    Team GB's only remaining singles player Rajiv Ouseph meets fourth seed and reigning European champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in his men's singles quarter-final. 

    Axelsen leads the pair's head to head record 4-1. 

    The match is the last of the quarter-finals and it commences at 15:00 BST.

    Brits Catriona Matthew and Charley Hull will be looking to replicate Justin Rose's stunning victory in the men's tournament. 

    Matthew - a former Women's Open winner, tees off at 11:41 BST while Hull is in the last group at 15:09 BST, alongside favourite Lydia Ko.

    Australia's track cycling great Anna Meares ended her Rio campaign in tears after failing to defend the sprint gold medal she won in London 2012.

    The 32-year-old confided with former track adversary Victoria Pendleton, seemingly contemplating Olympic retirement.

    "I wouldn't have been as good as I was if it wasn't for Vicky," said Meares.

    "I've appreciated the time you've given me since London and the messages of support you've sent. You know how hard this position is."

    "I'm too emotional right now," replied a tearful Pendleton.

    "Despite the ordeal, Lochte engages in horseplay with Feigen, hitting him over the head with his Olympic accreditation, which is in a laminated plastic wallet," it reports.

    "Police probing the harrowing ambush have not been able to pinpoint exactly when and where it happened because the victims couldn't remember."

    British record have been broken left, right and centre in gymnastics during Rio 2016.

    Nile Wilson added to the team's achievements by becoming the first Brit to win an Olympic medal in the horizontal bar.

    The 20-year-old from Leeds, appearing in his first Games, claimed bronze on Tuesday, Germany's Fabian Hambuechen won gold with a score of 15.766, ahead of Danell Leyva of the United States.

    Belfast boxer Michael Conlan may have missed out on a medal in Rio in controversial fashion on Tuesday, but to one young fan thinks he's still a winner.

    Five-year-old Finn McManus, from County Dubling, has sent a touching letter and medal to his hero.

    Finn McManus told a devastated Conlan: "I want you to have my school medal because you are a winner."

    The boy's kind gesture has been impressing disappointed Irish boxing fans after it was shared on Facebook.

    It is a nation and flag that is the product of a compromise rather than borders and identity.

    It allows Taiwan - to all practical purposes independent since 1950, but which China regards as a rebel region - to compete at the Olympics, but not under its own flag or name.

    The most proud people in the velodrome on Tuesday were surely these two, Laura Trott's parents Glenda and Adrian.

    He told me: "it was just a perfect race. The one thing that continues to amaze me is, is that she makes it look so easy when it's not.

    "It seems strange to think she has won more Olympic gold medals than any other British woman as she's just our little girl. She's no different to us than she was yesterday."

    BBC chief sports writer Tom Fordyce has delved into what makes Jason Kenny and Laura Trott's relationship tick.

    Trott's father Adrian has an idea.

    "The difference in their characters is what makes it work," he said.

    "Until he gets to know you, Jason is a little bit shy. He's quiet and understated. Laura is bubbly, chatty, just as you see in her interviews.

    "If they were both like Jason, God only knows how they'd talk about anything. And God forbid having two Lauras in a household!"

    Oh, this is hands-over-the-eyes stuff.

    GB high jumper Robbie Grabarz's joy turn to despair as the bar wobbled, wobbled a bit more and then fell off - seconds after he successfully cleared the 2.33m jump.

    The judges marked it as a failure, before Grabarz successfully appealed against the decision.

    The 2012 bronze medallist eventually finished fourth as Canada's Derek Drouin won gold.
