    3UP Rose/MacIntyre v Thomas/Spieth (15)

Oh Robert MacIntyre has arrived at the Ryder Cup now! He's bagged a beautiful up-and-down from that front bunker on 15 to halve the hole and move Europe three up with three to play.

There's a smile starting to grow on the left-hander's face now...

    1UP Fitzpatrick/McIlroy v Cantlay/Clark (14)

With Thomas and Spieth unable to win more than half a point - if they can even do that - there's even more pressure now on Cantlay and Clark.

    1UP Fitzpatrick/McIlroy v Cantlay/Clark (14)

An American voice on the 15th tee seems to be shouting 'Attaboy' after every visiting drive.

It's not Butch Harmon, he loves that phrase.

Anyway, it is certainly justified after Wyndham Clark wallops his ball 328 yards down the middle.

Patrick Cantlay, less so. He's in the rough on the right, maybe nestling in the sand.

More importantly for the home fans, McIlroy and Fitzpatrick are both on the fairway, a bit further back from Clark.

    3UP Rose/MacIntyre v Thomas/Spieth (14)

Sit rep: Robert MacIntyre is in the front bunker, Jordan Spieth is in the rough wide right of the green and Justin Thomas is on the green about 50 feet away.

Justin Rose had to dig it out of the rough, so he's in the middle of the green 30 feet away but in three, the rest have played two.

I think we've just watched a superstar in the making in Max Homa. He has just been sensational. It had to be that he holed the winning putt for America.

I can't see why he wouldn't be out playing number one. He's the one in form, he's been the best player on the American team that I've seen in the last two days

A hole has been won for only the third time in this match with two of them, obviously, going the way of Europe.

McIlroy has been responsible for both of them, carding a two on the fourth before this brilliant birdie on the 14th.

Homa & Harman beat Fleetwood & Hojgaard 2&1

    Fitting.

Max Homa does indeed finish off the Europeans with a calm putt back up the hill.

These two have got two of America's four and a half points today.

They need some help from those coming up behind them.

    Fleetwood/Hojgaard v Homa/Harman 2UP (16)

What an effort from Nicolai Hojgaard, spitting it out of the sand and watching it just inch past.

Max Homa is off line with his putter and he'll have a nervy one back up to make par.

As for Tommy Fleetwood, he can win the hole from off the green here. Wow, so close! A few in the crowd definitely thought that was in.

    Nailed it!

An incredible hole from McIlroy and an incredible time to deliver.

A beast of a drive, a pinpoint short iron and a confident putt.

The Northern Irishman roars with delight as he puts Europe one ahead with four to play in this monumental final match.

Those tears at Whistling Straits feel like a different lifetime.

    Fitzpatrick/McIlroy v Cantlay/Clark A/S (13)

Patrick Cantlay has the chance to be a party pooper. He's much further out than McIlroy and this would heap on the pressure.

It's a nice roll, just misses the cup.

    McIlroy for the hole...

Oh, Rory McIlroy! A sizzler of a drive arcs over the dogleg and touches down on the fairway with the grace of a bird.

Not only that, he backs it up with a gorgeous approach which leaves him about 10 feet from the pin.

What a birdie chance this is. McIlroy's joyful celebratory hug with Matt Fitzpatrick illustrates the mood in the camp.

    Who can hold their nerve?

We saw Wyndham Clark become nervous in the crucial stages of the fourballs against Justin Rose and Bob MacIntyre yesterday.

Oooh, and he's just flung his drive on 14 into the rough on the right.

    Fleetwood/Hojgaard v Homa/Harman 2UP (16)

Running slightly hot? It's a shank for Tommy Fleetwood off the tee on the par-three 17th and he's out right.

Limited damage though as he has avoided that gruesome thick stuff and is in the first cut.

His partner does not fare better though, picking out the bunker.

Europe have to win this hole, remember.

    Steve Sutcliffe

Tommy Fleetwood is a natural showman and raises his arms lapping up the adulation of what seems like thousands of his own personal fans on the 16th green. That chip was glorious.

  17. Sand save for the win!published at 16:19 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    3UP Rose/MacIntyre v Thomas/Spieth (14)

That's an up-and-down right out of the top draw from Justin Rose, who only produced about a B- with his escape from the sand, but it was full marks for the putt.

That leaves Justin Thomas with eight feet for the half, and he can't find it so Europe go three up in this one, the only match they're ahead in.

    Fitzpatrick/McIlroy v Cantlay/Clark A/S (13)

Five holes left in this final match of the day and, with it balancing precariously like a novice tightrope walker, it cannot be stressed enough how important the outcome is.

A European win will feel like a huge leap towards their target of 14 and a half points.

But an American win will renew their hopes of an extraordinary fight back.

A half suits the hosts more.

  19. Fleetwood chips in on 16published at 16:16 British Summer Time 30 September 2023

    Fleetwood/Hojgaard v Homa/Harman 2UP (16)

    Oh Tommy, Tommy!!!

What a moment on 16. Max Homa chipped in on the last from the rough, and Fleetwood does exactly the same here, turning to take the rapturous acclaim from the huge crowds around the green.

They looked dead and buried two holes ago but the Europeans are alive and kicking in this one.

Robert MacIntyre really needed that putt on 13, after the miss at 12 and a few others today. He's so desperate to do well here maybe he's trying too hard at times, but maybe this putt can just allow him to take the handbrake off.
