    There have been some great amateurs over the years and you can add Sam Waley-Cohen to that list. He has gone and won the Grand National on his last ever ride. It is a sensational result.

    "I was probably more confident a month ago than I was today. It is the stuff of dreams. Today was the plan. It is nice when a plan comes together.

    "I didn't get to see much of him early doors but going away from the stands here I took a breath because it was a perfect position. That last circuit everything seemed to fall into place. I don't know when this will register."

    As an amateur rider, Sam Waley-Cohen will not receive any prizemoney for his famous win.

    The 39-year-old has a day job running a successful dentistry business.

    He is a long-time friend of Prince William and Kate Middleton and was a guest at their wedding in 2011.

    Any Second Now was brilliant. We couldn't have asked any more. He jumped super. Weight probably caught us out but what a race. It is fantastic for Sam Waley-Cohen, you could not ask for a better way to go out.

    That is what dreams are made of. He has a phenomenal record. This horse was bought earlier this year for Sam to go out on. He has not ridden as much this year as in previous years.

    Seeing him up the run-in I was thinking this just can't happen.
