  1. Fitz stuck in the mudpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Matsuyama -4, Fitzpatrick -4 (14)

Fitzpatrick ends up in the trees on a sodden pine straw based path, that's usually not too bad to hit from but after the downpour yesterday is a muddy bog to strike from.

He flies the 14th green and hits something and bounces back down onto the fairway, from where he takes three to get in the hole for a bogey.

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (9)

Well, well, well. Brooks Koepka looks in bother down the right after drilling his ball right off the 10th tee.

He's got a huge tree branch right in front of him and is going to have to chip out sideways.

Jon Rahm's ball is placed on the right of the fairway. Not the ideal angle but it'll only be a wedge into the flag.

  3. Cantlay picks up anotherpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Cantlay -7 (16)

Patrick Cantlay is almost moving in slow motion on the 16th green as he lines up an eight-footer for another birdie.

Long, slow, deliberate backswing. Ball on its way. Never leaves the centre of the hole.

He's only four behin Jon Rahm in second.

  4. Bogeys for bothpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Morikawa -4, Hovland -3 (10)

Collin Morikawa and Viktor Hovland are dragging each other down as they both bogey the 10th to both sit two shots worse off then when they started the round yesterday.

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (9)

Brooks Koepka putts his way back up the hill. It half stops and carries on before pulling up five feet or so short. Is he happy with that? He doesn't look it but we've all been there. In fact I'd probably be overjoyed with that one personally.

Jon Rahm has to aim his third about 40 feet left of the hole and trust that the camber on the green will bring it back.

Here he goes...oh that's wonderful. It bounces off left before turning sharply and trickling in to around 10 feet and he drains another tricky putt. Over to you Brooks..who responds by saving his par.

  6. Birdies for Cantlaypublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Cantlay -6 (15)

Patrick Cantlay is one of those players who often crops up near the top of leaderboards but just can't seem to get it done in majors.

He's got a best of joint ninth at Augusta National, in 2019, but is rattling along nicely this week.

Here he is on the par-five 15th. He's pounded a long iron in to about a dozen feet to set up a big eagle opportunity. It looks pretty straight. He starts it a touch left. It never comes back. Kick-in birdie.

  7. Matsuyama making a movepublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Matsuyama -4, Fitzpatrick -5 (13)

Hideki Matsuyama has a Green Jacket stashed away, could he possibly win another? It'll take some move to catch the leaders but he's making one with four birdies in six holes around the turn.

He picks up the fourth on the par-five 13th showing he knows his way around this place pretty well.

Playing partner Matt Fitzpatrick also picks up a shot on the 13th and he moves to five under, a shot ahead of Matsuyama but still a mile back of the leaders.

  8. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (8)

Jon Rahm is right off the tee on the ninth and he doesn't much like his approach either as his muddy ball slides off his club face and turns left before splashing into the sand of the far greenside bunker.

Brooks Koepka has a chance to apply a bit of pressure here and lands his approach on the green pin high, but there’s way too much backspin on his ball, which slips back down the slope onto the fairway.

An up-and-down contest on the way.

  9. Hatton on birdie runpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hatton -3 (12)*

England's Tyrrell Hatton is putting together a useful round. He started yesterday on the 10th and has just followed a birdie on the par-five second with another on the third.

Koepka and Rahm look too far ahead but the pin on six is friendly and the eighth tends to give up a birdie, so he's got more opportunities to come and he always seems to get birdies in clumps...

  10. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

We not really mentioned the weather today...yet.

Well Sunday's forecast is for lingering drizzle before drier conditions later in the day with overcast skies becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

So with a bit of luck we should get finished albeit how the likes of Brooks Koepka holds up given his well documented knee problems, external will be interesting to see.

"I'm not too concerned about playing 29 holes or however many holes we've got left. It's part of the deal," said Koepka before heading out on Sunday.

"I'm pretty sure I'll be up for it considering it is the Masters. So I don't think anybody should have a problem with that."

  11. Birdies all around for final groupingpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -11, Bennett -6 (8)

Brooks Koepka can't reach the green with his second but then floats a beautiful wedge into four feet or so. He'll be surely getting that shot back that he lost on the seventh.

Rahm knocks his second down the right and now chips on to 12 feet.

Rambo is right on it here and drops in his birdie putt just when Koepka probably thought he was going to eke another stroke advantage.

This is glorious golf and Sam Bennett adds a little more sparkle holing from 24 feet.

