Leishman walks up to his ball on the fifth green with a trudge. He knows he's left that lag putt short and he has a dicey one to come for par. He takes the putter back, strokes it smoothly, nice work. Keeps him one under par.

Rory, white slacks, grey polo, follows him in for his par.
