  1. Bryson finds the waterpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    2UP DeChambeau v Garcia (4)

Sergio Garcia has to play the ball from beneath his feet, a yard down a bank too - he does superbly to thrash it out on to the fairway. Bryson DeChambeau then comes at his above hie feet, in some longer grass. "Oh..." he says, and it runs on into the drink.

    English v Westwood (18:43 BST)

Lee Westwood is always so dependable from tee to green but can he get his putter fired up?

The Englishman is seeking his first points of any description since the Saturday foursomes at Gleneagles 2014.

    2UP DeChambeau v Garcia (4)

We've seen the whole array of Bryson DeChambeau drives today - one corker that found the green and will live long in the memory, a couple that have threatened to scatter the onlooking locals.

His effort at fifth falls into the second category, mind you Sergio Garcia also leaks his a touch.

  5. Poulter birdies the first to go aheadpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Finau v Poulter 1UP (1)

Wonder if Ian Poulter read that interview (see 18:35)?

The Englishman has come out firing and sinks a 14 footer to birdie the first and take the hole.

He has a nice habit of delivering on a Sunday, doesn't he?

    Thomas v Hatton (18:32 BST)

Hope JT doesn't have a hangover today, looked like a fresher having their first ever beer on the tee on Saturday... no dark shades or energy drinks in sight so we'll wager he's OK.

This match is up and running!

  7. Finau wants to 'run up' the score on Europepublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Finau v Poulter (1)

Tony Finau has warned Europe's players that they will be shown no mercy as the United States target a resounding Ryder Cup victory at Whistling Straits.

With the odds and score stacked well in the hosts favour Finau, 32, says he and his team-mates have no intention of just settling for a win and want to make things as humiliating as possible to avenge record nine-point defeats in 2004 and 2006.

"The way I look at it, we've got one heck of a healthy lead, Finau said.

"They have a really tall task in front of them, a score that's never been overcome.

"They have run the score up on us before. And if we have the opportunity, we are going to run it up on them. We have guys that are hungry to win a point."

Little under 24 hours ago, Justin Thomas was stood chugging beer on the first tee. Now he's back in a more professional manner.

Sure he will be back on the lash until the early hours if the United States seal this victory.

    Thoughts on his antics yesterday?

Thumbs up for a good bit of fun which shows golf in a different light from the 'stuffiness' with which think is endemic.

Thumbs down for a lack of respect which has no place in a game built on etiquette.

    Schauffele v McIlroy 2UP (6)

"Oh it's right" shouts Rory McIlroy, clearly upset by his tee shot on the seventh.

In fact it's left and drifts into a crevice in the longer grass.

"Go Xander" shouts a fan in the gallery and the Schuaffele responds by plonking his ball into the heart of the green.

Poulter thumps his heart when the Europeans serenade him.

Finau cups his ear and flexes his palms as 'To-ny, To-ny' is chanted.

These two showmen know how to work a crowd.

  11. Rahm pulls one backpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    3UP Scheffler v Rahm (5)

Like a yo-yo that from the world number one, an approach flicked out beyond the flag that is then wheeled back in to give the Spaniard a birdie chance from four feet. After Scottie Scheffler found the water, he needs to pretty much drain this with his approach.

It's a lovely strike that settles 10 feet from the cup, but Rahm should snatch a hole back here.

The American lips out! He concedes the hole and Rahm reduces the gap to three.

What a putt from Viktor Hovland - from 20 feet, he rams it in to maintain his lead and he is off to a flyer.

    Schauffele v McIlroy 2UP (6)

Listen to those cheers. You'd have thought Xander Schuaffele had won the point that had secured the Ryder Cup for the United States.

Instead, it's his turn to take a penalty and scramble to halve the hole. That'll feel like a point won for the American who played a sublime shot from a concrete path to seven feet before making par.

Rory McIlroy had an eight-foot putt to win that hole and go three up.

  14. 'Get out of jail card for Rahm'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

Jon Rahm gets a bit of a get out of jail card after Scottie Scheffler lands in the water.

    Morikawa v Hovland 2UP (3)

You know, this is a match we could see time and again over the next decade or so and it's started off brilliantly with both men pouring in birdie putts at the par three third to keep Hovland in a 2UP lead.

Morikawa really needed that one from 20 feet with Hovland in closer, but then the pressure is all on the Norwegian after the crowd go nuts celebrating their man sinking his putt.

Hovland is a serious talent though and he makes no mistake from 13 feet to keep his lead. That's three straight birdies for Hovland to start the day if anyone's asking.

  16. Scheffler in the waterpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    4UP Scheffler v Rahm (4)

Scottie Scheffler getting carried away? He tries to take on the water at five and fails, and that threatens to be a momentum buster. Jon Rahm certainly hopes so...

  17. Viktor two aheadpublished at 18:25 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Morikawa v Hovland 2UP (2)

A birdie-birdie start for Hovland against the Open champion - with Morikawa 3-0 for the tournament so far and playing beautifully.

Quite fabulous from Patrick Cantlay who putts to within two inches.

What a wonderful example of a chip.

  19. Cantlay wins third consecutive holepublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    2UP Cantlay v Lowry (5)

Shane Lowry bounced into this match with the look of a man who could help European hope to bubble again.

But after starting impressively he is now struggling to hold on to Patrick Cantlay's coattails.

A trip into the drink on five doesn't help, nor does a wonder pitch on from the American to about two or three inches. Cantlay has now won three holes on the spin.

  20. 'We need a couple of miracles' - Poulterpublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 26 September 2021

    Finau v Poulter (18:21 BST)

Ian Poulter says a "beyond monumental effort" will be needed for Europe to retain the Ryder Cup.

Poulter, 45, was the European talisman in the 'Miracle of Medinah' in 2012 when Jose-Maria Olazabal's team came from 10-6 down to win 14½ to 13½, completing one of the most remarkable comebacks in golf.

However, the US lead of six points this time around is the biggest entering the singles since 1979 and no team has overhauled such a deficit.

"We're not in a good position and it's going to take a beyond monumental effort. So we need a couple of miracles," said Poulter.
