In 2013, Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyangreportedly ran 30m from a standing start in 3.7 seconds - faster than Usain Bolt covered the same distance on his way to setting his 9.58-second 100m world record.

His claim was laughed off by German sprinter Julian Reus - who described the claim as "a blatant myth".

Empty the pitch, get the stopwatch out and settle this once and for all lads.

A nice bit of quality couples time on the weekend.

    Well, perhaps.

Chris and Gabby Adcock - partners in life as well as badminton - take on a Polish pair in the mixed doubles today, knowing that victory is probably required to progress from the pool stages to the knockout round.

    That starts at 14:45 BST.

    Athletics: Men's 400m semi-finals (00:30 BST, Sunday)

Derek Redmond never won an Olympic gold. But he showed the spirit of what the Olympics is all about.

The British 400m runner was competing in a semi-final at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 when disaster struck. A torn hamstring left him screaming in pain and in tears lying on the track.

But he was desperate to finish, and with the help of his father Jim, who rushed from the stands to aid him, Redmond crossed the line to a standing ovation from the crowd.

    Relive that memorable moment here.

There are a couple of spectacular outliers in the all-time list of long jump leaps - Bob Beamon soaring through the thin Mexico air in 1968 and Mike Powell finally beating that mark in Tokyo 23 years later.

Both are relative light years ahead of the class of 2016.
