    Casey -11, Smith -14 (17)

Cam Smith aims well right on the 18th with his driver. Surely all he needs to do is avoid the water. Paul Casey plays safe with a three-wood and is a long way back, though slap bang in the middle of the fairway.

He has to go for the flag and hope for the best surely? He does but it comes up short.

    Lahiri -11 (16)

Back on the 17th Anirban Lahiri gives himself a look at birdie. Even if he weren't to win finishing second would be some achievement and pay day.

  3. Postpublished at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Casey -11, Smith -14 (17)

Paul Casey sends a 40-foot putt close but not close enough. That needed to drop really as Cam Smith tidies up to take a three-shot lead.

Jacksonville native Cam Smith is being cheered every step of the way down 17.

He’s all smiles as he’s chatting with Casey while they wait for Burns to chip from the drop zone.

Smith’s shot to four feet is the second closest of the day on 17, beaten only by Sergio Garcia’s knock to two feet.

    Casey -11, Smith -13 (16)

Paul Casey plays to the centre of the green. He resists the temptation to try and follow Smith's outrageous tee shot, which may go some way to deciding the outcome.

Huge applause for Cam Smith before he even hits his tee shot. The fans think this is in the bag. The place falls silent. The ball is in the air. There’s a hush, is this flirting with the water? No. Dry. And close.

Over to you Paul. Centre of the green. Safe.

    Casey -11, Smith -13 (16)

Sam Burns launches the first tee-shot towards the 17th but dunks it straight in the lake.

Cam Smith is up next and he's going flag hunting. Wow. He's landed it dead to five of six feet.

I can't explain how good that is at this stage of proceedings. Paul Casey up next.

So, down the chute between fans and water to the 17th. Two behind, two to play. Remember, Paul Casey holed birdie putts of 53 and 35 feet on the 17th in rounds two and three.

  9. Postpublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Casey -11, Smith -13 (16)

Paul Casey looks frazzled after the 16th hole. If it had been his own pitch mark he could have taken relief, but because it wasn't he couldn't.

    Kisner -10 (17)

Kevin Kisner now up to fourth after three straight birdies from the 15th to 17th.

    Bradley -9 (F)

Keegan Bradley's round concludes with a double after he finds the water with his second on the 18th.

And suddenly, after the relative peace of the back nine, we’re into the theatre of the 16th green with the 17th to our right.

Most of the fans at Sawgrass are on the hills surrounding both greens.

  13. Postpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Lahiri -11 (15)

I can tell you Kara that Anirban Lahiri played a ridiculous shot out of the left green-side bunker on the 15th to help him save par and stay right in this.

Kara: If Lahiri can win this, he will be superstar overnight in India, he may still be if he hangs on to the top three.

Great out by Smith but what should be a birdie hole is now looking like a par. Can Casey take advantage? Not from that lie.

He’s in the middle of the fairway but his ball is in a divot.

No way he can go for the green so he plays a sensible wedge down short of the green.

    Such bad luck.

  16. Bogey for Bradleypublished at 21:38 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Bradley -11 (17)

Keegan Bradley has had a bit of a time of it on 17 making a three-putt bogey.

  17. Postpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 14 March 2022

    Casey -11, Smith -13 (15)

Paul Casey has had a shocker. Yep he's in the middle of the fairway but his ball has rolled into a pitch mark.

Cam Smith's drive is deep in the woods to the left of the 16th.

He’s only gone about 200 yards from the tee and there are about a dozen trees between him and the fairway.

He’s got to thread this through the proverbial eye of the needle. Casey is down the middle.
