A perfect start from Chris and Gabby Adcock as they comfortably win the first end 21-13 against their Chinese opponents.

That means the world-ranked seven pair are halfway to victory in their opening round robin match.

    Gymnastics: Women's all-around final

World champion Simone Biles trailed after the second event, but the American was not behind for long after collecting 15.433 on beam to move above Russia's Aliya Mustafina, who could only manage 13.866 on the same apparatus.

Biles now has a huge lead and will become the Olympic champion unless she has a disaster on her last discipline - the floor.

But it is bad news for Great Britain's Ellie Downie. On the uneven bars she loses momentum and her routine grinds to a halt, before an unsure landing sees more points taken off. The total of 13.783 means she is down to ninth and needs something sensational on the final event - the beam - to win a medal.

That was a fantastic performance from GB to break the world record here. The conditions are not quick in here. The environmental conditions are a bigger factor on times than the track surface.

A Kenyan athletics coach has been sent home from Rio after allegedly posing as an athlete and giving a urine sample.

Kenya said sprint coach John Anzrah "presented himself as an athlete" and "even signed the documents" for the doping test.

"We cannot tolerate such behaviour," said Kip Keino, chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.

Anzrah is the second Kenyan official to be sent home over doping issues after track and field manager Michael Rotich.

The GB women were keeping a close eye on the USA team but their new world record remains intact after Sarah Hammer and co come in a second behind.

The pens are a hive of activity with cyclists warming up and warming down. I can see Sir Bradley. He's got his headphones on and is in the zone.

He'll be up shortly in the men's team pursuit qualifying.

    Men's team sprint coming up

Next up for GB are the men's team sprint. Great Britain's trio of Philip Hindes, Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner are in the fourth and last heat against Venezuela.

The fastest two winning teams race for the gold and silver medals, and the other two winning teams race for the bronze medal.

    Clear?

The danger for the British team is that the USA made a lot of mistakes on that ride. If they clean that up they could easily make that time back. We could have a fight on our hands here.
