  2. 'We might get a three-way fight'published at 15:20 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Quote Message

Glenn Irwin is known for his Superbike prowess. Richard Cooper has made a lot of ground on the leader, and so has Josh Brookes, so maybe we could get a three-way fight in this one.

Glenn Irwin wasn't far away from losing control from his bike there as he skims the white line coming into the final corner.

The machine shakes from side to side but Irwin gets a handle on it and stays out in front with Cooper chasing.

University corner has been the scourge of today's competitors, this time it's Ian Hutchinson who can't turn on time as he's forced onto the slip road.

Richard Cooper is hot on the heels of race leader Glenn Irwin in lap one.

Anyway, those not using Dunlop Tyres Superbike-spec slick tyres are good to go.

Still many big names out there of course, including winner of the first Superbike race and indeed the last five Superbike races at the NW200.

    And away they go.

    Well, what a shame.

A magnificent day's racing but a hugely depleted grid for the biggest show of all.

As Clive Padgett says though, safety absolutely must come first and if there are any questions marks at all then you have to err on the side of caution.

Safety has to come first. There's many more years racing here for Davey. Man of the meeting without any shadow of of a doubt, if anyone wants to discuss that with me they can.

  8. Todd 'gutted' at missing outpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

    Quote Message

I'm gutted, to be honest. Dunlop have advised us not to go out in the Superbike race. I have an awesome bike to race. I've been so close to winning but what can we do? we have to take heed of what they are recommending.

    Davey Todd

  9. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 14 May 2022

Davey Todd among those advised to not go out for the second Superbike race.

He is devastated, having been so impressive so far today.

It's great to be here - what a day. I said last night that records would tumble and they have. It's so great to see the North West back at full capacity. I think Glenn Irwin is the man for this final race.

That's very sad, he is our man here but we have to respect him for his decision. Safety is paramount and tyres are very carefully monitored these days. We will continue with the rest of the meet and will finish on a high.
