The semi-final was their best since Katherine made her comeback.

The question is now, was that a one off or a new level?

It is wide open. Katherine and Vicky raced very well, they are right in the mix but all crews know a medal is up for grabs.

The dress code for medal ceremonies at the Rio 2016 regatta is tracksuits rather than rowing onesies.

    Matthew Pinsent is not keen.

Certainly that famous photo of BBC commentator Garry Herbert blubbing on the Barcelona 92 podium would have lacked something.

He will make his way around this very windy course with USA's Rickie Fowler and Venezualan Jhonattan Vegas.

Judo is a difficult sport to understand, lots of grappling, stopping and re-starting, and - in a blink of an eye - someone has won.

Thankfully the crowd are a knowledgable lot, roaring their men on when victory is in sight. A sing-song gathers momentum and in seconds the entire arena is chanting and clapping. Marvellous.

Bad news for Britain's Benjamin Fletcher, however, who loses to Georgia's Beka Gviniashvili in the men's -100kg.

  12. A ghost town?published at 15:01 British Summer Time 11 August 2016

Driving past the athletes' village aboard the Radio 5 live bus to Deodoro and the questions do rattle around the head.

While we were treated to super sport at this venue yesterday with kayak gold, shooting bronze and rugby drama, at what cost does this come?

The village is a monstrosity. It's 3,500 or more apartments can hold around 17,000 people. But how will they all be sold in an unstable climate here in Rio?

There are scores of tower blocks there but don't think this is the only real estate for sale in this city. There are other tower blocks scattered around which will clearly soon be on the market.

So will the village become a ghost town? And what about the X-Park, tucked away on mountain side with BMX and canoe slalom facilities? It's hardly located in a place where Rio's population can just pop in for a swim or bike ride.
