British number one Johanna Konta is steamrolling past Liechtenstein's Stephanie Vogt in the women's singles.

As you would expect the 10th seed to do against an opponent ranked 290th in the world.

No wonder this patriotic British pair at the Olympic Tennis Centre are as pleased as punch.

Tense at the end. A member of the USA technical staff is behind me and he kicked every ball there.

"Go get it, go get it," was his call of choice.

It'll be New Zealand v Great Britain for a place in the final tomorrow afternoon.

Portia Woodman's try all the All Blacks needed, 5-0. GB have been free scoring, can that win the day? One more win guarantees a silver.

    Women's road race

Here's an update on Netherlands' Annemiek van Vleuten.

She suffered a horrendous crash while leading the women's road race - it was on the same descent that Geraint Thomas, Vincenzo Nibali and Richie Porte or fell on in the men's race yesterday.

Lizzie Armitstead was a woman in demand earlier in the mixed zone and her face says it all.

The Great Britain world champion admitted she was exhausted after a troublesome fortnight and did all she could on a course which was not really suited to her to finish fifth in the Olympics road race.

After the horrific crash which Dutch rider Annemiek van Vleuten suffered on the 516m descent down from Estrada da Vista Chinesa, sometimes you have to put things in perspective.

Chris Boardman said afterwards he thought the lack of road furniture made it dangerous, and having been up and down there two days ago, you realise that not only were the riders dealing with a treacherous descent but often the thickness of the tree canopy above made spotting the road quite difficult. You can see the descent below.

    Women's quarter finals

Wow, that was a tense finish.

New Zealand have beaten USA 5-0 in the final quarter final, but spent the last five minutes camped on their own try line after receiving a yellow card.

That sets up a semi against Team GB, with Canada or Australia waiting in the final.

So we know Great Britain will meet the winners of this game between the USA and New Zealand.

Both these sides are well supported at this Games from what I've seen and they have decided to plot up next to one another. New Zealand are number two in the world, USA sixth.

Both the semi-finals and final will be played on Monday.

Try for the All Blacks, Portia Woodman down the right flank. Conversion missed, 5-0.

    Great Britain 2-2 New Zealand

Not the result either side wanted - but one they will have to accept.

Both sides lost their opening fixtures yesterday and earn an opening point each after a 2-2 draw.

Britain led inside two minutes when David Condon slotted in from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

The Kiwis turned the game around through Kane Russell and Hayden Phillips, but British skipper Barry Middleton levelled before half-time.

With the introduction of a quarter-final stage at Rio, Britain only need to finish in the top four of their six-team groups to qualify.

Liam Pitchford won his second-round match earlier today, and then Paul Drinkhall followed suit a little later.

Pitchford is back in action in round three at midnight BST tonight - he faces world number 12  Jung Young-sik of South Korea.
