    And that's that for the North West 200 2022.

    Worth the wait? I'd say so.

    Six magnificent races, doubles for Richard Cooper and Glenn Irwin and one apiece for Lee Johnston and Alastair Seeley.

  5. Brookes pleased with third

    These guys have set a new standard. That second race was much better for me but I still couldn't match the guys at the front. I am just pleased to be able to bring it home in third. I have always had the appetite to come back.

  6. 'I always knew I could do it' - Cooper

    I never believed that I wasn't capable of doing it, I always in my mind knew I could do it. As the meeting comes closer we all get a little bit excited then the dust settles and we go again, if there's an opportunity I'll have to be seriously thinking about an opportunity to come back and ride in this fantastic circuit.

  7. Emotional Irwin 'overwhelmed' at Superbike double

    On the last two laps the crowd were going nuts and I wanted to start waving. A light came on on my dash and I didn't want to celebrate too early. I love the team, when I joined here they have really rebuilt me, we came here and got the job done. I love it at the North West, it is overwhelming.

  8. An elated Irwin giving plenty to the crowd and demanding he is lifted in the air as he bathes in the win and what is now a total domination of the Superbike class at this event.

    He's now conducting the crowd in a 'hip, hip, hooray' cheer in honour of himself. Let's be honest, we've all dreamed of doing that at some point.

  9. Irwin completes Superbike double

    In a league of his own.

    Glenn Irwin is looking behind him and pumping his fist long before he crosses the finish line.

    And cross it he does, another Saturday superbike double for him.

  10. Irwin is onto his final lap. Just nine miles of clear road between him and a sixth (!!!!!) successive Superbikes win at the North West 200.

    Michael Rutter has been dropped from the battle for fourth, where Ian Hutchinson leads James Hillier and John McGuinness.

  12. Michael Rutter and John McGuinness going hammer and tongs at the back of a four-way battle for fourth.

    Ian Hutchinson leads that mini-skirmish for now, with each of the top three enjoying a good bit of distant between themselves and the next closest racer.

    Richard Cooper is still in second but has now totally lost sight of Irwin's Honda.

    The race meeting has been superb, today in particular, so it's a real shame this final race is a bit of an anti-climax.

    Not that Glenn Irwin will mind - he's well on his way to making it six Superbikes wins in a row.

    That will put him level with John McGuinness for six North West 200 victories.

  15. Irwin 'making this look easy'

    Glenn Irwin is making this look easy but it is anything but, of course. He will want to see that chequered flag without any mistakes along the way. His only focus right now will be on securing his sixth Superbike success in a row.

  16. Josh Brookes the latest to fall foul of University corner, but such is his lead in third from those behind him that he is able to move his bike back and continue on the right path without losing a place.

  17. A 2.3 second lead for Irwin now over Cooper. Josh Brookes is comfortably in third before an entertaining battle between John McGuinness, James Hillier, Michael Rutter and Ian Hutchinson.

  18. Cooper 'taking the race to Irwin'

    I can't see Richard Cooper closing this gap on Glenn Irwin, unless there is a mistake from Irwin. That said, Cooper is starting to take the race to him. He was sonly a second behind him on the last lap.

  19. Cooper is applying the pressure but at the moment Irwin is not flinching, controlling the race at the front and not giving his nearest opponent the slightest glimmer of an opportunity.

  20. So we have two racers who have already topped the podium today, indeed Cooper has done it twice with a dominant Supertwin double.

    Looks like he is happy for Irwin to do the leg work out in front at the moment, and is just focused on keeping himself within touching distance of the race leader for now.
