  1. 'Not about wins and losses'published at 14:50 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

Bubba Watson is following the Kordas round today and he's just stopped off for a quick chat on Sky Sports.

He says he is with the Kordas because he "had a connection" with Nelly over mental health issues earlier in the year.

"I just want to show her a smile, give her a fist bump. It's not about wins and losses, it's about your mental health. If you win, great. If you lose, it's about doing it in the right way," said the two-time Masters champion.

    2UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (8)

Ireland's Leona Maguire is the picture of concentration on the eighth green. She's just watched Nelly Korda hit a putt from 25 feet that dropped away to the left and missed on the low side of the hole.

Perhaps swayed by that, she pushes her eight-footer to win the hole too far to the right.

That gives Jess Korda the opportunity to halve the hole, which she takes from five feet.

  3. Watson around as USA 'head cheerleader'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

As part of their final preparations players in the US team had been chewing the fat with double Masters champion Bubba Watson, who has also played in four Ryder Cups.

"Bubba called a couple weeks ago, just wanting to help women's golf out," said US captain Pat Hurst.

"He's been a lot of fun having him in the locker room hearing his take on a lot of the things, and a lot of times we have to tell him that, 'Hey, men and women are a little bit different' and I think he's definitely seeing that," said Hurst.

"But we're all enjoying him around, players, caddies. We're asking him a ton of questions and it looks like, it seems like he's having just as much fun as we are with him around."

  5. USA turn in frontpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst 1UP (9)

There's a pin shot from Castren who smacks the flagstick with her approach but Nordqvist can't take advantage as she duffs her putt from the fringe. It's always tricky using the putter from there and she just can't the longer grass on ther way through.

It means they can only tie that hole from a great position and the American pair hit the turn still in front.

    Hull & Pedersen v Thompson & Altomare 1UP

And the flashes of red start spreading over the scoreboard as Lexi Thompson and Brittany Altomare finally get a nudge ahead on the par-four seventh, and they break the deadlock to go up against Charley Hull and Emily Pederson.

  7. Postman delivers good luck messagepublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

Now if ever there was somebody you'd take advice from on a big golfing team competition....

  8. Kordas continue to strugglepublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (6)

Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson is out following the Korda sisters. It's fair to say they are looking a little disgruntled with their performance so far.

They went to see US captain Pat Hurst this week to request they played together in the foursomes. And clearly Hurst had to oblige given their two massive wins in this format at Gleneagles in 2019.

But Jess has just missed a six-foot par putt on the sixth to open the door for Mel Reid to put the Europeans 3UP from similar distance.

Can the Englishwoman walk straight through? No! She pushes her putt three feet past. And the Kordas want to see that putt. Leona Maguire says OK and confidently drains it.

  9. Europe win the Junior Solheim Cup!published at 14:29 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

Congratulations to the European junior side who claimed the trophy for the very first time on American soil - could this be a good omen for the seniors?

  10. Americans turn around top matchpublished at 14:26 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst 1UP (8)

Again going beyond the flag has provided plenty of problems as Nordqvist was left with a seriously tough putt up, along and over one of these shoulders in the green, and even the Women’s Open champion can’t get it close.

It leaves Castren with about six feet to save the hole but she just doesn’t give it enough legs up the hill and it tails off inches short as Europe slip one behind.

  11. Postpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (6)

Lexi Thompson is showing some real skill with her irons today as she comfortably finds the green on the par-four sixth.

Charley Hull has to dig her way out of the fluffy stuff though, but nooo... it rolls back down leaving her to try and get back up the plateau.

Emily Pedersen also has to chip up and displays a very deft touch as she creeps towards the pin.

There is still nothing to split the teams as they go through the sixth.

  12. Postpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 1UP (7)

A par putt is conceded by the Americans and Europe get back to just one down after seven holes – they were four down after eight in the last Solheim Cup but came back to win in their unbeaten streak so that deficit will not bother them one bit.

The European pairing of Leona Maguire and Mel Reid will be the first to admit they are not playing sensational golf but they have done enough to carve out a lead in their match against the previously unbeatable Korda sisters.

They win the par-four sixth with a bogey five.

  15. All square in top matchpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Nordqvist & Castren A/S Kang & Ernst (7)

    Classic matchplay moment alert!

Austin Ernst drains an absolute monster on the seventh green for par to pile the pressure on Matilda Castren who was nice and cosy in about four feet away thinking that she’d have that putt to win the hole, now it’s for a half, the hole shrinks and she jabs at it to slide it wide.

From nowhere America win that hole and get back to all square - that's matchplay for you right there.

  16. Postpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (5)

Lexi Thompson puts a masterful bit of spin in the ball on the par-three fifth, but Charley Hull's response is stunning as she does the head-tilt we all do to persuade a ball in flight to sit up close to the pin.

Hull's chance to win the hole though just trickles wide of the cup, and they remain all-square through the fifth

  17. 'It's like Phil Mickelson introducing himself to you'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

Austin Ernst and Lizette Salas and Bubba Watson and Danielle Kong and Jennifer Kupcho pose for a photo with their security guardsImage source, Getty Images

This is a nice one. And shows a lot of sport stars are just like the average person on the street.

Apparently when Bubba Watson was in the US team room his fellow American Jennifer Kupcho, who won the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019 at the home of the Masters, approached the table where he was sitting.

    The exchange was as follows...

BW: "Hey, you know I was there when you won, right?"

JK: "Yeah, I shook your hand. Like I wouldn't -- why would I not remember that? Like seriously? I talked to you and I shook your hand. You've got to remember that you're pretty famous."

Fellow US player Danielle Kang, who was around when Kupcho was talking about all this added: "It's like Phil Mickelson coming up to you and saying, hey, my name is Phil. You're like, I know."

  18. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (6)

Tremendous effort from range again from Boutier, who has displayed a lovely touch on the greens so far in this match, and it’s inches away from dropping but just pulls up short.

Khang’s effort from a similar range isn’t as good, but it’s good enough to be conceded by Europe and the hole is halved with USA remaining two up.

  19. Postpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (4)

Over on the fourth, Charley Hull miscues slightly with her approach and the ball skews off into a greenside trap.

Lexi Thompson, from prime position in the fourth fairway - "no more than 120 yards" says her caddie - fires a little long, her ball gripping on the back of the green. Two-putt territory.

Emily Pedersen plays a delicate bunker shot to three feet and Hull completes the up and down for a half.

  20. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (5)

Leona Maguire is a fraction short with her tee shot on the par-three fifth. The ball nestles in the fringe, 30 feet from the hole. Mel Reid, with the putter, lags up to gimme distance.

Nelly Korda has given Jessica a birdie chance from 15 feet but she can't convert. Hole halved.
