  1. Henderson pulls awaypublished at 15:28 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Henderson -8 Korda -6 (6)

It just has not really been Nelly Korda's week or weekend has it?

You have to wonder whether, after such a stellar year with the Women's LPGA Championship and a shiny Olympic gold medal to boot, the final major of the year has proved to be a step too far.

A frustrating dropped shot at the fifth ... and even though both birdie the sixth, Korda remains off the pace - and could Brooke Henderson make a charge?

  2. 'Carnoustie rough has been playable'published at 15:27 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sophie Powell
Ladies European Tour player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

I think it has been a good set-up in terms of the course and the length of the rough. They haven't played it too long. Sometimes that happens in the women's game, but scoring has been able to happen.

Louise Duncan got into the rough on the fourth and she's a wispy thing but got it out and onto the front of the green with a lot of ease.

    It is playable.

  3. Postpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Duncan -8 (5)

It's 'just' a par for Duncan, but there have only been four birdies on the fifth hole today so it's not a bad score and still plenty of mileage left in this tournament yet.

  4. Postpublished at 15:22 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Duncan -8 (4)

Just the one birdie for Louise Duncan today but she's looking dialled in as she fires a dart into the fifth green and sets up a birdie putt that could see he join the leaders....

  6. Birdie - Hall now joins the leaders!published at 15:16 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Hall -9 (7)

Well it is where the cool kids all want to be!

Georgia Hall has brushed away all that pensiveness of yesterday's round - and she follows up that eagle on the sixth with a birdie.

Welcome to the top of the leaderboard as we now have a SIX-way tie at the top!

    Anymore for anymore?

  7. The state of play - latest leaderboardpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Women's Open final day

Elbow room only at the top of the pile. It is now a FIVE-WAY share of the lead...

    -8 G Hall (6), L Duncan (2)

    Selected others:

    -5 N Korda (6)

    -3 L Maguire (9)

  8. Postpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Nordqvist -9, Madsen -9 (2)

A par-par start for our Scandinavian pair, who just need to keep their cool a bit with now three other players joining them at the top of the leaderboard.

Nordqvist comes up short with her birdie try but she's started off playing solid enough golf and should give herself a few more looks at birdie today.

  9. Lee joins leaderspublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Lee -9 (11)

It's a birdie fest at Carnoustie today, as Minjee Lee adds her fifth of the day to join the group of five now sharing the lead on nine under.

Strap in folks, this is going to get very, very interesting....

  10. Eagle - Hall pulls herself up to one behind the leaderspublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Hall -8 (6)

Eagles are like buses at the moment. Wait ages for one... and then two come along in a row.

Georgia Hall has been steady so far at level par this morning, but a lovely eagle on the sixth hauls her right up to one behind a four-way split at the top of the leaderboard.

    More of those please!

  11. Eagle - Steph Kyriacou joins the leaders!published at 15:07 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Kyriakou -9 (12)

Well come on, who doesn't like a chance to get the phrase 'the eagle has landed'?

The Aussie has had an absolutely cracking round this morning with four birdies already on the front nine, and so why not card youself an eagle on the 12th?

We now have a four-way tie at the top.

  12. 'It's hard to look past Nordqvist'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Sophie Powell
Ladies European Tour player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Who is going to win? I think it's hard to look past Anna Nordqvist with all the experience she has. But what a story it'd be if Louise Duncan wins. And I also fancy Madelene Sagstrom to do well.

  13. Lovely touchpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Duncan -8 (3)

That's a superb putt from Louise Duncan on the third - from miles away and up over a ridge it's proper three-putt territory but the Scottish amateur is no stranger to links greens and shows it by nearly holing the thing!

  15. Close!published at 14:57 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Nordqvist -9, Madsen -9 (1)

Ouch! Anna Nordqvist's birdie putt on the first gets the full horseshoe treatment as it catches the left edge of the hole but does a full 360 and pops back up right in front of the cup.

They're so annoying but on the first hole of the final round at a major I imagine that counts at least double!

  16. Birdie fest for Hewsonpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Hewson -6 (14)

    Alice HewsonImage source, Getty Images

Blimey, what a charge from England's Alice Hewson! She's seen more birdies than an ornithologist today.

A FOURTH on the bounce at the 14 moves her to six under.

More than likely to be too little too late, but she is on course for a brilliant final day nevertheless.

And that could cement her place in Europe's Solheim Cup team, which will be announced tomorrow morning at 08:30 BST.

  17. Korda's cold putter?published at 14:56 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Henderson -7, Korda -6 (4)

Well yesterday the weather could have played a part in that for Nelly Korda, but she looks in disbelief as a well paced potential birdie putt rolls alongside and stubbornly stays put for another comfortable par.

She still trails her playing partner Brooke Henderson, who snuck a cheeky birdie on the third.

  18. The state of play - latest leaderboardpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Women's Open final day

    -9 L Salas (1), A Nordqvist (14:45), N Koerstz Madsen (14:45)

    -8 M Lee (9), L Duncan (2)

    -7 S Kyriacou (11), Y Noh (4), M Jutanugarn (4), B Henderson (4), A Jutanugarn (3), M Sagstrom (2), S Nuutinen (1)

    Selected others:

    -6 A Hewson (14), G Hall (5), SY Kim (5), N Korda (5), L Thompson (3)

    -4 L Ko (17), L Maguire (6)

  19. Birdie for Salas - takes a share of the leadpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Salas -9, Nuutinen -7 (1)

We have a three-way share at the top of the tree, ladies and gentlemen.

We said Lizette Salas was one to watch this afternoon, as she starts her round with an opening birdie, to put herself in the running with Anna Nordqvist and Nanna Koerstz Madsen, who have just teed off.

  20. Shibuno slumps after bright startpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 22 August 2021

    Shibuno E (9)

2019 Women's Open champion Hinako Shibuno started brightly today with two opening birdies, but it's all gone downhill from there with two bogeys and two doubles to shoot a four-over 40 for the front nine...
