Well, that's your lot from Oak Hill as another US PGA Championship is in the books, but the great part about it is that we're back in just under a month for the US Open!

The majors come thick and fast now and the US Open at Los Angeles Country Club should be another belter.

Brooks Koepka, a two-time former US Open champion, is back to his best and could well go back-to-back, while Jon Rahm will want to erase a difficult time at Oak Hill and Rory McIlroy will not be please Koepka now has more majors than him.

So, as ever thanks for following, and make sure you head right back here next month for full coverage of the US Open.

  2. Koepka among the greatspublished at 00:30 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

Brooks Koepka's fifth major title puts him in some legendary company as he joins the great Seve Ballesteros along with other all-time greats such as Peter Thomson and Byron Nelson who all also won five majors.

And he'll now have another trio of golfing superstars in his sights, as Phil Mickelson Sir Nick Faldo and Lee Trevino are next on the list with six major titles each.

If Koepka keeps playing like this he could move up the list even further.

  3. Brooks Koepka - major manpublished at 00:19 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

US PGA ChampionshipImage source, Getty Images

Koepka's record is quite amazing, in that he's now won five majors and yet for all his time on the PGA Tour he only won four other tournaments.

He's often voiced how he really gets up for golf's biggest prizes, and regular PGA Tour events obviously didn't do it for him - basing his entire year around the majors.

Now playing on the LIV Golf tour, Koepka can do the same kind of things, albeit with a far greater financial reward and playing in a different format.

But it's clear Koepka is is different kind of animal when he rocks up to the majors.

  4. A really good era for golf right nowpublished at 00:15 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Oak Hill

We are in a really good era for golf right now, albeit with schisms at play, which add to the interest.

Koepka now sits alongside Scheffler, Rahm, Mcilroy. There are real superstars at the top of the game.

We go to the US Open and it could be that someone else - say Dechambeau - wins there and by the time we get to Hoylake there's so many talking points there.

It's very healthy for the game of golf, albeit in a scenario which has been out of character for the game, and distasteful at times since the arrival of LIV.

  5. 'It sucks right now but we're going to get one of these soon'published at 00:14 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

Spare a thought amid all these celebrations for joint runner-up Viktor Hovland who was well in contention for the title until the freak plugged bunker shot on the 16th - when he was within one shot of the lead - that derailed his hopes.

"It sucks right now, but it is really cool to see that things are going the right direction," the world number 11, from Norway, said.

"If I just keep taking care of my business and just keep working on what I've been doing, I think we're going to get one of these soon.

"Brooks is a great player, and now he has five majors. I mean, that's a hell of a record right there. It's not easy going toe to toe with a guy like that. He is not going to give you anything, and I didn't really feel like I gave him anything either until 16. So I feel like I belong out here, and I just have got to get a little bit better, and hopefully it goes my way the next time."

  6. Will Koepka play at the Ryder Cup?published at 00:12 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

    Zach JohnsonImage source, Getty Images

US Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson has again been asked about Brooks Koepka’s chances of making the team for September, given his outstanding form at the majors.

“I just think it’s too premature, frankly irresponsible, to even have any opinion about that," said Johnson.

“Given where we're at right now, if you go back in history, there's names right now probably on both tours that we're not even mentioning that could have a chance.”

Koepka and Dustin Johnson are two LIV players who are eligible for the Ryder Cup because they were granted PGA of America membership - a requirement to be selected for the team - through 2024.

  7. An intriguing time for golfpublished at 00:08 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

    Iain Carter
BBC golf correspondent at Oak Hill

Brooks Koepka (and Dustin Johnson) are eligible for the Ryder cup.

[US captain] Zach Johnson was playing down all questions - but you now have a guy who finished second in The Masters and has won the PGA - it is inconceivable that if he is eligible for the US team, well it is highly likely he is going to qualify, but if he doesn't, how do you not pick him?

