    DeChambeau/Scheffler vs Rahm/Hatton (18:26 BST)

Bryson DeChambeau and the rookie Scottie Scheffler - a big-hitting pairing - march onto the first tee to vociferous cheers.

DeChambeau has an earphone in. Is he listening to some tunes to pump himself up for a crack at the opening green?

We'll find out in a few minutes...

Great to see Bernd Wiesberger hit such a positive tee shot.

They took their time this morning - there seems like more flow from the players.

Johnson & Schauffele vs Casey & Wiesberger

Loud boos as Paul Casey steps up to the tee. Sounds like things are a touch more raucous at Whistling Straits from this morning.

The Englishman booms his drive straight down the middle and Bernd Wiesberger follows suit.

Xander Schauffele and Dustin Johnson are both up next for the hosts. The Olympic champion is nice and accurate, while DJ pushes his shot right into the first cut. Still not a bad line into the green from there.

Well actually four from the advertised tee-off time.

    USA 3 Europe 1

For the first time in the modern Ryder Cup there are no pairings sticking together to play both sessions on day one, with both captains shuffling their packs for the fourballs.

After their display this morning, should Padraig Harrington have kept the Spanish duo together?

Seve was a much better dad than a golfer - Javier Ballesteros

Earlier this year, BBC Sport spoke to Seve Ballesteros' son Javier on the 10-year anniversary of his father's death. Here Javier talks about his father's love for the Ryder Cup...

"Bringing the Ryder Cup to Spain in 1997 was very special for him and I have seen many clips of when he was captain at Valderrama - I think it was Colin Montgomerie and Lee Westwood who said he just wanted to be everywhere and play the shot for everyone. He was like crazy, going to every place.

"I believe he was very happy to be captain but he probably felt he could, maybe not still play, but he really wanted to play and help and be everywhere. In the end they won, so he was very happy about that.

"Before him, continental Europe couldn't play in the Ryder Cup and he was the one that probably changed that. He really wanted to beat the Americans all the time and he was very proud of what he did in the Ryder Cup.

"In 2012 at Medinah, the year after he died, I remember I was at my mum's home watching it and we really got emotional. It was a miracle what Europe did and it was special when Jose Maria Olazabal looked up to the sky after Martin Kaymer holed that winning putt, and when Justin Rose pointed to my dad's logo on his sleeve.

"I was thankful to Olazabal and we were happy the logo of my dad was on the whole European team. We also have one of the bags from that year at home and it is a special gift."

Bryson DeChambeau says being heckled by fans has not "been comfortable" but hopes his performances will get the home crowd behind him this weekend.

DeChambeau has been taunted about his scientific approach and the rivalry with US team-mate Brooks Koepka, while he has also become a target for some fans after bulking up to be able to hit the ball longer distances.

"No matter what, we're all humans at the end of the day," said the 2020 US Open champion. "I've got a brass chest. I've taken a lot of heat. But I'm OK with it."

The ongoing rivalry with Koepka - which recently saw DeChambeau swear at a fan who yelled "Brooksie" at him - has also contributed to him attracting attention from the galleries.

"There are times where it's not comfortable, but there's also times where it fuels me," said DeChambeau. "I think this week is going to be an amazing example of it.

"It's going to be fun to be able to have the crowd behind us, pump them up and show them what I can hopefully do and what we can do as a team, more importantly.

"It's about riling us all up and getting that Ryder Cup back here on US home soil."

Thomas & Cantlay vs Fleetwood & Hovland (18:58 BST)

Tommy Fleetwood is hoping to use his experience from the final round of the 2019 Open Championship to Europe's benefit this weekend.

The English golfer was far from the home favourite alongside eventual winner Shane Lowry at Portrush.

"That's probably the closest it's been (to an away Ryder Cup), but at the same time, they didn't really say anything bad to me, they clearly wanted one person to win and it wasn't me," Fleetwood said.

"Whistling Straits will be different won't it? I've only played one Ryder Cup and we had the whole crowd on our side. I'm very used to having fans on my side as well.

"But I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be another challenge, another experience.

"Guys like Paul Casey, Lee (Westwood), Poults (Ian Poulter) all come up with the same thing - that you have to embrace it, you have to kind of enjoy it in a way because that's the only way you're going to thrive in that atmosphere.

"No hard feelings for whatever anybody comes out with. You could go to a football game every week and get a lot worse probably. You just have to take it in its context."

Well, that's quite a statement of intent from Team USA, but has that deflated you Team Europe fans out there?

There's lot of golf to go so can Padraig Harrington's side scrap their way back into this?

Or will Steve Stricker get his hands on the Ryder Cup on Sunday?

Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for now...

Rory McIlroy gets back on the horse this afternoon then. And it will be a united Irish team with Shane Lowry, who he enjoyed a good laugh with yesterday.

Following the pair around in practice, it was noticeable they had a great camaraderie and it helped as *I think* they beat Tyrrell Hatton and Jon Rahm in a little sidehustle.

On Team USA, Stricker's plan has been long thought-out and is being executed as he has intended.

And that involves splitting up JT & Jordan. DJ and Morikawa are prised apart too.

Surprising Spieth and Morikawa are left out? You bet. Like Harrington, Stricker also fully utilises his 12-man squad.

  11. Everyone involved on opening daypublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

So just looking at those pairings it looks like everyone on both teams is going to see some Ryder Cup action today.

And there is no continuity from the foursomes with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Xander Schuaffele, Paul Casey, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy combining with new partners.

Slightly surprised to see Collin Morikawa and Jordan Spieth sitting out for the US.

That Spieth shot was something else wasn't it.

  12. Watch: Spieth's shot of the daypublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 24 September 2021

It's a horrible shot up against a big green wall of fescue, but if anyone can pull it off it's the American Seve in Jordan Spieth.

We're not sure what's better, the actual shot or Spieth almost tumbling down the mountain and into Lake Michigan.

Is this your shot of the day so far?

    USA 3 Europe 1

No panic then? With Europe slow starters over the last few tournaments - it often gets overlooked with the boys in blue winning plenty of Ryder Cups lately, but the USA are actually pretty fast starters.

This second session now becomes huge and a must-win session you'd think for Harrington's men.

They've brought home a point comfortably in the end and look well suited together.

    2&1 Koepka & Berger v Westwood & Fitzpatrick (F)

Well, Westwood and Fitzpatrick battled away but just couldn't recover from the early lead the Americans took.

Brooks Koepka doesn't seem like the easiest guy to find a partner for, but his former college team-mate Daniel Berger could be the perfect foil.

They're both competitive characters and could be a combo Steve Stricker uses more than once.

Andrew: No arguments with that opening session score, the US are good value for their 3-1 lead. They've played the best golf by a country mile & have made the all-important birdies, which is the name of the game in Foursomes. Can they maintain this level / can Europe rally?

Robin: Why does the European shirt look like a primary school uniform?
