  1. Nine pars in a row for Van Rooyenpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Van Rooyen -4 (16)

South African Erik van Rooyen has never finished higher than 17th at The Open, but he’s currently tied for fifth at Royal Portrush.

He’s not made any moves since the seventh hole today, though. His birdie putt on the 16th curves round too much and it’s another par.

  2. 'I have a lot of memories here'published at 11:22 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Lehman +12 (F)

Former champion Tom Lehman has to take a minute to hold back the tears before he talks about his final Open round on Sky Sports:

"It was such a great moment to share with my oldest son [Thomas, his caddie]. I have a lot of memories and history here. I'm humbled to be a professional golfer.

"Through my competitive career, I rarely looked back. I'm almost always looking forward."

  3. Koepka chasing birdiespublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Koepka -4 (12)

Brooks Koepka is green-high in two on the par-five 12th. But, crucially, he's in some claggy rough. He pops his ball out but that's got some pace on it and it zips past the hole, leaving him another outside birdie sniff.

The radar not quite fully on for the world number one at the moment but he's battling hard.

That radar suddenly beeps into action though. The birdie putt is right on track and drops to a huge cheer.

  4. Holmes maintains two-shot leadpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Holmes -8 (7)

JB Holmes has a big job on his hands getting out of a bunker and into a good position on the seventh green.

He’s out of the bunker, but the green undulates and the good position is too much to ask.

The leader’s birdie putt gets up the ledge and he taps in for par.

  5. Woods misses birdiepublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Woods +6 (3)

    Ouch.

Tiger's birdie putt just edges left of the hole on the fourth.

  6. Fleetwood's fortune leads to birdie...published at 11:14 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Fleetwood -5 (12)

    Alex Bysouth
    BBC Sport at Royal Portrush

Tommy Fleetwood’s delightful chip on to the green at 12 brought the same spectrum of “oohs” and “aahs” from the crowd behind him as a grandparent cooing over a new born baby. Tommy was almost left having to splash around the in the stream below after leaving his approach in the valley.

Nice one Alex, Fleetwood chipped and putted out for birdie, moving him to five under.

  7. Bunker life for Holmespublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Holmes -8 (6)

A rare blip for JB Holmes!

The leader has been nothing short of on fire today, but his second shot on the par-five seventh bobbles into a bunker to the right of the green.

  8. Chances and hacks...published at 11:11 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Westwood -3 (5) Spieth -5 (9) Hatton -6 (13)

Jordan Spieth points right, his ball is heading that way off the tee on 10. Remember he just made bogey at the last.

He's in thick, thick rough but digs out with a hard, hard swing and it's on the green. Two putts and he will escape with a par.

Tyrrell Hatton goes over the flag on 13 and now has around 15ft for birdie. This to get to seven under.... left to right... breaks too much.

    Yes Westy!

Lee Westwood has five pars but puts his tee shot within 5ft on six. Has to be a birdie...

    Woods +6 (3)

Wood's second shot isn't bad either. It sails over the flag but lands dead and the American will have a birdie putt, albeit a pretty tricky one.

  10. There's a storm coming...or is it just another shower?published at 11:08 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Alex Bysouth
    BBC Sport at Royal Portrush

There’s a breeze beginning to sweep through Royal Portrush that in the past few days has often acted as a warning for the rain arriving.

It’s also carrying the smell of burgers and hot dogs with it, wafting around a stench that’s trying to tempt people into lunch as it is readied in the nearby food stalls.

A few rumbling stomachs. Or is that thunder? Let’s hope not...

  11. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Woods +6 (3)

Tiger Woods gets his three wood out on the par-four fourth and it's a tasty tee shot, landing nicely between the bunkers.

  12. Rahm rattledpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Rahm -1 (2)

Jon Rahm is out with the putter for his third shot on the par-five second. He gives his ball a whack up the hill. But, like Tiger Woods before him, his ball barely makes it to the top of the slope.

However, unlike Tiger's ball, which stuck on the green, Rahm's comes trundling back towards him. He steps aside and watches as the ball rolls a dozen yards further away from the hole.

He signals to his caddie to get a wedge out. A bump, a run but no no no! Jon Rahm is going to explode. The ball is back at his feet again.

A different club. You can guarantee this is getting up the hill. Boof. Up it flies, rattles the pin and then scoots off the front of the green.

Shot six is a putt, stone dead. But that's a double-bogey. Five shots from 15 yards.

High handicappers of the world...unite and take over.

  13. Lehman completes final Open roundpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Lehman +12 (F)

American Tom Lehman is playing his final Open and stops with his caddie and son Thomas on the 18th. The 60-year-old can't hold back the tears as he contemplates his last hole at The Open - the 1996 champion is on +12 and is unlikely to make the cut.

The crowd whistles and cheers as he slots the ball in for a par. Phew, this is a lot of emotion for 11am.

  14. Bogey!published at 10:59 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Spieth -5 (9)

The Jordan Spieth run of scoring ends on nine where he leaves himself 40ft for par. He rattles the back of the cup with it but the ball bounces up. Close but no cigar. Back to five under and a mater of seconds J.B has just opened a nice lead.

  15. Back-to-back birdies for Holmespublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Holmes -8 (6)

JB Holmes' tee shot lands nicely on the green and he sends the 10ft birdie putt straight into the middle of the hole.

What a morning he’s having. The American has a three-shot lead now.

    Rahm -3 (1)

Jon Rahm is out with the fairway wood on the second, trying to reach the par-five's green in two. He gives it a thump and the ball is right on line. But there's a big ramp to get up and his ball runs out of steam, wandering off to the left.

He's in a similar position to the one Tiger Woods found himself in a few minutes ago. Woods took three to get down, what will the Spaniard do?

  17. Eaglepublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Hadwin -1 (8)

Adam Hadwin is all high fives and positive vibes in the fairway as he's just holed out from the middle of the eighth fairway for eagle.

Hadwin once broke 60 on the PGA Tour. Maybe he's just getting started.

  18. Par for Woodspublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Woods +6 (2)

Tiger Woods slaps his putter head as he finishes off a three-putt for par.

    Opportunity missed.

  19. Solid parspublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Koepka -4, Oosthuizen -2 (10)

Brooks Koepka is on the 10th green, stalking another lengthy birdie putt. He just can't seem to get the ball in close at the moment. And that is leading to two-putt pars.

Louis Oosthuizen is a little closer but has a huge ridge to negotiate first. It's a quick swinger. Too quick. And too er...swingy. Par.

There is very little wind out there, the flags hanging limply on their sticks. The weather forecast suggested their was some rain coming in around 11am.

It's all looking rather pleasant out there.

  20. New leaderpublished at 10:48 British Summer Time 19 July 2019

    Holmes -7 (5)

JB Holmes' second shot on the par-four fifth didn't look like it was setting up a birdie as it bounced away to the right of the hole.

But the American nails his putt and takes the lead again.
