Incidentally, Biles was penalised 0.3 for the bounce-out in her routine but her level of difficulty is so much higher than her rivals.

Refugee Olympic team athlete Kimia Alizadeh Zenoorin, who the British athlete lost to in the opening round, has defeated 2019 world bronze medallist Lijun Zhou of China to reach the -57kg semi-finals.

Should she win that, then Jones will enter the first round of the repechage and has a chance of winning the bronze medal. That phase begins around 11:00 BST.

Simone Biles is back with a bouncy start in her floor qualifying.

She puts in a superb tumbling display and even bounced out of the competition area at one point, which will mean a deduction. But her routine is so much more technical than her rivals.

She scores 14.133 - and goes into second overall behind Italy's Vanessa Ferrari who scored 14.166 earlier.

    Steve Bunce
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

Here's some reaction after Great Britain's Ben Whittaker got the split decision win over Jorge Luis Vivas of Colombia to reach the last 16 in the men's light heavyweight competition.

"It's about fight management, it's about tournament management, it's about pacing yourself, it's about looking good enough and no need to be sensational.

"Ben Whittaker in 2018 had a terrible Commonwealth Games, he was at middleweight and was really draining himself to make the 75 kilo limit.

"He moved up 81 different man, got medals in the two major tournaments in 2019, was seeded high for the first qualifier in London.

    "He's cruised through now."

American four-time Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles has become the first female athlete to have the honour bestowed upon her.

And of course, it's a goat.
