In that Supersport race Todd had the slightly faster bike and led for the majority of it with Lee Johnston right with him throughout.
He finds himself in the reverse of that here as he leads Irwin by the barest of margins as lap three begins.
Richard Cooper has clocked the fastest lap of the race and is gaining on the frontrunners.

Here comes Richard Cooper! He's shaken off Dean Harrison and is coming after the leading duo!
Glenn Irwin loses control for a millisecond heading towards York Corner, he wobbles which gives Davey Todd the invitation he's after to slip inside Irwin and take the lead.
It's not for long though as the straight line speed of Irwin's Honda sees him catapult back in front of Todd.
Richard Cooper is not far behind and could well make this a three-horse race before long.
Richard Cooper is fending off Dean Harrison in third at the moment.
Davey Todd is sticking like glue to the rear wheel of early race leader Glenn Irwin, both are looking good right now.

It's Glenn Irwin on the factory Honda against Davey Todd on the Padgetts Honda.
There was goosebumps on the grid as the engines revved and they powered down towards Portstewart. The Superbikes just hit different.

Davey Todd, so nearly the winner in that epic Supersport ding-dong battle with Lee Johnston, is right back at it again and has not let Glenn Irwin get away from him at the front.
Peter Hickman is furious with himself!
He can't get the bike stopped at University and is forced to take the slip road having out-braked himself and comes to a stop as he curses himself inside his helmet.
And just like that his chances of winning this race are over, he was in third before that.
And away go the big bikes.
Glenn Irwin is over the front of the bike and gets away fairly well.
Seems fairly likely that the lap record will be broken at some point during this race. Who's it going to be?

Hearing Lee Johnston isn't on the grid for this opening Superbike race.
Riders are limited in how many races they can compete in during the day, so the Supersport winner is sitting this one out and keeping his powder dry for later.
There's a real buzz for this one, can anyone stop Glenn Irwin?
Right a reminder of your front row, it's Glenn Irwin on pole followed by Peter Hickman and newly crowned Supertwin champion Richard Cooper in third.
The excitement doesn't end there. Far from it, in fact.
We now say hello to the Superbikes for the first time since 2019. Glenn Irwin going for a fifth win in a row on the big bikes.

Quote MessageIt's a pity we didn't get away at the start and I made a silly mistake with changing the gearing. These bikes are extremely fast and I caught up but those boys (Johnston and Todd) but they pushed off as I was going to Coleraine.
