  1. DeChambeau goes 2UPpublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    2UP DeChambeau v Garcia (6)

Urgh. That's undercooked from Sergio Garcia, coming off his wedge blue and only just about clinging on to the bank. He finds the green in four but Bryson DeChambeau, after that booming three wood, is right on the edge of the smooth stuff in two. He puts the birdie putt wide but Garcia pokes his thumb up to concede the hole.

Europe are not conceding putts and I don't suppose you would expect them to under the circumstances.

It is a way of wearing your opponent down over the day.

    3UP Scheffler v Rahm (7)

Jon Rahm forces Scottie Scheffler to putt out from close-ish range on seven, a tricky little putt all the same and the Spaniard needs a way back in... but the American holds his nerve, and lets out a wry smile after halving the hole.

    Schauffele v McIlroy 1UP (8)

Will that go down as a missed opportunity?

It's another one of those putts at the 15-feet mark that Rory McIlroy simply doesn't seem able to make many of these days.

The Irishman takes two and halves the hole with Xander Schauffele, who he is outperforming, from tee to green.

  5. Westy edges aheadpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    English v Westwood 1UP (1)

Lee Westwood is up and running! He flips his approach to eight feet and trundles it down to move one up on Harris English in match 10.

  6. State of playpublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

This is obviously a massively moving feast.

But right now, there are 10 matches to have completed the first hole. Of those, the US are up in four, Europe are leading four, with two matches all square.

Worryingly for Europe, two of the matches the US are leading, are by wide margins, with Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler 3UP on Shane Lowry and Jon Rahm respectively.

Every other match has no more than one hole in it.

Bryson Dechambeau on the sixth - he was just switching his club to a three wood to the boos of the crowd - he turns to the crowd and says 'don't worry guys, I'm still going for the green!'

    Fantastic.

    1UP DeChambeau v Garcia (5)

Sergio Garcia attacks the green off the tee at six. A bit of breeze is blowing in that direction, but the Spaniard cannot quite carry it.

Bryson DeChambeau swaps his driver for a three wood and the crowd lets out a collective sigh. "Guys, calm down, I am still going for the green!" He comes up just left of it.

    3UP Cantlay v Lowry (7)

Shane Lowry, probably stunned by Patrick Cantlay's superb response to going a hole down early doors, has not really got going yet.

A sign of that is his second at the par-three third which comes up 10 feet short from 40 feet.

Thankfully for Europe, the Irishman, aware that Cantlay's second had rolled down to two feet, is able to drain his par and hole-saving putt.

The grandstand has cleared out somewhat as we get down to the final few pairings.

The American Vikings - more on them later - and the European Guardians are still here, though.

Those rival factions are orchestrating the atmosphere.

Still plenty of noise and good vibes despite hundreds fans having left to wander around the course.

  11. Garcia pulls one backpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    1UP DeChambeau v Garcia (5)

Bryson DeChambeau, having found the water earlier, reaches for his putter from the fringes and will need to sink this to halve the hole. It strides on by, and Sergio Garcia pulls one back!

"English - and you know you are! English - and you know you are!"

Top bantz from the Europeans as they playfully chant at Harris English. His nationality has certainly not been in question this week.

Two points on the board from the American in his two matches, both alongside Tony Finau in the fourballs.

    3UP Scheffler v Rahm (6)

Jon Rahm tickles a drive some 345 yards to come up just left of the sixth green, Scottie Scheffler leaves his a touch short and finds a spot of rough, but he's avoided the bunker.

He prods on to the smooth stuff and then wriggles in a lovely birdie putt, but it comes after his American opponent made one of his own. It's as you were.

  14. Schauffele cuts McIlroy's leadpublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Schauffele v McIlroy 1UP (7)

Rory McIlroy's lead is cut. His pitch on races past on the super-fast green and means he can only manage bogey.

Xander Schauffele takes the hole with a par, holing out from short range at the Irish golfer's request.

McIlroy could be three or four holes up. Now he has a solitary and precarious one-hole advantage.

  15. Postpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Koepka A/S Wiesberger (3)

Bernd Wiesberger started well taking the first hole but was pegged back at the second.

Brooks Koepka had a par putt and Wiesberger confidently putts to tie the hole.

    Rookie stayng in touch.

  16. Morikawa pulls one backpublished at 18:46 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Morikawa v Hovland 1UP (4)

After a sparkling start Hovland makes his first mistake of the day on four, and that's all it takes for Morikawa to get back into the game to reduce the gap to just a hole.

Hovland, and the rest of the European team for that matter, need to play almost flawless golf to get anything out of this group of American hot shots.

  17. Thomas goes 1UPpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    1UP Thomas v Hatton (1)

Justin Thomas walks in a birdie putt on the first and he takes the Americans one up in this one!

  18. Cantlay cruisingpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    3UP Cantlay v Lowry (6)

Can Shane Lowry stem the Cantlay cyclone coming at him at the moment?

The American is scorchio at the moment and knocks in his birdie putt from 10 feet after the Irishman was presented with a tricky pitch on over plateaued green.

That's his third birdie in four holes and enough to win his fourth hole on the spin.

  19. Postpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Johnson A/S Casey (3)

Nothing between these two as they both birdie the par three third - but Casey will feel a bit robbed as he tucked his shot in nice and tight at about eight feet but to see Johnson roll in a 20-footer to then force him to make it just for the half.

He does though and we move on all square.

  20. 'Bryson got that completely wrong'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Andrew Magee
PGA Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 live

Bryson DeChambeau got that completey wrong. Straight out of the rough and into the water.

Terrible shot from Bryson but a wonderful shot from Sergio Garcia.
