Hull & Pedersen A/S Kang and Ernst (4)

Austin Ernst has a tough putt up the hill to try for the birdie to win the hole. She does give it a good rap but it rolls past and it is comfortable pars all round as the anchor match stays tight.

    Ciganda & Madsen A/S J. Korda & Khang (6)

Solid half on the sixth thanks to Madsen's super third shot being stuck stone dead. Korda almost holes out from the bunker before Kang doesn't get the line right at all on her birdie try so it's as you were heading to the 7th.

    Reid & Maguire A/S Kupcho & Salas (5)

Big let off for Europe's Mel Reid and Leona Maguire.

Jennifer Kupcho pushes tentatively at her putt and sees it trickle by. Hole saved.

    Reid & Maguire A/S Kupcho & Salas (4)

Buoyed by her birdie on the fourth Lizette Salas zips her iron shot in to around 15 feet on the fifth.

The world number 14 is playing beautifully at present. Jennifer Kupcho flights a lovely shot into around six feet on the 172-yard par three.

Leona Maguire responds by almost making a hole in one - sadly her ball runs on. The rookie and Mel Reid will be putting first and probably needing to drop one of their two long efforts in.

    Reid & Maguire A/S Kupcho & Salas (4)

Listen to that roar. It means only one thing. The US have won another hole and it is courtesy of Lizette Salas who cards a birdie on the fourth after Leona Maguire and Mel Reid had to settle for pars.

    Boutier & Popov v Noh & Harigae 2UP (6)

The Europeans are getting a little desperate as they ask Noh to see out a putt that's barely a couple of foot for the half.

She's in great form so doesn't flinch and puts it away to stay two up.

  8. Postpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Hull & Pedersen A/S Kang and Ernst (3)

Emily Pedersen takes the first attempt at a birdie putt to win the hole which comes to a rest just short of the hole. Charley Hull having to rap this up the hilland commits to hit, but it rolls past.

Now the Americans are not guaranteed of their pars either as Ernst rescues the hole with her par-putt as the better ball and there is nothing to separate them at the third.

  9. First tee karaokepublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

My only thought on the first tee is trying to hit a half decent shot just in case anyone behind is watching.

Maybe I should try and relax with a bit of karaoke in future. Then again we get enough rain in the north west of England.

    Ciganda & Madsen A/S J. Korda & Khang (5)

Well, it looks like a regulation par three to halve the hole for Jessica Korda, but it was anything but given she fluffed he second shot from the fringe, which has proven to be tough to get out of all weekend.

Korda recovers well though to roll in the longer par putt than she would have liked to keep us level.

    Boutier & Popov v Noh & Harigae 2UP (5)

Some nice hands from Noh out of the bunker on what could have been a really tricky escape on the short side.

The hole is then halved and we continue with America in a two-up lead.

  12. Postpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    1UP Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas (3)

A lovely shot from the tee sets up another birdie for Leona Maguire on the first of the par three holes.

Unfortunately for Europe Lizette Salas matched her to halve the hole.

  13. Postpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Hull & Pedersen A/S Kang and Ernst (2)

Emily Pedersen finds the green in two, on the par-five second hole and Charley Hull almost 25ft out for an eagle has the distance but it does not break - but should be good for the birdie.

In fact it is birdies all around as they stay tied going through the second.

  14. Postpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Ciganda & Madsen A/S J. Korda & Khang (4)

Neither Khang or Korda can nail six-footers to rescue a half on the fourth hole and Europe get a foothold in the second match finally by getting back on level terms.

Trying to keep an eye on the action when you are in a non-playing team role is tricky at the best of times.

  17. Reid misses chance to put Europe two uppublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    1UP Reid & Maguire v Kupcho & Salas (2)

    Go on. Go on. Ohh.

Leona Maguire almost drains a long-range birdie attempt on the second.

That looked in but her ball just straightened up and slid an inch or so past at the last moment. No joy for Jennifer Kupcho or Lizette Salas either.

Europe still have one in the bank, with Mel Reid's ball marked about six feet from the cup...

She's pushed it past on the right. She shakes her head at that and is wearing a huge look of frustration. Missed opportunity.

  18. Postpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Boutier & Popov v Noh & Harigae 2UP (4)

Noh tidies up and the two rookies remain two up in what has been a highly impressive start for them in this lead-off match of the fourballs.

  19. Postpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

Hull & Pedersen A/S Kang and Ernst (1)

A long birdie putt for Charley Hull and it probably rolls a little more than she would have liked. Emily Pedersen also gives her long-range birdie putt a go, and settles short, but guarantees the par for Europe to kick things off.

Austin Ernst settles in for her par shot, but that was a little too much of a rap as she shoots on by the cup. Can Danielle Kang settle the US nerves on the first hole as she lines up a birdie putt from the back of the green.

She is quite the feisty one, not averse to a fist-pump or several, and... she finishes up short, and par-putts for the tie.

  20. USA two ahead in the top matchpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 5 September 2021

    Boutier & Popov v Noh & Harigae 2UP (3)

Harigae gets in on the act as the USA claim the third hole and move two ahead in the early stages. It's getting very close to officially being an American charge right now with these top two matches going this way.
