  1. Team USA go 1Up once morepublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen v Thompson & Altomare 1UP (12)

Brittany Altomare gets the slope on the right hand side, and it leads beautifully towards the hole.

Not quite as good for Emily Pederson who goes just a little long and will have a tricky downhill putt.

Charley Hull's birdie putt was a great effort but just rests alongside the lip.

Now what can Lexi Thompson do here? A birdie to win the hole and she clinches it confidently - and the hosts go 1Up once more.

  2. Europe ahead again in top matchpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst (14)

It’s only an outside chance of a birdie for Castren on the 14th, but she almost holes it from just off the green. It’s a gimme though and it leaves Kang with a knee knocker from five feet to half the hole – and she misses!

Europe go back ahead in what is a superb top match.

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (13)

Ally Ewing just threatens the edge with a long curler up and across the hill on 13 but it just misses the cup. Europe are running out of holes here now though.

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (11)

Brittany Altomare's approach shots on the last couple of holes have been exceptional.

Charley Hull leaves the flag in for a 10ft putt which she strikes confidently and once more Team Europe settle themselves down after losing the last hole and we are still tied as they move through the 11th.

  6. Europe 2UP with six to playpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (12)

Nelly Korda is first to play from the sand on the 12th and she's out to about four feet.

What can Leona Maguire do? Almost hole it is the answer! The ball hit the pin but failed to drop. Gimme par though.

Jess, nerveless, holes for a half.

  7. It's in the sand...published at 15:28 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (11)

Mel Reid is first up on the short 12th, scene of so many good tee shots in the past 20 minutes or so. This is not being added to them though. Tugged left and plugged in a bunker.

Door ajar for Jess Korda. But the American follows Reid into the sand. All about the lie.

  8. Back to all-square for the final foursomepublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (10)

Goodness - Brittany Altomare just lips out from the back of the green as the home side try and pull back the lead from Charley Hull and Emily Pederson as they come through the turn. She misses the eagle, but Team USA get the hosts back on level terms.

It is a costly double-bogey for Team Europe - and we are back to all square!

  9. Rookie Maguire keeping her nervepublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda (11)

After a booming drive by Nelly Korda down the par-four 11th, her sister Jess is left just 20 yards short of the green. She's out with the putter and plays a beauty, to about three feet.

Leona Maguire has the US ball marker in her sights as she stands over her six-footer for birdie that will effectively be for a half. A little fist pump from the Irishwoman tells she knows the importance of that.

Nelly knocks in for a half but Europe are still in control of this one.

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (12)

Incredible stuff at the 12th hole as Megan Khang almost makes a hole-in-one on the par three with her ball rolling agonisingly inches wide of the hole - almost burning the edge as it comes to rest within a foot.

Somehow, Celine Boutier manages to follow her in and her tee shot also looks like it might result in an ace before it comes to rest inside three feet. Georgia Hall taps it in for possibly the best half you'll see all competition.

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (11)

Ally Ewing hits a stunning drive that sets up an eagle attempt that just about keeps its head up and fails to drop for Megan Khang. Hall sinks the birdie putt for the Europeans but that’s only good enough for a half on this hole.

  12. Europe miss opportunitypublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Reid & Mguire v N Korda & J Korda (10)

Mel Reid has another opportunity to go three clear of the Kordas but the Englishwoman leaves her 12-footer above the green and is clearly not happy with herself.

But, I reckon they'd have taken this state of play at the start of the round.

  13. USA edge aheadpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Nordqvist & Castren v Kang & Ernst 1UP (12)

The Americans as a team have been excellent on the par threes today, and Austin Ernst fires in another dart of a tee shot on 12 to set up a birdie and the lead once more in this ding-dong battle in the top match.

  14. Europe turn things aroundpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    1UP Hull & Pedersen v Thompson & Altomare (9)

Charley Hull and Emily PedersenImage source, Getty

Emily Pedersen has a few demons to bury in this Solheim Cup, and the tricky ninth sees a swing in fortunes for Team Europe.

Charley Hull drifted long for her chance to win the hole, but more importantly Lexi Thompson and Brittany Altomare can only manage a double-bogey.

Deep breath and Emily Pederson gets the job done.

  15. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (8)

Oh dear, Brittany Altomare narrowly misses a couple of people sat on the bank enjoying the view, on the par-four ninth hole. Emily Pederson and Charley Hull approach the green all smiles. No wayward golf balls spoiling their pints!

  16. Europe leading Kordas after front ninepublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    2UP Reid & Maguire v N Korda & J Korda

The Kordas know they need to get something going and Jessica goes pin-seeking with her second to the par-four ninth.

The pin is front left and protected by a couple of cavernouse bunkers and Jess doesn't give her effort enough gas but her ball misses the traps and comes to rest in the rough.

Mel Reid is long and into the rough at the back of the green. Leona Maguire plays a sensational chip and run to three feet.

Nelly K plays a delicate chip to about the same distance. If you and I were playing, we might say "I'll give you yours if you'll give me mine" but we're not and these putts will be seen.

    Hole halved in fours.

    Hull & Pedersen A/S Thompson & Altomare (8)

Onto the par-five eighth and it is important for Charley Hull and Emily Pedersen not to let the previous lost hole get them down.

Lexi Thompson does not quite read the break right for a birdie to lengthen their lead.

Charley Hull makes no mistake on her putt though, and her birdie puts them back all-square.

  19. Europe all squarepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 4 September 2021

    Nordqvist & Castren A/S Kang & Ernst (10)

How about that from Matilda Castren! She missed a short one earlier to cost them a hole but makes a worldie from a mile out this time to grab a hole back and level this match. Ernst had a similar putt on a similar line but was obviously not watching Castren’s effort as she hits hers miles off line.

All square and all to play for in the top match!

    Boutier & Hall v Ewing & Khang 2UP (9)

Boutier needs to show her nerves of steel to roll in a par putt and mean it’s just the two holes the Europeans trail by in this second match. They need to start making some ground up quickly.