Bennett is already guaranteed to win the silver medal, as the only amateur to make the cut but clearly wants more.

  12. Hovland going backwardspublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Hovland -4 (9), Day -3 (9)

    Viktor HovlandImage source, Getty Images

Viktor Hovland just can't get himself back into gear. The Norwegian had a sensational seven-under 65 in round one but has played fairly pedestrian golf since then.

He makes the cardinal sin of being a little short on the ninth and his ball is spinning back off the front. He's been saved by the dampness of the course though. Most days that is tumbling 40-50 yards down the slope.

Today, it holds. An average chip though leaves him five feet for par.

He's playing with Jason Day, who two-putts to stay three under, two shorts worse than he started the round.

And is that Hovland's tournament gone? The five-footer starts left, stays left. Shot gone.

  13. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -5 (7)

Brooks Koepka smashed his tee shot away on the eighth. He's very much trying to show everyone that little hiccup on seven won't cause any issues and that he's back to his very best here.

Meanwhile, Jon Rahm went right, appearing to go in the sand which is pretty fitting I suppose as he attempts to lift his second major on Seve's birthday.

And not forgetting amateur Sam Bennett, who dropped a shot at the last trying to surprise everyone, finding perfect positions with his first two shots on this hole.

What's not to like about this.

  14. Fitz makes early bogeypublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Fitzpatrick -4 (12)

Matt Fitzpatrick iis a little long with his tee shot on the par-three 12th, in that familiar little dell at the back of the green. The flag is in the middle of the green, so he's got a bit to work with but doesn't give his chip enough and it pulls up eight feet short. The par putt slides by. Shot gone.

He's playing with Hideki Matsuyama, who nails his seven-footer to get to three under.

  15. Rahm makes birdie as Koepka bogeyspublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -12, Rahm -10, Bennett -5 (7)

Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm have had all night to think about their putts on the seventh green.

Could this be a two-shot swing in the Spaniard's favour? Koepka is up first for par but sees his ball race on right past the hole.

Now up comes Rahm...in it goes. Game on.

What a start to the resumption of play.

Woods withdraws from Masters with injury

Got to be honest it was a really tough watch to see Tiger Woods limping around the Augusta National on Saturday.

The five-time champion has admitted that he is in constant pain so it maybe wasn't a surprise to see him withdraw due to injury today.

He has to go to extraordinary lengths to just compete these days given his back problems down the years and the severity of the injuries he sustained in 2021 (in a car crash) and their lasting effects.

Still he squeaked inside inside the cut line, in conditions that really don't do him any favours, to equal Gary Player and Fred Couples for most consecutive times playing into the weekend at the Masters (23).

Five-time winner Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the Masters due to injury prior to the resumption of the third round on Sunday.

In a post on Twitter, external Woods wrote: "I am disappointed to have to WD this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis.

"Thank you to the fans and to The Masters who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!"

Woods made a record-equalling 23rd consecutive halfway cut at Augusta National on Saturday when the delayed second round was completed.

However, the 47-year-old then covered the first seven holes of his third round in six over par to drop to nine over overall and last place of the 54 players to qualify for the last 36 holes.

  18. Postpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Koepka -13, Rahm -9 (6)

Brooks Koepka had a pretty charmed Friday, finishing well before the inclement weather conditions and the American extended his advantage at Augusta National on Saturday.

Both he and Jon Rahm birdied the second as round three - delayed after Friday's storms - got under way late, but the Spaniard then bogeyed the fourth and fifth holes to drop off the pace slightly.

That said things could change pretty sharpish. Rahm will have a birdie putt when they resume on the seventh with Koepka battling to save his par.

Welcome to our coverage of a Super Easter Sunday at the Masters.

It has been a bit of a challenge to get to this point at a stormy Augusta National.

Wind, rain and fallen trees have caused havoc to the schedule and saw play end early on Saturday for the second straight day.

So today could well be a bit of a marathon with the third round still to be completed but hopefully there'll be enough time to fit that and the fourth round in and crown a champion this evening.

As it stands Brooks Koepka is at 13 under and has a four-stroke lead over Jon Rahm at the top of the leaderboard.

However, there are a posse of players - including Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick and Norway's Victor Hovland - between the six and four under mark.

Will any of those emerge from the pack to challenge? Anyone else excited to see what today brings?

Time to get this show on the road then.
