    Rose -2, Scheffler -2 (19:10 BST)

It's not unfair to say Justin Rose has struggled to find the fairways this week despite his lofty position on the Oak Hill leaderboard.

But no such trouble for the Englishman on the first hole of his final round - a cracker down the middle.

He's well outdriven by Scottie Scheffler, though, as the American pounds one down the left of the 460-yard par-four opener.

  2. Postpublished at 19:13 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Block E (19:00 BST)

Rory McIlroy has 144 yards to the pin after a 318-yard drive. And he stuffs his approach to inside two feet.

    Boom.

Surely a birdie start for the Northern Irishman.

Michael Block's opening drive actually went further left than originally thought into the junk and he chops his second out but is still shy of the green.

  3. Don't count out Connerspublished at 19:11 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Conners -5 (19:20 BST)

    Corey ConnersImage source, Getty Images

Ask anyone to name the best player never to win a major and Corey Conners would probably still fly under the radar.

Yet the 31-year-old Canadian is a cool customer. He boasts a sixth-placed finish at The Masters in 2022 and has a win on the PGA Tour already under his belt this year.

Yesterday, he looked completely in control until a frustrating double bogey on the 16th.

Expect him to hang around, ready to capitalise on any mistakes at the top.

  4. Still a headline actpublished at 19:08 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3 (19:20 BST)

On this weekend's evidence, Bryson DeChambeau is still one of the best golfers around.

Boasting a leaner build than his experimental physique of 2020, he is phenomenal off the tee and has shown good hands around the green.

His 66 on Thursday remains the joint-best round of the tournament.

If he can put together something similar today, he's in with a shout.

If a challenge is going to come from outside the two leading groups, surely it's going to emerge from this pairing.

World number two Scottie Scheffler has been a major machine in the past two or three years, finally fulfilling his potential with last year's Masters title.

England's Justin Rose, meanwhile, won the US Open a decade ago and has been a perennial challenger at the majors for nigh on 25 years now, as well as winning the gold medal in golf's maiden appearance at the Olympics.

They are set to begin shortly, four shots off the pace, but far from out of it.

  7. Low scoring in final roundpublished at 19:05 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

If Rory McIlroy needed any encouragement, he can take a look down the course at some of the scoring that's gone before him.

Last year's Open winner at St Andrew's Cameron Smith is on -3 through nine, as is LIV Golf colleague Mito Pereira after 13 holes and Xander Schauffele on the 12th.

Americans Patrick Cantlay and Kurt Kitayama are among a clutch of players at -2 for their rounds.

A couple of early birdies for Rory would do nicely.

  8. Postpublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Block E (19:00 BST)

Rory McIlroy clatters his ball away down the first. The world number three likes what he sees as his ball races down the left of the fairway.

But listen to that cheer. Talk about Sunday hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck vibes...

Michael Block is now on the tee box and smashes his ball away, also down the left of the fairway. Great start.

  10. Implications of a high finish for Blockpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Block E (19:00 BST)

South California club professional Michael Block has been a real crowd favourite at Oak Hill this week, with his carefree attitude and some seriously good golf shots coming to the fore. But there's a fair bit riding on a decent finish for him here...

  11. McIlroy needs to go lowpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Block E (19:00 BST)

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy, who secured the last of his four major titles at the US PGA Championship in 2014, often found himself battling his own swing as well as some miserable on-course conditions on Saturday.

And given he's also had some sort of bug the world number three isn't too badly placed is he?

"I'd like to be a couple shots closer to the lead, but with how I've felt this week, if you had told me on Thursday night I'd be going into Sunday with a realistic chance to win this golf tournament, I would have taken it," he said.

"I need to keep hope. I have to believe that there is a score like that [65] out there because looking at the board, it's probably a score I'm going to have to shoot, something like that, to have a chance to win."

  12. Koepka aiming to join exalted companypublished at 18:53 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    Koepka -6 (19:30)

    Brooks KoepkaImage source, Getty Images

Should Brooks Koepka claim the Wanamaker Trophy for a third time he will become only the sixth player to win the US PGA Championship on three or more occasions along with Walter Hagen and Jack Nicklaus (five), Tiger Woods (four), Gene Sarazen and Sam Snead (three).

Of course there is a certain player from Northern Ireland heading out very shortly for whom that would also apply.

  13. 'Really?!'published at 18:51 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

    McIlroy -1, Block E (19:00 BST)

Imagine being paired with Rory McIlroy for the final round of the US PGA Championship.

    Michael Block's reaction is brilliant.

Rory McIlroy is five shots back entering the final round.

Well, Justin Thomas came from seven back to win the US PGA Championship last year.

With frost, wind and torrential rain, at times it's felt like we've had all four seasons of the year at Oak Hill this week.

But as you can see it's sunshine central today.

Probably no need for caps facing backwards.

What a feast of major championship golf we've got tonight, and just look at the names we've got fighting it out for the Wanamaker Trophy.

Club pro Michael Block has a dream draw, but that's not a bad one for Rory McIlroy either as there's no doubt he plays better when he's loose and Block's a real character who can help him relax.

Brooks Koepka admitted to choking at the Masters, and Viktor Hovland has come close his last two majors, can they hold their nerve this time?
