“Bring it home, Shane,” is the cry on the 10th - the Irishman is about two hours away from hoisting the Claret Jug. Expect the volume to just keep cranking up from here on in.

  2. Rose wiltspublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Rose -3 (11)

It's a day England's Justin Rose will want to forget about - he's six over for the day, and has bogeyed 11 - the third bogey in his last four holes.

  3. Triple drop...published at 16:26 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Holmes -2 (11) Koepka -5 (11)

JB Holmes just had himself a nice little tour of the 11th hole. Deep rough on the left, across the fairway and beyond the ropes, onto the green, missed putt. Chuck a seven on your card sir and move on.

The king of the majors Brooks Koepka is playing alongside him and he drops a single shot, leaving him three over today and five under all in.

  4. Six clear...published at 16:22 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

There was they slightest flicker of fear on Shane Lowry’s face as for a millisecond it looked like that putt at 10 might be a rotation short, before a huge fist pump when it dropped.

“He’s missed it!” cried a punter as Tommy Fleetwood failed to drown his par putt moments later and the fans are starting to truly believe the Claret Jug is heading for an Irish home.

  6. Willett birdies, Westwood bogeyspublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Willett -8 (12), Westwood -8 (12)

Danny Willett nearly chips in at 12, but leaves himself just a couple of feet to make a birdie to cancel out an annoying bogey at 11.

But oh dear, Lee Westwood - a short putt for par rolls around the cup and away - back-to-back bogeys, and four of them overall today so far.

Fleetwood has just missed that simple put. Well well well. Is that the moment that Shane Lowry starts to gets a grasp on the Claret Jug?

  8. Fowler hold his nervepublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Fowler -7 (11)

Rickie Fowler finds deep rough to the left at the 11th, but his stabbed effort takes him some distance out into the fairway. Par is still a tough call - but he nails the putt from some distance downhill.

  9. A key moment...published at 16:16 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Incredible.

Just as you thought Tommy Fleetwood could save par with Shane Lowry maybe looking at birdie it's Lowry who holes out and Fleetwood who misses.

    THE LEAD IS SIX.

Surely, surely, the door has been closed.

A brilliant chip from Tommy Fleetwood from around 50 yards out on 10 should be enough to seal a par. Given his poor tee shot he'd have taken that. Such a fine touch to seemingly save the day.

To the man of the moment, Shane Lowry. He's through the back of the green and will also look to chip in close to set up a par. He hasn't hit it fully and he has a tester left to save par.

Key moments folks, key moments. It looks all over but is it?

    Anyone else see it?

Tommy Fleetwood's long locks are soaked. He hooks into the rough on 10 and for the first time he looks truly fed up. Has Shane Lowry broken him?

Lowry drives nicely up the fairway and into the first cut. Maybe now he's broken him...

Tommy Fleetwood has unveiled the shirt that proved such a talking point earlier in the week. He said it’s decorated with famous Northern Irish landmarks - from afar it just looks like one of those pictures you stare at until it reveals something hidden beneath.

  14. Westwood and Willett bogey the 11thpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 21 July 2019

    Westwood -9 (11), Willett -7 (11)

Both Westwood and Willett took three to reach the 11th green, and Westwood left himself the shorter putt for a par. But there's no break and it stays left - a bogey, and he slips back to nine under.

Willett also bogeys after a lengthy putt from the edge of the green stops short.

It was horrible out there a few moments ago. No one wanted to leave the tunnel between the eighth green and ninth tee. Photographers used it as quick chance to dry their lenses, the stewards who got to stay under shelter laughed.

But now it’s clearing and there is the slightest glint of sun through the clouds.

Both Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry are in trouble on nine as both have had to dig out of rough after wayward drives.

Lowry gets his fairway effort in to within 10ft and he will have that left for par. Fleetwood flicks a chip in close and has two feet left for his par.

Lowry is the key here then, can he save or will he give one back? He can't save and so back-to-back bogeys reel him in a touch closer.

    THE LEAD IS FIVE.

    As the saying goes...

"It all happens on the back nine on a major Sunday."

Any sign of the rain easing up? The forecast suggests it will be sticking around for the next hour but will ease off from five for an hour.

The rain drives into his face and Shane Lowry elects to take iron off the ninth tee. He points right, that ball is in the long stuff.

Umbrellas are up all around this tee, hundreds of them, a multi-coloured tapestry behind this grey, dank foreground.

Tommy Fleetwood gets the driver out, bold call, rough. Not as rough as Shane though.

The rain is smashing down. "Big old fat rain", as Forrest Gump once said.
