  1. 'You need some luck sometimes' - Hallpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Hall -11 (F)

Clubhouse leader Georgia Hall spoke to Sky Sports as she waits for the final few holes to be completed:

"[The plan was] just to do the same as I've done every day really and hopefully hole some putts. Pretty much didn’t hole one thing yesterday which was quite frustrating.

"Two eagles definitely helped my round today. The eagle (on the sixth) was very important to get my momentum on the front nine."

What was her thinking on the turn:

"I know there was some scoreable holes. I just tried to stay positive and hopefully hit some good shots.

"For the second eagle, there was a ridge going down so I hit a 54 (degree wedge) and it was a good chip. You need some luck sometimes."

What was the closing gameplan, having been here before:

"It was a very different position to the way it was before, for sure. In my head I thought five- or six-under was needed and I knew I was now in front of the leader so if I posted a good score - if you're leading with three holes to play it’s not easy and it’s all in their hands.

"I’ve done everything I could today, so I’m proud of that. Just now try and sit and relax and see what happens."

  2. 'Hall might be going to the range...'published at 18:12 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra Live

With Koerstz Madsen and Nordqvist missing the green on 16, and Sagstorm into the bunker on 18, Georgia Hall is going nowhere, is she? Actually, she might be going straight to the range...

  3. Sagstrom's sand troublepublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sagstrom -12 (17)

Sagstrom is a touch unlucky to find the sand on the 18th after a decent drive and she can only chip out and nudge it down the fairway and try and save par somehow from there.

It'll take something special to keep her at 12 under now. I hope Georgia Hall hasn't left yet....

  4. Sagstrom joins the leaderspublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sagstrom -12 (17)

Hold the phone! Madelene Sagstrom, who has been hanging in and around the leaders for a while now actually joins the party thanks to a brilliant birdie on the tough 17th.

Sagstrom fired in a sparkling approach shot into 17 which has a pretty tricky pin to get at today, leaving her a six-foot tickle down the hill to join the leaders on 12 under.

A three-way tie for the lead - it's getting tense!

  5. Madsen slips uppublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Madsen -12, Nordqvist -12 (15)

Madsen can't get out of jail despite a fine long-range effort that was dead on line but just didn't have the legs to make it all the way.

It's just a second bogey today and third of the weekend for the Dane who slips back to 12 under.

The good news for her is that Nordqvist can't roll in her mammoth effort and has to settle for par, which is now good enough to tie the lead.

  6. Madsen in troublepublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Madsen -13, Nordqvist -12 (14)

Nanna Madsen is in the sand again off the tee but this time she's struggling as this is a par four and after digging it out she then plays a third which finds the green but with some distance to make for her par.

Nordqvist is safely on the dancefloor in two - putting contest coming up...

  7. Watch Hall chip in for an eaglepublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

Georgia Hall's challenge appeared to have faded following bogeys at eight and nine.

But she got back on track with a birdie on 11 and this happened at 12...

  8. Madsen answers in birdie battlepublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Madsen -13, Nordqvist -12 (14)

A tap-in birdie for Nordqvist who really got serious on that hole - starting with piping a brute of a drive right down the middle of the fairway. Her eagle putt after a nice second never really threatened the hole but came up just inches short.

Madsen is then forced to respond and duly does so by sending her own birdie putt home after she had found the fairway bunker off the tee.

Again, we talk about it a lot, but this is all about holding your nerve now as we head down the final few holes of a major and this is a thrilling ding-dong battle going on here.

  9. Postpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sagstrom -11 (15)

Crucial par putt from Sagstrom stroked home with all kinds of authority. That's a tremendous save after she came up short with her second shot and needed to get up-and-down.

We won't know how crucial that'll be just yet but it was filled with bottle!

  10. A cheeky birdie!published at 17:40 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

Sweden's Madelene Sagstrom has seen a few birdies today - including this little tinker.

The cheeky gull swooped onto Sagstrom's ball on the first fairway and had a nibble before dribbling it along the short stuff.

I don't think Georgia Hall will win outright with that score, but she could get into a play-off.

  13. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Madsen -12, Nordqvist -11 (13)

Two pars for these two but Nordqvist had a decent chance to get back to the top of the leaderboard but things are just going against her at the moment and she can't convert the putt.

  14. Hall is the new clubhouse leaderpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Hall -11 (F)

And so Georgia Hall tees off on the 18th and it clears the Barry Burn and everyone wills the ball to stop running on and in to the bunker. Thankfully, it obliges.

A beautifully struck second shot sees her avoid the another bunker, and she allows herself a little smile. And why not. This has been a great round after a trying day yesterday.

It was a difficult putt to hole for a birdie, but a decent attempt from about 20 feet off. There was no turn, and it sits around a foot short.

She taps safely in ... and once more we wait, friends.

  15. Sagstrom still fightingpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sagstrom -11 (14)

Madelene Sagstrom bags another birdie on the par five 14th and she's now on to 11 under and just one behind the leader!

It's getting so tight now as we head down the stretch.

  16. All change at the top!published at 17:26 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Madsen -12, Nordqvist -11 (12)

It's a two-shot swing on the 12th after that error from Nordqvist results in her making a bogey, while playing partner Madsen plays the hole in textbook fashion, knocking it on in two and two putting for a birdie.

That's a two-shot swing and means Madsen is now the outright Women's Open leader on 12 under.

  17. Hall onto the last hole, just one behind leaderpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Hall -11 (17)

Georgia Hall lays up her first shot just before the burn, and is in deep conversation with her boyfriend and caddie Harry Tyrrell.

Bunkers loom threateningly and she avoids them, with the second, hits the green but the ball runs on ... and on ... to the fluffier stuff at the back of the green.

She is taking a good walk around and takes a putter. She gives it a decent rap and it breaks a little, but not enough for any miracles here.

It is a safe par and on we go to the last, as she remains one behind the leader.

  18. Nordqvist in troublepublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Nordqvist -12 (11)

Uh oh - Anna Nordqvist may not have shaken off that horseshoe on the last green after all as she blocks her tee shot out right on the 12th and fires it into a ditch.

A penalty drop is taken and she wisely opts to lay-up and not smash it for the green in anger, with this being a par five, and she finds the fairway with now an up-and-down needed just for par.

  19. Nordqvist's second 360!published at 17:09 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Nordqvist -12, Madsen -11 (11)

Anna Nordqvist has suffered her second horseshoe of the day as her birdie putt looked for all the world to be going in only to do another full 360 and emerge back around the front of the hole.

She's only two away from the full horse now...

The Swede does well to keep a lid on her emotion there - especially as Madsen makes her birdie to move within one. She's quietly stayed in contention and now is chasing down her playing partner.

  20. Postpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sophie Powell
Ladies European Tour player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Georgia Hall probably needs to post 12 under, but she needs to stay composed in the final two holes. Nordqvist has been so steady and looks the one to beat.

She might be thinking she needs a birdie-birdie finish but that is dangerous on the 17th. She needs to stick to the plan.

If she gets a birdie chance she will take it, she won't do anything stupid and flirt with the water.
