    Ciganda & Madsen A/S J. Korda & Khang (13)

Megan Khang holes another ridiculous putt for birdie on 13 which ends up getting the USA a half when Ciganda can't convert her eagle try from the fringe.

The Spaniard is furious - not only because she missed her effort but also because she thought a birdie would win the hole comfortably before Khang's intervention.

  2. Reid pulls back a holepublished at 21:04 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas 1UP (12)

What was I saying about Mel Reid's putter (see 20:56)?

She must have plonked it on a radiator before trotting up to the green. In goes her birdie putt and Kupcho cannot respond.

One hole back for the Europeans.

  3. Red-hot Harigae restores the leadpublished at 20:57 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Boutier & Popov v Noh & Harigae 1UP (14)

Mina Harigae is flag hunting on 14 with a wonderfully struck iron shot that digs its toes into the green and spins back and right-to-left and just glides by the edge of the hole for what will surely be a tap-in birdie.

She has to putt it and she does indeed win the hole, although here effort from barely three feet is filled with nerves as the ball wipes its feet and does a 360 before dropping into the cup.

    USA lead again!

    Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas 2UP (11)

Jennifer Kupcho's putter is red hot while it would be fair to say Mel Reid's has just come out of a fridge.

But both look to have equidistant putts on the par-three 12th, either side of the pin.

    1UP Hull & Pedersen v Kang and Ernst (10)

Back in front of the club-house, Charley Hull is safe on the fairway avoiding the sand, unlike Emily Pedersen.

Danielle Kang just drifts into the first cut of the rough, but it not too bad a lie really and she pegs a nice approach onto the green.

Austin Ernst throws down the gauntlet on the green to birdie and Hull steps up and matches her - to tie the hole. It quietens down the crowd and Europe are still up.

  6. Kupcho & Salas extend leadpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas 2UP (11)

Wowsers. What a strike that is.

When did Jennifer Kupcho turn professional again? 2019? The former amateur world number one spirals a glorious iron shot into a few feet on the 11th for a much better look at birdie.

It is amazing how quickly and how often the momentum swings one way to another in match-play golf.

In a repeat of the previous hole Mel Reid with a par putt, that won't be good enough, is on Leona Maguire's line for a birdie.

Complete mishit from the Rookie. Miles short. Kupcho hoovers up another hole.

  7. Madsen makes it all squarepublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Ciganda & Madsen A/S J. Korda & Khang (12)

Nanna Madsen pops up with a birdie and all of a sudden Europe have drawn level in the top two matches.

Just the start of the visitors fighting their way back into the session now.

  8. Boutier birdie levels for Europepublished at 20:41 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Boutier & Popov A/S Noh & Harigae (13)

Boutier makes a birdie and this time even Mia Harigae has no answer and Europe have somehow managed to get this one back to all square.

It's been a huge effort against this in-form rookie pairing and now it's all to play for.

  9. Postpublished at 20:37 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    1UP Hull & Pedersen v Kang and Ernst (9)

Danielle Kang with al long range putt to birdie for the win. Good distance but just runs out of oomph.

With Austin Ernst bogeying, and the Europeans both par-putting, Europe go into the turn with the only lead on the board.

    Can they turn the screw?

  10. Kupcho putt sees US duo regain leadpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas 1UP (10)

Lots of tactics or not coming into play on the 10th green where Lizette Salas putts from downtown for par to give Jennifer Kupcho the chance to read the green.

Did she chip there on purpose or was it just a poor one? I suspect the latter.

As expected it drifts past, but Kupcho going next drains hers from an almost identical position.

Leona Maguire, who would have been putting for par is now stood next to Mel Reid offering some advice on a 20 footer to halve the hole.

It trickles past just slightly too high. Looked like it was in for a second.

Red very much the colour on the leaderboard again.

  11. Postpublished at 20:27 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire A/S Kupcho & Salas (9)

Lizette Salas in the sand on 10, which has a shared tee box with the first. She did not catch that at all and looks disgusted with herself.

Over on the opposite side of the fairway Leona Maguire is also in a sand trap. Really awkward stance on this, on a banking letting the club drop down to the ball below her feet.

You know the sort of shot, one of those horrible ones where you think you're going to fall over on the downswing.

She's out but runs left off the green and will have to chip on. Mel Reid sensing a bit of danger, snaps her iron shot to the centre of the green, on same level as the pin.

  13. Almost an ace as Popov pulls another backpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Boutier & Popov v Noh & Harigae 1UP (12)

What did I say about Popov before? Well, she’s just come within no more than a foot of making a hole-in-one at the 12th - she’d have been racing around downtown Toledo if that had gone in!

The putt is given and even Harigae can't rescue the situation and the European duo stride off having reduced the arrears down to just one.

  14. Postpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Reid & Maguire A/S Kupcho & Salas (9)

The Leona Maguire show has just restarted folks.

    What. A. Shot.

Playing from bang centre of the fairway Maguire stiffs a seven or eight iron in to around a foot from the pin. That was almost in and it stops pretty much dead. A gimme if ever I saw one.

Are Europe about to turn this match? Yep. Mel Reid also weighs in with a birdie.

  15. Postpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Ciganda & Madsen v J. Korda & Khang 1UP (10)

Ripper of an approach from Khang puts the Americans in the driving seat on 10, but Ciganda answers by sinking her long-range putt to get her birdie first.

Khang, as she does, celebrates wildly as he makes her short putt, but that’s a better half for the visitors given Khang had knocked it stiff and was a bigfavouritefor that hole before Ciganda had her say.

  16. Eagle - Pedersen puts Europe in lead on anchor match againpublished at 20:19 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    1UP Hull & Pedersen v Kang and Ernst (8)

Emily Pedersen's second shot on the par-five eighth hole and that is not too shabby at all. It hits the green and settles pretty nicely for her.

Danielle Kang certainly challenges her for position near the pin but Pedersen eagle-putts from a little under 10ft out to clinch a lead once more for Europe.

All hail that splash of blue.

Not one for those that suffer nerves on the tee.

    Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas 1UP (8)

Nothing doing for Mel Reid or Leona Maguire at the moment. It feels like they just need something to spark them off again but two pars don't quite cut the mustard.

Jennifer Kupcho and Lizette Salas also make fives. It's as you were heading towards the turn.

  19. Khang chips in to lead at the turnpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Ciganda & Madsen v J. Korda & Khang 1UP (9)

    Matchplay moment alert!

Ciganda and Madsen in pole position with two makeable putts while Korda misses her long range putt, and Kang has a tough chip that...hang on, it's in!

It's a decent effort from Kang but it's going at a rate of knots, slams into the flag stick, stays up, then somehow bounces back into the hole - sending the gallery wild.

The stunned Europeans then somehow miss both of their putts, from a similar spot, and both miss it on the high side - not sure how you miss them both in the same way but that's what they do and America lead.
