    Conners -10 (16)

Corey Conners has a look at an eagle on the par-five 16th after a glorious second that trundled to the back edge of the green.

He's quickly up and out of his putt, shuffling to his right to watch the line of his ball as it rolls five feet past.

I don't think Conners watched his ball closely enough. He borrows slightly too much with his birdie putt. A three-putt par at the worst time.

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -10 (7)

"The wind is pushing it to the left, Tim!" Bryson DeChambeau isn't impressed after his five iron into the eighth green catches a breeze and settles in a bunker.

Lee Westwood also goes left and finds some sand. Work to do.

  3. Bogey for JTpublished at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Thomas -9 (8)

    Oh, Justin!

The world number three has left so many putts up there today and he's made to pay at the eighth as a par putt wriggles wide. First bogey of the day for Thomas and he drops to nine under.

  4. Birdie for Brysonpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -10 (7)

Westwood takes the putter to it, wheeling through the fringes and almost hitting the target - never quite had the line. Par it is.

DeChambeau is back into double figures! The American has managed to shake off that disastrous fourth hole to climb to 10 under par and two off the lead.

    Garcia -10 (9)

We join Sergio Garcia deep in the pampas grass down the left of the 10th after a wild drive.

He appears to have no drop option so is trying to hack his way out. His ball does pop out but only a couple of yards into one of the many sinuous bunkers that frame the fairways at TPC Sawgrass.

Garcia has 160 yards to the pin but he doesn't get all of that and is short of the green, 30 yards from the pin in three. Work to be done.

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -9 (6)

Decent approach from Lee Westwood, but it drops a couple of inches too far to the left doesn't get the break he was after - instead of a birdie putt he's looking at a deft up and down. Bryson DeChambeau puts himself within 12 feet for a birdie chance.

  8. Postpublished at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -9 (6)

That's better from Lee Westwood, nailing his tee shot down the fairway and scooping the tee out of the ground before it's even hit the turf up ahead.

  9. Won't drop for Thomaspublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Thomas -10, (7)

Another birdie goes begging from Justin Thomas, and he wheels his putter over his shoulder in disbelief - surely they've got to drop sooner or later!

  10. Postpublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Conners -10 (15)

Corey Conners goes close again at the 15th, but his lengthy birdie putt only has the briefest of looks at the hole as it slides by on the right.

A tough stretch coming up to try and find at least one more birdie...

  11. Postpublished at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -9 (6)

Nice from Lee Westwood. After finding the bunker, he leaves his second short of the green and nestled in a touch of rough - he needs an up and down to make par, and clips his third out well, running it up the smooth stuff to within a few feet.

He rolls in for par and holds on to that two-stroke lead.

  12. Putting for dough...published at 19:09 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Garcia -10 (9)

    If Sergio Garcia could putt...

...another chance goes begging at the par-five ninth.

He would surely have won several more majors if he could roll in the five footers on a more regular basis.

Only a par for the Spaniard.

  13. Ghim finds water twice in a rowpublished at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Thomas -10, Ghim -9 (6)

An awful few minutes for Doug Ghim - his round has just fallen apart. After a bogey at six, he finds the water at seven off the tee, and then splashes another into the drink. How the former world leading amateur would love to rewind 10 minutes.

  14. Birdie for Caseypublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Casey -10, Rahm -9 (7)

Paul Casey is back to under par for his round and that takes him to double digits under. A superb approach to the seventh green and an arrow-straight putt from 15 feet sees him move into a four-way tie for second.

It's another par for Jon Rahm

  15. Postpublished at 19:04 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -9 (5)

Urgh. Lee Westwood's day started in perfect fashion, but he's having to seriously grind now - the Englishman finds a bunker to the left of the sixth fairway.

  16. Bogey for Ghimpublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Thomas -10, Ghim -9 (6)

Doug Ghim drops at the sixth, a bogey for the 24-year-old and he's back to nine under. It feels like Justin Thomas has had a look at birdie on every hole so far... they've all failed to drop.

  17. Postpublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Conners -10 (14)

Corey Conners has a chance to get to 11 under and put more pressure on Lee Westwood.

Perhaps he's starting to feel the pressure of being in contention though because that is one tentative putt on the 14th green. Holes running out for the Canadian to set a challenging target.

  18. Postpublished at 19:00 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    Westwood -12, DeChambeau -9 (5)

Lee Westwood zips his long-rang birdie putt a couple of feet past the hole, Bryson DeChambeau comes at his birdie effort from the fringes but gets the same result.

Can Westwood pop this in to maintain his lead? Absolutely. A welcome par.

  19. Congested leaderboard at Sawgrasspublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2021

    This is one stacked leaderboard.

World number two Jon Rahm is just three back. World number three Justin Thomas is two back.

Reigning Open champion Shane Lowry is charging. Sergio Garcia, winner here in 2008, is charging.

And while Lee Westwood has faltered a little in the early holes, he still leads by two...