You cannot ignore him now but what does that do for the dynamic of the team, it just adds so much to the intrigue of the Ryder Cup, come September, if Koepka is not there.

Journalists will go to LIV now to speak to the golfing man of the moment.

It is such an intriguing time for the game of golf.

  8. Koepka comeback completedpublished at 00:06 British Summer Time 22 May 2023

US PGA ChampionshipImage source, Getty Images

Anyone who saw the Full Swing docu-series will know that Brooks Koepka was down in the dumps as injuries and loss of form had him contemplating if he could ever compete at the top level again.

He won four majors in dominant fashion but when he slipped, the man we thought was such a big, tough, confident guy seemed lost.

However, now fully healthy, he's looking every bit the major man again, going close at Augusta was a warm-up, and this week he was full-on Koepka major mode.

He's been down and out, but now he's back - and that spells danger for anyone wanting to win majors in the next few years.

"I don't know how many guys have won five times, but to be with those groups of names is absolutely incredible and I'll be honest I'm not even sure I dreamed of it as a kid.

"This is the coolest thing and I was happy to do it in front of these New York fans - I love you guys!

"We've got three majors in New York and it's been a second home for me.

"Props to the staff at Oak Hill - it's been phenomenal with the beating it took, and to the PGA."

Michael Block says he is "the happiest guy in the world" after thrilling the crowds at the US PGA Championship.

The Californian club professional struck a barely believable hole-in-one on 15 on his way to a final round of one over par and a tie for 15th.

"I did not see it go in!" he told Sky Sports. "I thought, 'Why is Rory hugging me? He wouldn't hug me if it had gone close!'

"It's been a very good weekend and I'm going home the happiest guy in the world."

Block will earn $288,333 for his performance this weekend but he says he has not given the money any thought.

"It will be great to have for my family, but I didn't do today for that," he said. "I wanted to do it for that crowd."

Rory McIlroy, who finished two under, was talking to Sky Sports:

"I think my game got a little better each day. It definitely progressed. I feel sort of close but I also feel so far away at the same time - it's a weird feeling.

"I know I need to be better especially in these major championships. I need to keep those black numbers off the cards and especially from those positions I was in as well.

"The good stuff is in there. the bad stuff needs needs to be be eradicated a little bit and I need to work on it."

  13. Koepka learns from Masters slip-uppublished at 23:44 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

Koepka wins the US PGA Championship

Brooks Koepka admitted he "choked" at the Masters last month when leading, but also crucially said he knew exactly why and would put it right this time.

And he did just that - he attacked from the off, hit a hat-trick of birdies, and then showed his character to respond when a few bogeys crept onto his card.

Even when it got close today, you always got the feeling that his confidence and belief was never shaken.

  14. Keopka proves you can play on LIV and still win biggest prize in golfpublished at 23:40 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Koepka -9 (67)

    Iain Carter

  15. Brooks Koepka wins the US PGA Championship!published at 23:35 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Koepka -9, Hovland -7 (18)

And there it is! Koepka with yet another safe two-putt and that's more than good enough to see his third US PGA Championship victory, and didn't he deserve it for a supreme effort.

It's a final round 67 to earn a two-shot victory over Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler.

  16. Birdie for Hovlandpublished at 23:34 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Koepka -9, Hovland -7 (18)

Lovely finish for Hovland, and he deserved that after a really tough finish - he didn't do too much wrong at all apart from that 16th bunker.

  17. Job donepublished at 23:31 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Koepka -9, Hovland -6 (17)

Brilliant! Just brilliant from 170 yards out from Koepka to stick it to about six feet and that is about that, he can enjoy the best walk in golf - striding down the last fairway safe in the knowledge you're going to win a major!

And his fifth major and third US PGA Championship as well.

  19. Off down 18published at 23:29 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

Just a couple of good swings away now for Koepka as he tees off on 18, and it is a good hit and just about misses the edge of the bunker.

His heart would've been in his mouth when the ball as in the air, but it's not in a great spot for his second.
