    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (5)

Do NOT go long around this Donald Ross course has been the mantra in practice, but that's exactly where Europe end up on the par three fifth and although Boutier plays a nice chip you can hear the juice in the grass and it's impossible to generate any grab for her.

Hall can't finish off the up-and-down and it's another bogey on a short hole that costs Europe another hole in this match. The par threes haven't been kind to Boutier and Hall so far.

  2. Reid & Maguire beating Kordaspublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (4)

The Korda sisters are human. They've made a right mess of the par-four fourth. Wild off the tee, dropping a shot, then heading into a greenside bunker. The escape is long and scudding through the back of the green.

With Leona Maguire and Mel Reid on the green for two, the Kordas have seen enough and concede.

We’ve said it before but we’ll say it again – Anna Nordqvist is ice cold! She’s left with a nasty seven-footer to save par and half the hole, with a tricky sliding hint of break on it as well.

The stroke is confident and true though and she gives it a lovely roll to maintain Europe’s one-up lead.

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (2)

Lexi Thompson is first to play on the par-three third. She's looking anxiously after that one, but I'm not sure why. It bounces near the pin and kicks back off the slope just beyond it. A testy 10-footer coming down the hill.

Charley Hull is up for Europe. A hope and skip from the front edge leaves her playing partner a 20-footer up the hill. Emily Pedersen can't hole though, trundling the ball up to gimme range.

Brittany Altomare to win a second successive hole... pushed it. And that has dribbled three feet by. Europe want to see Thompson putt this out. She does. Match stays level.

  5. Europe back in businesspublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 1UP (4)

A par is enough to win the hole and drag this back to just a one-hole lead for the USA, thanks mainly to Megan Khang finding trouble off the tee and needing a drop.

Boutier shows a lovely touch on the green with a nasty sliding putt down one of these shoulders that litter the putting surfaces around this course to set-up a simple par putt for Hall.

  6. US level bottom matchpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (2)

Lexi Thompson hits a pin-seeker of a second on the shortish par-five second. Charley Hull is coming from the rough and can't get as much control over her ball and it rolls a good 20 feet beyond the pin.

Emily Pedersen with the flat stick, needs to hole this you feel to get a half. Pushes it wide and long.

Brittany Altomare for the win... dead-eyed. US level the match.

  7. Postpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire A/S N Korda & J Korda (3)

Leona Maguire is first to play on the short third but just she doesn't give her tee shot enough juice, the ball coming up just short of th green.

Nelly Korda puts a good swing on her seven-iron, finding the middle of the green to give Jessica a 10-foot birdie look.

Europe are up and down for three. Jess to win the hole... no. Match stays all square.

  8. Hosts hit back in top matchpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst (5)

An instant response on the second par three in the first five holes here, with Nordqvist unable to make par after it was her tee shot that drifted left and gave Castren a monster of a putt right across the green.

  10. 'Europe's on fire, USA is terrified'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

There are no visiting fans or family at the course this week, but Europe's Anna Nordqvist says she can feel the support of her family, friends and fans "all the way from home".

    What do you reckon?

Dare I say the reprised version of Gala's 'Freed from desire' is the best of the bunch?

    Reid & Maguire A/S N Korda & J Korda (2)

Up on the par-tive second, the Korda sisters are in a greenside bunker for two after a wayward shot from Nelly. Big sis to the rescue again with a lovely splash out to four feet.

Meanwhile, Leona Maguire is standing over a 10-foot birdie putt. If the Irishwoman has any nerves this morning she's not showing them.

Can Nelly hole for the half? Straight in the middle.

  12. Europe two uppublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst (4)

That's a brilliantly played hole from the European pair with Nordqvist firing a laser of an iron shot into the green and Castren converting with the putter to put the visitors two up.

They look like a really good pairing these two.

  13. Europe lead in bottom matchpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Hull & Pedersen v Thompson & Altomare (1)

The fourth pairing and the fourth missed green in regulation for the Europeans at the first. Emily Pedersen is the latest to misjudge the approach and her ball rolls back off the front edge.

Can Brittany Altomare take advantage? From 150 yards, she too comes up a fraction short and her ball trundles back towards where the Europeans are.

Hull is first to chip up. Looks good. Looks really good. No... just shaves the right edge.

Lexi Thompson is out with the putter. But she's not given that enough, the ball pulling up 15 feet short... Altomare misses the par.

Pedersen to win the hole... from three feet. Europe lead.

  14. Postpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (3)

Missed chance for Boutier to pull a hole back as she dribbles a putt just inches wide of the mark. No real conviction in that stroke for a putt that Europe really needed in this one.

  15. Postpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire A/S N Korda & J Korda (1)

Nelly Korda left sister Jessica with a little work to do for par after missing the birdie putt on the first. But big sis is up to the task.

Mel Reid knocks in a shortish par putt for a half after Leona Maguire's solid chip up frrom the front edge.

  16. USA go two uppublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (2)

Boutier and Hall were unbeatable two years ago but they're already in a spot of bother here after losing the opening two holes.

There's a long way to go but that's no exactly yhe kind of start you want to make away from home.

  17. Final match awaypublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen v Thompson & Altomare

The last match of the morning foursomes is away down the first.

Charley Hull up first for Europe. The Englishwoman is yet to be beaten in the foursomes format. Her tee shot is leaked slightly right, in the first cut but sitting up nicely.

Lexi Thompson wants some noise as she hits an iron off the tee. Her ball hugs the left side of the fairway. The screams are quite something.

  18. Europe lead in top matchpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst (3)

A spot of bunker trouble on the par three third hole for the USA and a solid par is enough for Europe to take the lead in the lead-off match.

  19. Postpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda

Jessica Korda is first to play from the fairway. Decent. One bounce in the heart of the green and the ball comes to rest back right. Outside birdie chance from 30 feet.

Mel Reid from 124 yards is short. The Europeans have not got to grips with this second shot into the first.

The first two groups found a greenside bunker from the middle of the fairway and Reid, while straighter, watches as her ball trundles back off the front edge.

  20. Eagles all roundpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Nordqvist & Castren A/S Kang & Ernst (2)

Matilda Castren lands an absolute bomb for an eagle, but Austin Ernst replies in kind with a putt a lot shorter but still not exactly what you’d call ingimmeterritory!

Great nerve shown from the American though who drains it for an American eagle to ensure the hosts stay level in this match.
