  2. A flurry of activity!!!published at 00:04 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

What a surprise, Li Haotong doesn't find the fairway on the fifth. From the rough he does get within chipping distance of the flag on the fifth.

It's a double bogey for Dustin Johnson on the ninth - he's back to five under. Painful.

Justin Rose (-4) affords himself a bit of a smile after making par at the sixth - a good solid putt. Brooks Koepka calmly putts for his par on the same hole. He's not easily unhinged.

Paul Casey birdies in the par three eighth to go to six under. He's going to do it, you know.

You may recall that on day one we saw Bryson DeChambeau break his driver, albeit clearly by accident.

But there was no doubt that Shane Lowry saw red when he broke a club yesterday, snapping it over his knee.

Have you ever lost your rag on course? Have you any stories of bad etiquette and bad behaviour where you let your standards?

This is a safe place remember, so don't be afraid to fess up. We won't judge. Let us know by using #bbcgolf, external on Twitter.

Dustin Johnson looks like he'll drop at least a shot at the ninth after his effort to get out of the sand sees him find the rough opposite.

Scottie Scheffler drops a shot at the 11th to go back to six under.

  5. Postpublished at 23:52 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Leader Li Haotong has yet another birdie chance but again sees his putt blow a kiss as it trundles past the hole. He can take heart that he is producing birdie opportunities.

    Eight under overall after five.

  6. Postpublished at 23:50 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

It's another bogey for Justin Rose at the par four fifth - he's back to four under. It was a terrible approach to the green.

  7. It's heating up at San Franpublished at 23:47 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

There are currently 16 players within three shots of leader Li Haotong.

    He's still holding them off.

Jason Day has a looong putt for a birdie at the fifth... he's about two feet short.

American Daniel Berger, who's had a great season so far, makes it a magnificent five at seven under with a birdie at the fourth.

Who do you think will win?published at 23:38 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

    #bbcgolf

Darren S: I had a few quid on 7 players at the start and 5 of them are in contention.. hoping one at least makes the top 10 so I get my money back, but Cameron Champ at 150/1 would be a VERY welcome winner!

  11. Postpublished at 23:38 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Li Haotong misses out on a birdie at the third by inches, but his putting has been pretty good so far. No nerves from the 25-year-old.

Dustin Johnson is back to seven under with a birdie having bogeyed the sixth.

Meanwhile, England's Paul Casey birdies the fifth to go to six under. Hmmm...

  12. Postpublished at 23:34 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Justin Rose (-4) plays a stunning shot from the sand to set up an easy par putt.

Reigning champion Brooks Kopeka, his partner for the day, birdies the fourth to also join the growing crew on seven under.

Rory McIlroy finishes with two bogeys to go back to level par for the championship. He probably wants to go home now.

  13. Dahmen eagles 10th to go to seven underpublished at 23:29 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Cameron Champ birdies the fourth to go to seven under - there are four now a shot behind the leader... make that five...

Joel Dahmen eagles the par five 10th - sensational stuff.

  14. Li faultless so farpublished at 23:26 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Li - cool as you like - picks up another par. He remains the leader at eight under.

  15. Postpublished at 23:25 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Not the best putt on the downslope from Li Haotong on the second - he leaves it short.

Tommy Fleetwood's putt is far better, although he still has to tap-in for a par - he stays at minus six.

  16. Postpublished at 23:24 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Scottie Scheffler has a putt at the ninth for the joint lead but it stays left instead of breaking.

He stays at seven under but is four under for the round.

  17. Postpublished at 23:20 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Brooks Kopeka (-6) makes another par on the third, while Jason Day (-7) makes par at the second.

Justin Rose (-4) just misses a birdie chance on the third. He's not best pleased with that putt and his start.

  18. Woes for Rosepublished at 23:16 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

BTW England's world number 16 Justin Rose is down from six under to four under having made two bogeys on the first two holes.

He is obviously more than capable of recovering, but can't afford many more mistakes because some of his rivals have started well.

  19. Scheffler moves to seven underpublished at 23:14 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

Wow! Scottie Scheffler (the star of the show early during the first round) has just holed from the bunker at the par-three eighth - he's now also on seven under.

Both Li and Fleetwood make par on the first.

  20. Postpublished at 23:11 British Summer Time 8 August 2020

It looks like it'll probably be par at the first for leader Haotong Li (-8) as his iron shot plops about 15 feet from the hole.

Tommy Fleetwood (-6) will have a par putt too.
