  1. 'Masters on the line'published at 20:01 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Two-time major winner Justin Thomas, isn't around this evening after having a bit of a mare in the final few holes of his second round to miss the cut.

But here's his assessment on Twitter , externalof what's left to come: "Gusty winds, Masters on the line, PLENTY of birdie/bowl pins… any hole can produce a birdie-bogey with one swing or decision… Quite the afternoon ahead."

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9 (1)

We're a bit backed up on the par-five second so the leaders have had a bit of a wait under the trees on the tee box before unleashing their drives down the hill.

Koepka's just creeps over the bunker but then bounds off down the hill into fantastic position, but Rahm's leaks a bit too much to the right and skips off into the fans.

  3. Postpublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -8, Cantlay -5 (1)

If you wanted to box up the ideal drive on the second and sell it, you'd be hard pressed to chose between these two beauties.

Hovland goes first, using the breeze to carry the bunker, and using the slope to let his roll.

That's ended up about 344 yards from the tee - and then Cantlay outdrives that.

    Position A. Position A*.

  4. Birdies on twopublished at 19:58 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Henley -6, Matsuyama -5 (2)

Nice job by Russell Henley spinning a wedge up and over the bunker and using the slope to do the rest on the second to pick up his birdie.

Matsuyama plays a blinder as well to match Henley's four and they both creep a shot closer to the leaders.

  5. Postpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Rose -4, Lowry -4 (4)

Fine recovery from Justin Rose, who knocks his iron off the tee on the par-three fourth well right but then shows plenty of flair and imagination with his second, using the camber of the green to roll his chipped second down towards the pin.

It sees the Englishman trade pars with Shane Lowry, who had gone left on the tee and pitched on from the opposite end of the dance floor.

Andrew: Looking forward to there being plenty of ‘matchplay moments’ in this final round, as Koepka and Rahm go head-to-head in the final pairing. Two-shot swings could quickly change the complexion of the leaderboard.

  7. Birdie for Morikawapublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Bennett -4, Morikawa -5 (2)

If you need to make some ground then the second - which has been the second most scoreable hole this week - is where you're looking to get things going.

Collin Morikawa does exactly that with a birdie on the par five, but Sam Bennett has to make do with a par.

He looks mortified when his birdie putt doesn't drop.

  8. Postpublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Schauffele -4, Reed -2 (3)

One of those two strokes frittered away at the second is recovered by Patrick Reed on three, who is rewarded for lobbing in to five feet.

  9. Postpublished at 19:50 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Schauffele -4, Reed -1 (2)

Disaster for Patrick Reed, who ends up having to drop after a wayward tee shot into the pines on the second. He then takes a trip into the right bunker and ends up signing for a hefty double-bogey seven.

In total contrast Xander Schauffele snaffles a birdie after some wizardry out for the same bunker with his third.

  10. 'Quite the afternoon ahead'published at 19:48 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

JT isn't crying a river after missing the cut.

The American two-time major winner is settled down like the rest of us - probably accompanied by some cold cans.

  11. All squarepublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9 (1)

Rahm struggling for par, but he shows a nerveless touch to drain a 10-footer to make his four.

Koepka's on the wrong fairway but finds the right green with his second.

And his putting from long range is, as it has been all week, rock solid, as he knocks that one pretty much stone dead.

    Honours even at the first.

  12. Lowry frustrated by bogey at the thirdpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Rose -4, Lowry -4 (3)

Deft touch from Justin Rose at the third. The 42-year-old flips his wedge on to the green with a touch of spin that acts like tractor beam pulling it towards the hole.

He's in at maybe eight feet but there's no birdie this time as he scrawls a four on his card.

Shane Lowry, also gets on in two and pushes his birdie putt past on the left. The Irishman's hat goes over his head in frustration but he then misses the return prompting an angry gesture as he taps in for bogey.

  13. Bogey for Cantlaypublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -8, Cantlay -5 (1)

While Hovland is pumped by saving par, Patrick Cantlay's mood goes the other way.

He pushes a short par putt right of the hole and that's a shot gone already.

Nightmare start when you want to gain momentum and make moves.

  14. Hovland saves parpublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -8, Cantlay -6 (1)

Hovland didn't make the ninth fairway - instead he's looking for a gap through the trees.

Medicine has to be taken and he knocks out onto the fairway. A wedge towards the pin needs to be good... it's not bad.

There is still a lot of work to do with a 10-footer... made it!!

Cracking save and one which could prove to be key...

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9

    Trish Johnson
Eight-time member of the Team Europe Solheim Cup team

A lot of the players hitting a three wood off this first tee, a lot of them hitting on the left side, it's a lot easier to control a three wood and cut it a little bit.

Or apparently not (for Koepka) watching that!

  16. One left, one rightpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9

And away we go...Three wood for Koepka with the adrenaline coursing through his veins, but it's a bad one as he pulls it miles off to the left.

Rahm also leaves the big dog in the bag and takes a fairway wood, which he smashes out to the right - they could hardly be further apart as they stride off down the first hole.

  17. Cantlay tees offpublished at 19:36 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -8, Cantlay -6 (19:24 BST)

You'd often hear Patrick Cantlay described as "low key".

Keeps himself to himself generally, gets the job done.

Exactly what has happened this week.

Rounds of 71-71-68 has put him into fourth place and many people won't have even noticed.

Lovely start from the American - a silver medal winner as the lowest amateur here in 2012 - who swishes his drive down onto the fairway.

  18. Lowry & Rose birdie secondpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Rose -4, Lowry -5 (2)

Shane Lowry gives a little fist pump. The Irishman does well initially to just about keep his third - a chip and run the length of the green - on the dancefloor and then sinks the return putt for birdie.

Justin Rose, who went long and right with his second flops on and uses the camber of the green to pull his ball back down the slope in towards the pin.

It's a lovely, well thought out shot that sets up a very welcome birdie.

  19. Here we go!published at 19:33 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9 (19:33 BST)

Right then, here we go! I’m sure others will get involved at some stage, but right now it’s Koepka v Rahm going toe-to-toe for the Green Jacket.

Our two gunslingers stroll out to the first tee, neither of these two will back down, they’re both big dogs in the men’s game who like to impose their will on their opponents, and now they’re going to scrap it out over 18 holes at Augusta National.

Excited? Yep, me too, let’s go!

  20. 'Let's see what's up with Koepka'published at 19:31 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -11, Rahm -9 (19:33 BST)

    Andrew Magee
PGA Tour winner on BBC Radio 5 live

The conditions are ideal. They are the best of the week, less humidity.

But it is Masters Sunday, and something's going to happen!

Let's see what's up with Koepka. Can he keep his par five streak going? That might just be good enough.
